The Son of Man is 'Lord' of the Sabbath. It is important to pay attention to the definite article - the word 'the'. Jesus always and without exception refers to the son of man in the 3rd person... and with good reason, as 'the' son of man is not a person, it's a thing - a person INSIDE a person. It is a door or gate though which one's spirit enters into a relationship with the Lord - the example can been seen in Ezekiel 2, when Ezekiel is called. The Lord says... 'son of man' STAND and I will speak WITH you - not TO you. Thus the Lord intends to USE Ezekiel, but can only do it IF Ezekiel is 'upright' and 'obedient'. Next, we see that the 'spirit' enters into Ezekiel and it is the 'spirit' that causes Ezekiel to stand. This is why it is important for the 'son of man' to have 'faith', as it is impossibly to please God without faith. That 'faith' must be in the Lord and the idea that we must accept good and evil at the hand of God... as Job did. To understand the Sabbath, one has to understand 'what' and 'why' the Sabbath was 'made'. On the 7th day God (Elohim) tested from all He made and created. These 2 words are NOT the same thing, and the answer is found in Isaiah 45:7 where the difference between them can be bery easily seen, but perhaps not so easily accepted. The verse reads... "I form light and I create darkness. I make peace and I create evil: I the LORD do ALL these things." ~ Isaiah 45:7 Notice what is created vs. what is formed and made. Darkness and evil are created while light and peace are formed and made. As a side note, man was 'formed' and woman was 'made'. Thus, the Sabbath is a condition of 'rest' between the 2 forces by which all of time is constructed of, meaning that there is no 'war' or 'enmity' between these 2 forces - which is definitely 'good'. Since the son of man is a person inside a person, this is where all of the wording comes from about being IN Christ, filled with the spirit, and so on. This 'son of man' as being the open or closed door, defines our relationship - either of obedience or rebellion - and if the son of man repents (Numbers 23:19) then our Lord AND our God can be served IF the son of man has 'faith' to do and follow the commandments of God. When Paul says one esteems one day ad someone else esteems ALL days the same... is to point to a time when EVERYDAY is treated as the Sabbath, all 7 days and as a perpetual 'rest' - as the very 1st Sabbath was intended to be. Jesus made the law 'harder' - by moving the time of sin into the thoughts, and easier as well, by explaining HOW to be able to honor the commandments, by doing everything in love. Love of our Lord and God, and of our neighbor. Great teaching sir. 100% solid.
So is it me or is it crazy to think the New Covenant is the same as the old covenant. Why make a new covenant if it's going to be the exact same as the old covenant it makes no sense at all. Christ abolished the old covenant. Christ is our Sabbath.
