  • This video covers nutritional information and the health benefits of barley grass. This same information applies to barley grass powder and barley grass juice powder. The same nutrients are found in the fresh grass and both types of powders (except for the cellulose content which will not be found in the juice powder), with barley grass juice powder being much more concentrated in nutrients, thereby having a higher nutritional value.

    i been using spirulina powder on off for years after a friend put me onto it years ago. At first it tasted terrible like drinking fishtank water it made me throw up and took ages to get used to the flavour but i have to agree it helped boost energy. never tried barley grass just doing some research on other green foods. thank you for uploading

      Thanks for watching and sharing! I REALLY appreciate your comments because I too have found that spirulina powder tastes like fish tank water smells. I turned to taking spirulina tablets...they don't bother me like the powder did. For whatever reason, I enjoy the flavor of barley grass juice powder. I take it daily. I hope it works well for you! Best wishes :)

    Mrs Judi what is more safe for ckd, spirulina or barley powder? Thanks

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  2 месяца назад

      Hi! Both would be "safe" to cook with, regarding toxicity. But cooking spirulina would definitely reduce its nutritional value. I would not cook spirulina. You can cook with barley powder, since that would be the barley grains ground into a powdered form. Cooking barley GRASS powder or barley GRASS JUICE powder would reduce its nutritional value. To get the most benefit out of the barley GRASS powder, it should not be cooked. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and asking :)

    Barley grass is good in pregnancy?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  11 часов назад +1

      To the best of my knowledge, it should be safe to consume during pregnancy. Just as a precaution, I would take it only in moderation (not huge amounts), and when in doubt, always check with your doctor first! Thanks for watching and asking :)

    can you take barley grass if you have high creatinine level and high uric acid?

    • @JudiintheKitchen

      That's a great question. Seems like one you need to ask of your personal health care provider. Maybe there is a kidney problem? I am not qualified to answer that one, sorry! Thanks for watching :)

    When I use the juice powder, I tend to be very prone to headaches. Could this just be the sign of my body detoxing?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Месяц назад

      I can't say for certain, but it's absolutely possible that it is a detox reaction. Try cutting back on the amount you take and see if you can tolerate it better. I may be able to give more specifics if you tell how much you have been using, and how much (and what type of) liquid you've been putting it in.

    • @floraly88
      @floraly88 Месяц назад

      @@JudiintheKitchen Thanks for your fast reply. I used 5 grams, so about 1 teaspoon a day, in the morning. Either in water or green tea. It's not that I a headache every time, but I noticed that I get them more often when I use the powder. As I carry a lot of weight from a history with bad nutrition I thought that maybe the headaches could be due to the body starting to release toxins.

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Месяц назад

      @@floraly88 It's very possible. Try cutting back to 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 grams or so) and see if that helps! If the headaches stop, then I would go with that dosage for a while, then slowly increase it until you get back up to 5 grams a day. Hopefully this will help! Keep me posted!

    How to use plz do one video for me

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  7 месяцев назад

      Hello Sarva! Thank you for watching and asking your question! Because I must work SO far in advance on my research, recording, editing, and posting videos, a specific video for you would take quite some time before it airs. Because of that, I'll just provide a couple suggestions here on what to do with barley grass powder or barley grass juice powder. Typically, barley grass powder or barley grass juice powder would be added to a smoothie, smoothie bowl, or juice for added vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients like antioxidants. Barley grass juice powder is especially helpful in removing toxic heavy metals from the body. You could also simply mix it with water and drink it at any time you wish. I typically mix some barley grass juice powder and powdered dulse into a glass of water in the morning. I drink the water as I take any other supplements I need to take at that time. Basically, I get it all down at once and it's easy that way. If you choose to grow your own barley grass, you would need to juice it yourself to best utilize it. Or chew on the grass to extract the juice in your mouth, then spit out the pulp. Not a very pleasant idea, to say the least, but it's do-able. Typically only those who grow a lot of microgreens would take it upon themselves to grow their own barley grass then extract the juice with a blender or juicer. To use a blender, the grass would need to be liquefied in a blender, probably with a little water. Then squeezed through a nut milk bag to separate the pulp from the juice. The juice would be used as desired from there. I hope this helps! Take care :)

    Is barley grass safe for people with CKD and type 2 diabetes?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  4 месяца назад

      Hello Jonathan! Thank you for watching and asking! Kidney disease is something that must be monitored very carefully by your physician. Because of that, I think it would be best to ask your doctor that question. Regarding the diabetes, I believe barley grass would be safe. But the CKD is a completely different concern, so please ask your doctor before embarking on something different in your diet. Take care :)

      Hello! I don't think barley grass in itself will cause you to lose weight. That would be a matter of total calorie intake during your day. Be sure you're eating enough food/calories to stop unwanted weight loss. Thanks for watching and asking :)

      Hello! I don't think barley grass will cause you to lose weight unless you're using it as a meal replacement. If you include it in smoothies or as a beverage with or between meals, I believe you should be fine. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching :)
