Magnificent. Rabbi Lewis went on to become a briliant public speaker and wonderful spokesperson for Hebrew culture, Newport history and a beloved spiritual leader. R.I.P.
Jayne Meadows was gorgeous. Steve Allen was a lucky man. Tom always knew a lot of people. In later years he had to disqualify himself a lot. I think later on if you knew any of the contestants, you had to disqualify yourself.
You often notice Tom looking to his left talking to somebody (other than the audience) in some episodes. In this ep at 15:34 you see a man (producer or stage manager) holding a pencil lean in and give Tom a note. Very rare to catch a glimpse of something like that but in this series of shows you can often sense that there is activity going on next to Tom.
I tired googling the overnight dj since I'm a New Yorker, but so far nothing. I would have been too young to listen to him. Monique Van Vooren is announced for an upcoming show on one episode filling in for someone. My You Tube search only has her on Password. I hope it will be posted.
Ooooh... Kitty almost got 'em with the airport question. The GREATER Cincinnati Airport is still in Kentucky and not all that close to downtown. #2 certainly didn't look like much of a beauty pageant contestant...!
Kitty was ashamed and embarrassed of being Jewish, so she downplayed and hid it. Apparently her mother was even worse in that regard. Maybe it came from living in the south during those times. I visited the Tuoro Synagogue in Rhode Island. Don Ameche always sounded like he was interrogating somebody in a courtroom.
Yes but I'm pretty sure it wasn't his call. The producer likely instructed him of what he wanted him to do regarding the prize money. (during the last commercial break.)

Not only was Rhode Island the home of the first Jewish worship center, but also the first First Baptist Church!):)

Such integrity we don't see as frequently these days!
Yes!
I should’ve given the full amount to the ice skater group, too.
interesting occupations and talents of the other contestants tonight , quality entertainment!

Agree 100%...I've noticed he often looks off even when saying his questions. Must have been really close to him
Giving him the questions ?

Watched when I was little.
That was nice of them to give the full amt to the balloonist players.
Celebrity Guests:

3. Kitty Carlisle
4. Tom Poston
Host:
Bud Collyer
thank you !
That carton of Marlboro they each got is worth more than the prize money.
Marlboro cigarettes. Great for an ice skater.
On and on and on. I know hundreds of high level hockey players who smoke, and if they met a guy like you - well, I think you know you wouldn't last.
@@jodygoar7071 is there something seriously wrong with you?
that guy who imitates the calliope is awesome . He must be fun to know !!!
A shame that he didn't give his name.

It was 16 years earlier.
I would've just been grateful for that carton of Marlboro cigarettes.....
Game 3: gee I wonder if a relative of these guys was the joker who decided Pi day was going to be the same day as The Ides Of March...
Tom Postman delivers.
The 3rd book of the bible is Leviticus, not Deuteronomy.
The word Bible is capitalized!
@Mark Richardson It's the title of the book. In this instance it would be capitalized. The Bible.....capitalized. A bible...not capitalized.
I liked it better when the panel introduced themselves.

I don't blame her.
Shalom
Correct name isi Joan Hyldoft.
A carton of what !!!!????
for accuracy:
Joan Hyldoft, not Hildoff
they also jeeped the 2nd group out of $250 and why won't Kitty wear her glasses
Tom should not have been allowed to vote on that ice skater.
Great job by Bud there at the end !

Calliope man, pretty cool.
I visited the Tuoro Synagogue and saw the letter written by George Washington.
Man #2 in Game #1
Lady #2 in Game #2
Man #3 in Game #3

Don't do it
Cigarettes are a great prize for a skater lol.
OMG
Audrey Meadows should not have been allowed to vote for the balloonist.
It's Jane Meadows. Audrey played Alice Kramden on The Honeymooners
@@Walterwhiterocks To be completely accurate, it was Jayne.
