On occasion you'll meet a "get a real bike" type of HD rider, but those seem to be rare. As a gentleman I met recently said: "it doesn't matter if you're on a Harley or a Yamaha, we're all hitting the same bugs". :)

You sir are the exception to the rule. Most Harley guys are elitist pricks who separate themselves from the rest of motorcycle culture. I won't wave to Harley guys anymore unless they wave first because they almost never return the gesture. I love Harley from a historical perspective. Early racing days, the war effort, post war biker culture (my dad was SOCAL biker in the 60s/70s). But weekend warrior denist and attorneys took over so they trailer to a rally to play dress up 3 times a year and brag about having 6k miles on their 10 year old machine. And that allowed Harley to charge the same amount as mechanical marvels like ducati while not innovating and shoving the Evo 88 down our throats for 30 years.

They have had bike nights in my town for years, had a street bike for 6 years, never went, decided to go one night last summer and have a look around. I was there about 20 minutes and a biker gang rolls in, chatted seemed friendly. 10 minutes later another gang rolls in, then it goes south, 2 people stabbed, big brawl. Cops show up with assault rifles who nine yards.. Needless to say haven't went back I'm sure its rare but not a great feeling. All the "average" bikes just left or stood to the side and dissipated. Really ruined the night.

Old guy here that remembers bikers in the 70s-80s would destroy import bikes during parties, campouts, etc. Today's "Bike Night" is mostly comprised of guys who got their first bike when Harleys became popular and bought into the whole "lifestyle and Harley Branding" campaign. I've had conversations with guys that say "Harley is the only bike I'd ride" while wearing their HD TM approved costumes. Most guys who actually ride don't discriminate, they're glad to see you out there riding. You do you, ride whatever you want, wherever you want and enjoy the ride.
I also agree with you, the S1000RR is a dream bike.

It's all two wheels and if we can convert you a Harley, even better. I'm from Scotland but in 2000 a group of friends did a 5000 mile tour of the USA ending up in Sturgis. There were 12 Harleys and Yamaha tourer, a Royal Star I think. When we were stopped for gas, a guy came up to us and checked out the bikes. He said "that's a Yamaha" without hesitiating my friend Ted just answered " it's all right, he let's us ride with him" . That's how it should be.

I've never seen that Harley snubbing of other brands either. I own a Honda Rebel 500 and I've had Harleys pull up next to me on the highway and cruise for miles. A steel horse is a steel horse really. And I'm impressed with this channel really, a young woman with a good relationship with her father (= well balanced/ not a man hater) possesses good riding skills even knows the correct way to name her bike (opposite of your gender). This young woman's got it going on. There you go fellers! She's the real deal zero brain rot.

Josh and Chey went to the Harley dealership for a similar event. In usual Shadetree fashion, he took the Goldwing and kept his Honda hat on the whole time. They both fit in as if they were riding Harleys. A true "biker" that rides every brand. Nobody had any negativity towards them.

    Hi Lali
Just found your channel and I like your easy going style, so have subscribed.
I am an MT09 rider in New Zealand so we share the same brand.
To reinforce what has already been said in the comments, it does not matter what you ride, so long as it is your ride! Cheers Greg

Great jacket, I've got the Matador two piece. I ride with guys with Monsters, and they don't care I ride a S Sport ZX6R. They also know I track it, and just enjoy hanging out and going for rides and discussing what I've been doing with our bikes and how the track is going etc. it's all bike talk and no one cares what type of bike, at least with the circles I associate with.

Haha, the faces they made at first were funny. But yeah bikers being bikers are so nice and welcoming! If I were there and appreciated the Harley's and see any other bike popping up will definitely check it out and have a chat lol. Great stuff about the sponsor as well! So happy for you! Also, if you are going to travel riding different bikes, the garage might be a useful object to store your bikes in. And yes I said bikes, cause I believe your channel will be pumping and blowing up. So you can order the used or new bike whilst being on the road. XD
So many good vibes from you, it's literally busting through the screen haha! So much fun to be around you i imagine.

I had to listen a second time to hear again the Dealer's guy plug for the safety course on learning to ride a MC. The one near me here in TX charges $125. Penn. may be a long way for free but I'm totally embarrassed that my great state is gouging people. I really enjoy your vids. I'm a 73 yr. old man that didn't start until I was late in my 60's. Highly recommend a Harley. I have had many throughout the years and never had one I did not love and wanted to ride everyday. Sure, there are lemons but every product has lemons. Be sure to have any used Harleys inspected by an authorized dealer. If you can I recommend buying new from the dealer right off the showroom floor. You know it has never been dropped and has never been run too lean or with dirty oil. Since you ride sportbikes already, I recommend a Harley that is just a little bigger than what you are used to rather than the same size or smaller. You may want to take a look at the Slim or Slim Special model. You will most likely fall in love with floor/footboards rather than pegs.

I showed up at a show and shine type bike night at a diner on my KLR after a day of muddy trails. You could visibly see the discomfort if I got too close. The name patches like 'Porky' Sgt at Arms on the H.O.G vests and fingerless gloves were funny.
For such and individualistic activity that claims nonconformity we sure do like to put ourselves into groups that almost have uniforms.

Great video, nice to see fellow riders. Rented a 2023 soft tail in Albuquerque in July, when visiting the US, rode around the mountains and through Madrid to Santa Fe. Loved the ride and the weather but not so the Harley, too slow, too heavy and agricultural but I ticked the route66 box on a harley though. My own is an 890 Duke R, quite similar to yours.

One of the groups I ride with are all HD guys, and we go on pretty long trips together as the only sport bike. We went to an HD dealership in Lebanon NH even, and they were all very cool. There are definitely a lot of stuck up Harley guys, but I think it's gotten a lot better over the years. Though the sport bike scene has always seemed a lot friendlier, and that hasn't changed much.

I was in a group of touring bikes heading south through Europe on the German autobahn. Suddenly we saw police and blinking blue lights. It turned out to be a huge group of Harleys, almost 150 bikes, stopped on the motorway to help a woman on a Japanese motorcycle that had a breakdown... The police were diverting the traffic, and when the lady was back in the saddle, everyone took off. We got the story from other bikers at the next tank stop. Bikers are gentlemen... 😂

You may have already heard this before, but it never dawned on me till it happened to one of my friends. When riding alone, try not to keep your phone attached to a holder in case you have a crash, your bikes gonna go one way and you’re gonna go the other and you might not be able to get a hold of your phone to call for help. Like I said, I never thought about it until it happened to one of my friends.

Yep, Harley rider here and I too don't care what the bike is as long as its rider isn't obnoxious or doing stupid stuff. We ride as riders, not sponsors or advertisements. Ride what makes ya happy and stick around people that compliment you versus taunt and belittle you. 😁👍

Every harley guy ive spoken to has been just fine, aside from some lighthearted ribbing which i dont mind, and i know enough "harley leaked oil on your driveway" counterjokes that it works out pretty well. 😂
