One of the most iconic lines in a song ever IMO. "You've been cold to me so long, I'm cryin' icicles instead of tears."
I totally agree Russell
“There ain’t no Coupe De Ville hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box”……..brilliant line.
When this song came out, we were riding down the road on I-69 in Flint, Michigan. My dad said "Do you know what a Coupe De Ville is?" I didn't, and when he told us kids, I thought "How cool is that? The idea of a Cadillac in a Cracker Jack box!!" And drilling for oil on city streets.. I was blown away.
Yes love this song
I Know
Yeah I look every chance I get? Lol love meatloaf
I was so little back then that I thought it was Cruella de Ville🤣
Rip Meatloaf!! Gone last night, but never lost. His light grew dim for us, but a brighter night sky, u can trust!!
He poured himself entirely into his performances. Such an amazing voice, lyricist, & yes, actor. Meatloaf is one of the artists who I think has only gained more appreciation over time, as people realize just how gifted he was, looking back. What a loss.
Meatloaf is still alive and well....
@@suecook1326 Well... He is alive. I would not say he is well.
@@aebalc oh he's not?
Yes, not many singers actually had oxygen off stage, and who actually used it at times.
He’s very much alive. Last time I saw Meatloaf was 2016. Jim Steinman is dead though, he wrote most of the songs on the “Bat Out of Hell” album. Incidentally, that’s the first 8-track I ever bought
I was 20 in 1977 and still to this day it brings tears to my eyes. Many slow dance memories
I was 20 in 1987 but the lyrics of this song still hit me hardest during my teen-to-early 20's and those oh so fragile relationship years. Especially during a break-up with someone who I mistakenly believed was the perfect one for me. It turned out they weren't the "perfect one" for me but that didn't make the heartbreak any easier and certainly didn't help hold back tears while thinking I only had 2-out-of-3 she was looking for.
I was 10
My mom loved him
Played it at her funeral
Meatloaf had an absolutely MONUMENTAL! voice. R.I.P.
in an interview meatloaf said that it was the same girl, she hurt him and then regretted it and came back to him. but he couldn't trust her anymore. she had killed the love he had for her. so he repeated her words back to her.
I can relate.. same thing happened to me.. once upon a time.
Rest In Peace Meatloaf
September 27, 1947 - January 20, 2022
Lost too soon to covid-19.
We wanted you, we needed you and yes we loved you desperately...
3 out of 3 is a perfect score...
Meat said in an interview, every song to him is a play and he becomes the character in the song.
Can't believe you haven't done Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf yet.
Gotta be the live version though from back in the day.
Absolutely
A brilliant live performance! The change up in the middle is confusing the first time, but you will understand the metaphor pretty quickly.
Ohhhh yeah. They gotta react to THAT ONE. That one is EPIC!
or Bat out of Hell
All I can say is that Mel is a big girl!! No disrespect but damn!!!
He makes you actually feel for yourself what hes is feeling. That is a true artist. 🤘😎🤘😎
One of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung. This song been hitting me since the 70's and continues to do so. I still have this record on 45 somewhere.
My album is 46 yrs old....and this song still makes me cry....
There'll NEVER be another Meatloaf...the GOAT ❤🎉❤🎉❤
He was dynamic in concert....so damn REAL !!!!!
The two greatest male voices in rock were Freddie Mercury and Meatloaf. Had they ever collaborated on anything, it would have been stratospheric.
He didnt do much music tho...
@@michaelasay6140 He has the 33rd best selling album of all time.
For me its dio, Freddie, then meat
@@Ehnalytical Do you even get a trophy for being 33rd place?
Meat Loaf, Freddie, and David Bowie
He said in an interview that the girl who broke his heart in the beginning came back wanting to get back together but he could not trust her so he could never love her again. He wanted and needed her but he couldn't love her because she killed it in him.
This song is so deep , and the lyrics are a masterpiece and the music so beautiful . I played this song so much loved his voice in it. and the words
I love the passion he sings with; you can actually feel his pain, you just want to hold and cuddle him to try and take the pain away.
Shawn’s got a big ol’ heart.
