When the females are out looking for food, will they be near the males in the shallows, for example?

That really depends. Most of the time you won't catch females after they've dropped their eggs. They will drop their eggs and then leave, making them difficult to catch. During the prespawn when males are still making the nests, the females will be farther away from the bank and could be a little deeper. If they haven't laid their eggs yet they should all be in relatively the same area. After she drops the eggs though, she's out. Hopefully I didn't just ramble and I actually answered your question lol

Trolling and spider rigging aren't the same thing. Trolling is for covering more water at 1-3 knots with jigs pulled behind the boat. Spider rigging is moving .2-.4 mph hovering over structure. Good video and tips none the less.

Droptyne Outdoors thanks for the clarification! I’ve always heard spider rigging used to describe that particular type of trolling. Good to know!

If you want numbers, head to Perryville county lake. The conservation department encourages every fisherman to harvest 30 crappie

What part of Missouri are you from. I live in semo and it’s hit or miss rn for crappie. I can’t figure them out.

I am in mid Missouri. I haven't been out fishing yet this year (still working on my boat and getting ready for snagging season) but this time of year they will be hit and miss everywhere. Just keep bouncing around until you find them, especially in the deep holes.

Informed Outdoors thanks for the info went out today and caught a few and even landed a bonus catfish. It’s supposed to warm up a bit the next two days then drop to well below freezing Saturday night. Thinking it’ll be good.

Thank you, they are really getting on my nerves, I can pick up a few here and there but never can just get on them. Oh well. Weather isn’t helping either

Use smaller baits. Minnows or jigs
