  • CB750 Wiring Harness Assembly & Fit | Idiot Light Dash Warning Light Loom Repair | Part 3
In this video, I start to refit the wiring on my CB750K restoration project. It is a “bitsa” in that the frame and engine were not an original pairing.
Having cleaned the loom I am now fitting it so that I can test it. The main aim is to check that all of the electrical components work, and be able to start the bike. I will tidy up the way that it is fitted at a later date once I know I have it all working.
The idiot light loom is missing, so I have bought some pattern parts to remake it. I used some Solder Seal Butt (fuseable) links for the first time. You slip two wires into them then heat them with a lighter to melt some solder which makes a join. Which works out very successfully.
These are the type of links I use in the video: ebay.us/bQ5cC6
    Wiring tool ebay.us/6EfhSR
    3.9mm wiring connectors ebay.us/9N54Qy
    3.9mm double connectors ebay.us/Lg9cHH
    Insulating tape ebay.us/Qf9wzK
I do come across a few problems with the loom that I will need to fix before the bike will be ready to go back on the road. The main one is that the starter motor seems to only work intermittently. I will need to repair this so that I can start the engine.
Whenever I am playing around with one of my projects, I always try to wear good overalls like these ebay.us/2LOCDG and gloves ebay.us/gcA4XD

Thanks mate, the wiring is always a pain in the backside, but always satisfying when it works out.

Super helpful, making my way through all the videos. So i have a new solenoid that's the right fit for my 72 K2 only the red yellow wire and green red wires coming off of it seem to have opposite connectors to the orginial - so the red yellow is bullet to bullet - do i just change one or the other to allow connection? Thanks.

As long as you don't confuse the thicker battery wires for the starter connections with the two wires for the starter switch you can wire it either way around, if the connectors match up the opposite way around I would just connect them like that rather than cutting off the old connectors and needing to put on new connectors. I do hope you continue to enjoy our videos.

Hi Do you know if theirs much of a diff between a loom made in uk or usa . ?

I assume that you are talking about original looms, not repro ones. There will be differences. I think they will mostly be about daytime running lights, an indicator warning buzzer and maybe the starting system cut outs (clutch, sidestand). I think that most of the basics of the loom would be exactly the same. I found that the wiring diagrams between the different Ks were all pretty much the same. I hope that helps.
