Those new galley panels create a very unique style inside the cabin for Cathay, havent seen such before. Also, the business class looks sleek and elegant.
From a Digital Customer Experience Product Manager myself I totally understand the very fine, delicate balance of developing a product which satisfies the voices of actual paying customers, the possibilities and constraints of possible solutions, and at what price point it is feasible to develop. It’s not an easy job and there will always be some disappointed voices, but as long the main customer base is happy that’s the most important. You want returning customers, and I find delighting them is a good differentiator. Seeing more Cabin crew being hired from all cultures and nationalities can only be a good thing because it brings new perspectives and insights into local customs and markets. I sometimes feel the hard product is only half the experience as the last human element, the talent of the cabin crew, can make or break the entire experience and reputation of an airline. Cathay, please keep up the work you are doing 🙏
Hey Sam, very nice😊. Just wanted to say that as a tall dark skinned American, from Vancouver, BC to JFK, Cathay aboard one of their sharp 777-300ER's was amazing that night. The flight attendants were not only very friendly, allowed me to stuff myself during dinner to 3 servings, absolutely delicious. Smothered barbeque chicken with roasted asparagus and olive oil roasted and seasoned potatoes, absolutely delicious. Cathay Pacific all the way!! Very very nice. Please keep coming out with more vlogs!!
Thank you Sam, what I notice is that the crew looked more relaxed. Cathay Pacific crew suffered more than any other crew I think during pandemic and I can see the difference. Maybe it's just my subjective interrpretation. I love the new screen and camera's.
A lot of interesting features shown. Further bringing the various electronic sensor elements into the cabin would improve the flying experience, even for economy. The lavatory monitor feature is cool, as well as the improved exterior camera views. Thanks for showing us the new product Sam!
As always it is a delight to watch your reviews. After being a Product Manager myself in the old days, I appreciate these types of review showing the improvements of one generation to the next. Thank you for being so accurate and at the same time trying to pack as many details as possible in your vlog. Looking forward to seeing your next one and being taken on a new adventure 🥰
The revamp looks great from the video. Many thanks for your content Sam.. very informative, interesting and well structured. Wishing Cathay Pacific every success for the future! Please keep up the fantastic work!
Loyal Cathay fan here, thanks for the video! Currently waiting for the Aria suite to come to the Haneda route (hopefully it's my beloved CX548), can't wait to experience the new seat!
just flew business class (thank the lord), from LAX to Vietnam. Cathay pacific was such an amazing smooth flight, from the lounges to the way food is timed. Im ready to go back!
I’ve been flying Singapore Airlines for many years as my main carrier, but it was only about a few weeks ago where I tried Cathay Pacific for the first time from Singapore to Hong Kong (and back) and I can say that Cathay Pacific is honestly far superior in terms of Economy class compared to Singapore Airlines, and is vastly underrated. I think a lot of the travel award reviewers fly business class when reviewing the airlines so Economy class gets overlooked a lot. I was surprised and how much better Cathay Pacific was compared to Singapore Airlines, like it had a MUCH better IFE (more movies, more games, flight map is actually really good, AND IT HAS EXTERNAL CAMERAS!!!!), seat is much more spacious and has more storage space, and the food was so much better! I’ve had better food on my 2 flights with Cathay than I’ve ever had with Singapore Airlines, and now I realize how much Singapore Airlines is honestly lacking. I would DEFINITELY choose Cathay Pacific as my main carrier now and will go on more flights with them. Also, the prices are much cheaper compared to Singapore Airlines! ❤
As a Singapore citizen, I have to agree that Singapore Airlines while solid and super reliable, is starting to fall behind in economy class. IFE is still really good, with a huge selection, but the seat colours feel really bland and it’s not as inviting as their older style of seats. I’ve only flown them once since the pandemic ended, but I could see they were using more plastic and wrapped food. The meals pre-COVID were much better presented, with more small side dishes rather than just a small cake and cold bread roll like they have now. And it’s not just my one flight, I’ve seen other video reviews showing similar things. I hope that now SQ has posted record profits in recent times, some of it can go to restoring the soft product.
