too bad games really depend on gameplay as the soundtrack is really good, the visuals are solid at least in the cutscenes. I have a feeling that they finished those first but ran outta time and had to release it unfinished.
from what I heard, we weren't even gonna get those cutscenes at first! Balan Company were originally gonna use strictly in-game cutscenes to push the game's narrative, but Visual Works essentially strong-armed them into letting them into the project and giving the game its pre-rendered cutscenes.
This song just encapsulates so much of what went wrong with this project. Sounds fantastic, high quality vocals, clearly made with passion and drive, like the art direction, character designs, really almost every facet of it that wasn't the actual gameplay. Feels very whimsical, intriguing, worth a damn. ...and then, in the game ITSELF, for some apex brain 20000000000IQ logic reason that I guess we inferior unevolved peasants couldn't possibly hope to understand, they decided that it would be more logical to REPLACE ALL THE LYRICS WITH COMPLETE GIBBRISH, making it sound horrendous and uncanny, ruining the same passion and mishandling that drive. So damn much of this game was incredibly well designed, but it either fell completely flat, or just was completely mishandled, in the places that mattered the most. What I would give to see this IP go to a team that could actually do it justice with a concrete vision. Damn shame, it is.
Yeah, after finally getting around to playing the game, a developer/publisher like THQ Nordic would have done pretty good things with this IP considering how fun the Spongebob and Destroy All Humans games are.

@Zachary Erickson I think they mean metacritic, they trust the scores so much that the game gets bashed. Look at Sam procrastinates, he made a review and added a hate song to it so people shouldn't buy the game, even if there's a fandom. And I'm guessing they're scared of going on DeviantART or tumblr as there is alot of fans who keep the game alive. Like me!
