Excellent test you carried out, showing us the performance of each glowplug brand. However, I note that the needle was not used to obtain an adequate adjustment for each type of plug.
Hi and thank you for your comment! Definitely, I'm not sure about the overall test conditions, there were a lot of other thing happens this time. Thank you very much for your feedback, I'll improve this moment during next test runs. Have a nice day !
Brilliant running engine. I have the OS 95v, its bigger brother. Ive had it for 9 years and no bother with it. I would like to buy the 62v after watching this video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi and thanks a lot for your so positive comments ! Really, 62V is a nice running engine, designed with a great attention to details, I like it much, Thank you and have a nice day !
Nice engine. Of course we know that OS quality is top tier. I was thinking, it might be interesting if you were to peak the HS needle with each glow plug, instead of leaving the needle the same for all of them. Cheers!
Thank you for your comment ! I'll agree with you regarding HS needle adjustment for each glow plug, for sure, it will show more precise and convincing results for each plug. But...(every time is has its own "but" 🙂), it would requests a lot more time, and from the point of enabling comparable test conditions (the same prop, FAI fuel), individual HS needle adjustments will add kind of non standard test conditions involved. So, from the different point of views, I decide to leave it "as is". Main topic was to give a brief idea, how different combos are performing. Close to the end of "grand" test cycle (12 engines included), I've plans to choose two of the engines and to provide test runs with HS needle adjustment, to understand, how much we can expand engines possible TOP speed. Also, should say, that some on the engines are simply not working well on FAI fuels, because there were designed for more advanced, nitro added fuel mixes, according to its manuals. As far, as I know, most M.A.N. & RCM reviewers, all their test were provided with a fuel, contains some adequate amount of nitro. So, we've a test with some capabilities underrating, quite conservative conditions. There still a lot of unrealized possibilities had left, of course. Thank you and have a nice day !
Thank you for your comment and information ! I was found this 64's engine, at OS web site: www.os-engines.co.jp/english/line_up/engine/air/single/catalog/3AY00.html As far, as I understand, this is basically, the same 62 V with modified head with redesigned combustion chamber shape, to achieve more "realistic" exhausted tone (c). The image of the both heads with close comparison found here: www.os-engines.co.jp/line_up/engine/air/single/img/single/64v/011.jpg I think, that OS in that update was also provided some compression ratio reduction, to eliminate engine kick back and prop throwing behavior during the first run hours. What is great, that they still working on it.
OS is also adding a woodruff key to the drive washer, I never experienced prop kick with my FS 62v , maybe your prop was to large or you over primed the engine, I fly using a 13-5 or 13-6 runs very reliable
@@billjones3071 Thank you for your comment ! Prop throwing's and occasional kick back attempts were just at the beginning of testing, As far as engine accumulates more working hours, its behavior was changed. Mostly, accurate carb adjustments and increasing engine run time solve the problems. Thank you and have a nice day !
Hi and thank you for your question ! All test run cycle of 0.50 and 0.60 engines competition I use classical FAI fuel, to get results comparable, so 80% balanced Methanol and 20% of Motul Micro 2T fully synthetic engine oil. To look at competition results summary, please, go here: ruclips.net/video/K_j46lZeCWY/видео.html Thank you and have a nice day !
Hi, and thank you for your question. I had one of those and stupidly sold it. These are one of the best running four strokes ever made.