Just curious if you are from Singapore? I like CX and have flown with them multiple times on their LAX-HKG before covid. They have changed a lot and seem to lack the "service straight from the heart" they promoted years ago, which could be due to the protests and changes that happened to them between 2019 and 2020s. The covid policies of the city hit them hard. There is so much hate towards them from some HKers after 2019. Hope they make a comeback. I have only flown SQ as a kid in the 90s once. I think it was from HK to seoul or somewhere when transferring to Vancouver (forgot the xact itinerary)😅
Most people put their phones in flight mode, but this is the first time I am seeing a person remaining in flight mode always..Good. Your vlogs are always a pleasure to watch!🙂
@@SamChuioh my god so poor you have the old, outdated, iPhone 15! I can’t believe how embarrassing it is to film with the 15 when the 16 has been out so long omg so embarrassing.
inside the Boeing 777 of Cathay Pacific, the business class section is really unique, it has a beautiful design, I enjoyed it a lot, Thank you Sam for making this video 👍🏻👍🏻❤
Heading to Japan 2026 cannot wait to try the new Aria suite with Cathay. Our family has never flown any Asian airline accept Singapore before. We have our favourites, but due to the hype we are excited to give Cathay a go…I hope they don’t disappoint!
Most impressed with the quality of the Premium Economy offering. I usually find myself reviewing business class options, but can keep Premium as an option with Cathay - which is usual!
I was just on a United Polaris window seat…only 1/2 a window that you couldn’t reach. The seat in front had 2 1/2 windows. You were lucky to get such a great view out your one window.
Congratulations Cathay, bringing on the competition to Singapore Air. Now we need Cathay to release more competitive pricing especially on the Kangaroo route
If there is an Asian airline that i haven't flown in my life, one of my wish list is Cathay Pacific because the airline has gone through some painful years. Glad Cathay Pacific is going up and strong again. I think the new product is cool. Hopefully, i will try Cathay Pacific in the future.
Another great review of an aircraft and airline Sam. We love to fly ourselves to Asia and seeing this improvement is impressive by Cathay Pacific. Just wish they showed the same love to economy, but I know it comes down to ROI and they can recoup more with business class long term. Keep up the great videos...safe travels!
I love watching your vlogs and always fascinated with the information you share. What would be good is if there were more reviews of economy to help airlines take notice and improve economy class. Theres lots of money in business & first class flights but if some these principles were applied to economy as well as keeping its affordability there is lots of profit to be made from there too.
I think the main problem of Economy is that people simply don't want to pay more eg. for 2 inches more legroom. Whenever a densification of the cabin was people were enthusiastic. Lufthansa A 321 going from 186 seats to 205 was widely accepted.
I would have liked to have seen a bit more of a review of Premium Economy, my aim is to fly this on CX one day. I feel it may have lost the intermit feel by having a larger cabin, but we'll see. Thanks Sam for the review.
Sam, I agree with you. I personally visited HK prior to the handover, and it was like a cross between New York and Las Vegas. And clean. Well run. It was amazing. Based upon what I've heard, I haven't been back since. Let us all know how you see things in HK.
no,HK is sinking city, people rage all the time, everything expensive, sitting in restaurant cost u 1sd (if u dont wanna pay they told you to take away the food), street is so cramped with people, singapore and japan still ahead and liveable.
I am so delighted that CX has finally decided to step up her games into a much more modern design of their J class (Aria Suite) & W class (aka PEY), wish CX could have this kind of make up for their older B777-300s (non ER version) & the A330 fleets, as they are really aging. Now I am looking forward to seeing their new F class in the next 5 years.
Thanks for sharing. I am also an iron fan of SQ. But after watching I intend to give CX a shot. Seems like CX is fast catching up SQ or may overtake SQ soon. As a consumer price, food , service is consideration factor in take a plane.