Man he's a great singer!
His vocal range is absolutely amazing! Meatloaf (Marvin Aday) is one a the few artist who sounds almost the same live as he did on his records. Check out Paradise By The Dashboard Lights.
Paradise by the Dashboard Light is one of Meat Loaf's awesome song's and greatest hits too
I've been a HUGE fan of Meatloaf since I first heard him in 1977! A good friend bought the album on 8-track, we listened to it so often that we wore out the tape. 40+ years later and I still have most of the words memorized! I thoroughly enjoyed watching the two of you react to Meatloaf.
I love meatloaf I love all of his music this is one of my favorites ❤️
That was Jim Steinman on the piano. He wrote most of Meats songs. He recently passed away. You should check him out. His songs are amazing.
He died?!!
so underrated as a songwriter rip
Steinman passed?! 😭😭
I'm an old man and a country music fan and I play this song 3 or 4 times a week
Jim Steinman RIP. Great song. Much love to you and your family 💕
Great performance, awesome voice, really wore his heart on his sleeve. Love your reactions S&M. Rest In Peace, Meatloaf ✝️
Such a great lyricist
He says there ain't no coupe deville hiding at the bottom of a cracker jack box
What is hilarious is that oil did spring up in a downtown area somewhere during the 1970's, and Cracker Jack had a giveaway where they gave away a car! LOL
One of my top 5 songs EVER! You really need to watch him sing it- he felt every single word! Love it!
That song is so amazing....love it.
The FIRST MeatLoaf song I ever heard and fell in love with it. Went to buy the Album, but it was SOLD OUT! I found 1 of 2 of the only copies of Bat outta Hell left in the store. They were Picture Discs. Far More expensive, but I bought it, and still have it till this day. Played it ONCE and copied it to tape to save the record. The disc is fantastic.
What a powerful song...!!...cool reaction 👍🏻👍🏻
He was told those words then out of being hurt he turned and did it to someone else,Telling her he can't give her something he doesn't have anymore becuase of his past hurt.
There is only one girl he will ever love.
@Sam Willett i used to interprete in both ways and i prefer your interpretation. It is way deeper to assume he said the same words to the same person who.left him so many years ago
@Sam Willett Meatloaf says in an interview that the song was in fact about the same girl.
You might want someone in your life, you might need someone in your life, but it's hard to love with a heart that's already broken.
Meat Loaf is phenomenal. He'll be 74 next month... ya'll be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday.
And hes funny every interview
Sorry guys, apparently, you haven't heard the sad news that we just lost the great MEATLOAF.He left us at the age of 74.R.I.P Meatloaf,Rest well.
This came out when I was in high school! Still my favorite band 35 years later! Rock on!
Fav band? What??
lol try 45 years.
Meat Loaf was NOT a band. It was the stage name of the singer. It amazes me how many people get this wrong.🧐 Oh, and it was released 45 years ago, not 35. 😁
It was out a long time before that!
@ Steve Bird not sure if you were replying to my comment or the first guy.😁 But yeah, came out in 1977.
Y'all are a simply beautiful couple!! Great song and great reaction, but the love and chemistry the two of you share make every reaction video just awesome!!
"We in love, you guys." That's so precious. ❤️ You. Your reactions make me smile.
Great vocal skills.
You should just do this whole album... it is one of the best ever on vinyl....
Really.
I have the cd
You guys are killing it, hitting me in the feels 😢, I guess I've never paid close attention to lyrics until I've been watching your videos. You 2 do excellent work 👏.
RIP MEATLOAF 🙏..YOUR BRILLIANT MUSIC TALENT WILL LIVE ON 😥 .Great reaction!
I absolutely love this song I have for 40 years.....RIP Meatloaf... 1-20-2022... you and your amazing music and your character ( Eddie) in the Rocky horror picture show… Will be missed ❤️🤘🙏🏻
Please do more Meat Loaf reactions. "I'm gonna love her for both of us" and "For crying out loud" are great songs - like most of Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman songs.
