Great video for the AISIN water pump!
The Aisin has an O-Ring seal, where as the other leading brands TRQ and Dura last use the o ring plus a flat gasket .
The Aisin has such good tolerances in the maching of the housing
    it needs no gasket .
i found this with the Aisin Thermostat as well, it fits perfectly for the Fzz1 block where as other brands leak and fail

I am putting a new water pump on my 05 Vibe with the Toyota 1.8L. I have a GM/ACDelco water pump that came with just 4 new bolts (2 long, 2 short). There is no documentation on WHERE to put them. I see that you mention a TSB for the bolts on the Aisin pump. Is there someplace that "we" can read an authoritative/accurate PDF on the reason for the change and why the bolts are shorter and longer and why the no threads tip/end? Thank you for the comprehensive video.

I can look it up and see if there is any documentation, but I don't think there is except for the models I mentioned in the video. The paper manual I got came in the box with the pump and so I'm not not sure as to the reason for the design changes of the bolt tips. You should be okay with those bolts and with the pump that comes with yours. AC Delco often rebrands stuff and will typically show up as something else in the box most likely a genuine Aisin part for that model year Vibe. Those bolts are probably extra bolts and they're okay to use with the new pump just make sure you put the same bolts where it came out of from the old one and you should be fine. The same location for the long and short bolts is what I mean.
Those newer bolts that I got from the dealer with the protruding tip at the end are called full dog bolts. They kind of act like a dowel to help hold the water pump in place better and usually suited for things that have deeper mounting holes.

I couldn't find anything so far regarding the information you're looking for. But what I know is that vehicle manufacturers will go through design changes for various reasons and update those parts with a newer and better design. As for the bolts with those tips at the end I'm not sure as to why the newer style bolts from the dealer are slightly different.

@@moosemobileautorepair ok, thanks. The pump is in, all seems to be good!. I was worried about just putting the new bolts back in the same place the old ones came out because I didn't remember if there were updates the first time I did this pump, so I was suspicious of my own work! I did find some extra info on an "Amazon" review of this pump (said short bolts go at holes #4 & 6 starting #1 at top going clockwise.) and at "Generation Vibe" forums. Now, on to the blower motor and rear drum brakes. Then on my 06 gotta put on a new starter. Getting old, so I'm glad these are so easy to service!

That's awesome. 👌 Glad to hear it went well. I did read one of those Amazon reviews before myself too. I forgot about that one. Every little bit of information does help sometimes. Usually you'll be okay to reuse old bolts and put them back in the same holes they came out. All good.