Australian captain flying in Cathay Pacific cool looks cool have not been there planes now 5 years look forward going back on it so sam what best flight u think I dont like econemy to squashy premium economy looks ok but business looks 100% better nice flight
Good to see Cathay innovating. Emirates 777 business seats are not great as an example. I feel after covid it was a bad time for cathay, especially with inexperienced crews. I tend to fly on 350s for work a lot and especially this year the experiences have been positive. I think with a few small changes like updating catering they would be excellent. Seats, IFE and home lounges, they are offering a great experience
I missed Cathay so much, haven't flown since 2018, after my last 2 trips with Aeroflot and HK Airlines in 2019, and 2024 May, I wish I can go abroad more soon. Looking forward online for the November Emirates a350 delivery!
I love the clip you interviewed a flight attendant from mainland cause I’m going to join CX as a FO from mainland,I really feel that they embrace people from motherland
Just an idea Sam for a future video. How about taking a trip to the top 5 airports in the World? This must include several different amenities including comfort features, variety of restaurants, plane spotting sites, overnight stays/hotel rooms, ease of movement within the terminals & whatever else comes to mind. I’d suggest 2 day stay in each airport. This would allow you time to travel the entire airport, interviewing travelers & workers, sampling the many different meals & taking advantage of the physical attractions (saunas, massages, showers). Thanks Sam, always look forward to another entertaining video from you.
Looks nice now. @samchui do an another review in five years and comparison of its build quality. Interested in how the white plastic interior is gonna last.
Love your videos Sam!! Please make a video on the future of BWB aircrafts entering the commercial aviation scene (The Airbus Maveric, KLM flying V, Jet Zero and Alaska Airlines hydrogen propulsion.
Cathay has taken back catering from peninsula in house hence I believe there’s a lot of cost cutting on meals. I see it is going backwards. I’m a diamond member of Cathay since Covid they have cut 2 staff at the beginning. Last week when I book my flight they now also cut out diamond members to hold tickets till boarding
Having Mainland crew is a great antidote to any remaining political toxicity among some HK crew members. Plus the pan-Asian policy of cabin crew selection is absolutely right for Cathay. Well done, Cathay!
Airline vloggers always have their ways of describing how luxurious these Business class and First class cabins are of an airplane, new or not. But for me, the only most important feature is the ability of these seats to convert to beds in the middle of the flight. Extra services are rendered but like the rest of the passengers, they take their seats, loosen up their shoe laces, have a meal then sleep. Extra leg room helps, tho.
While it is amazing how they have upgraded the premium cabins, it is disappointing to see that the economy class product has hardly been changed, especially considering that the 777 economy class is light years behind that of the A350. I know that these economy class seats are relatively new, since they only finished the retrofit a few years ago, but they are not up to the standard set by the rest of CX's fleet. Hoping to see a much better economy class on the 777X, and hopefully it will be as comfortable as that on the A35K.
Thanks for this video, Sam. Personally, I cannot cope with the thought of not sitting forward in the direction of the flight. Cant stand it on buses, trains, anything. I need to be sitting in the direction of movement. Many many people are the same. I dont see the need, except for cramming in more seats, for the placement of the seating in these, and any airline, suites. I actually wont book any flights on seats that are not facing forward. Everything else about this product is modern and sleek, love the technology available onscreen etc... but the second I saw the seat placement, I immediately made a mental note to NOT book on this product. Many people with different health conditions will share this view... from arthritis, general backpain, to issues of OCD etc. This is just my opinion, but I am sure there are many out there who share this view, and have had bad experiences in flight just because of seat placement.
I wonder if they could have angled the seat the other way so your head further from the aisle - slightly less noise if people are walking in the aisles.
Those new galley panels create a very unique style inside the cabin for Cathay, havent seen such before. Also, the business class looks sleek and elegant.