Omg you two are so cute!!! Awesome video.. my favorite song by meatloaf after I would do anything for love... ♥️♥️♥️
My favorite by Meatloaf. Such an amazing, powerful voice. He will be missed.
mine too
To me, Meatloaf is doing to the woman, who loves him, what was done to him! When he says, " their was only one woman, that I have ever loved, and that was so many years ago"...etc. Fast forward , years later here's a woman, who loves him completely, and he cannot reciprocate, her love! He never healed, from his true love, not loving him! The first time my late mother, heard this song, she said " Now that's cold "...it was one of her favorite songs! Great reaction. I have Meatloaf's " Bat Out Of Hell" on Cassette, Vinyl, and CD! This is my favoriteeeee song by him!!
Love your reactions. Rest In Peace Meat Loaf.
I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the memories.
Love how you guys keep the reaction going instead of pausing every 5 seconds, keep it up haha
Who would think in a few months he would be gone, he will be forever missed
Shawn, loved watching you during this one. That's exactly how I feel too whenever I hear Meatloaf. I don't know if reaching out like that helps him hit those notes or helps me in listening to him reach perfection !
In my opinion the line I've crying ice cycles instead of tears is one of the greatest lines ever in a song
I loved Meatloaf from being 16, not just musically but I was in love with him! He's brilliant in concert. I've been lucky enough to get ticket's to see him a few times. As I got older my son & his friends loved him. I bought him 2 tickets one Christmas so he could go with a friend but he said "No Mum, I'm taking you". He is amazing. Jim Steinman wrote some brilliant songs with him.
This was the song... my best friend put the cassette tape in on this particular song and I was so hooked. I think I played it on repeat 500 times. EVERY SNGLE song he ever sang followed. Specifically off the Bat out of Hell album. I'm not lying when I say I had to keep re-buying it because my friends and I would wear it out, every damn song. God, he was the soundtrack to my life in the first few years after highschool, even though I graduated in the early 90's. His music takes me back to simpler times, the funnest years of my life. I loved him, RIP to a true LEGEND.
Since the passing of meat loaf ,my favorite artist of all time since 1993, I was watching reaction videos of his and I came across this channel and I absolutely fell in love with you guys, this was awesome. God bless you guys, honest and true reactions
Thanks for all the good music Mr Loaf. RIP Meatloaf. And you two are beautiful people!
See that guy sitting there playing that piano? Yah. He wrote the whole album, produced and directed it, and performed in it alongside of Meat Loaf. Never forget the name of Jim Steinman. If it weren't for him, none of us ever would have heard of this guy called Meat Loaf.
Paradise by the dashboard lights. You'll piss your pants 😂😂
You guys rock. This is one of my favorite artists and songs
I love watching people react to this song for the first time. It is always so much better than anyone expects.
Mel..Shawn looked at u like"baby need milk"😂😂😂 that's awesome
Ty u for playing this song, I bow to u, keep it up, 60,s the best, wow he had it all , ty again, angel hugs💜💜💜
8:34 *give Shawn a manly hug.** It's okay brother. Meat has that effect on us all. This song is about a man that laid it all out and got his heart stomped. Powerful music. 10:15 Love is all you need. All else is secondary.
I’m so addicted to y’all’s reactions… y’all rock… 🥰
I was lucky enough to see him Live Twice (Cheap Trick Opened for Him once and I was on the Front Row) and I'm an Old fart who's seen hundreds of Major Acts live in the 70's up until the present. This man is over the top bombastic and brilliant live but also the most humble and thankful human you ever heard all throughout the Concert.
Just an ohd Dallas Boy....
Jim steinman, genius
One of the greatest songs ever written!
R.I.P. Meatloaf, a genius gone to heaven.
This is like watching myself listen to this on the radio back in the day with the same look of wonder on my face...
Beautiful n true song,u can't make no one love you
My girl Mel, Oh hello Shawn. Good song, thanks for sharing. R.I.P. Meatloaf 🕊✝🙏
Thanks so much
You should try "For Cryin' Out Loud", it's a much forgotten but also beautiful song from Meatloaf.
RIP Meat. We love you.
Meat's got passion in that voice 🔥💯❤️
I love watching your reactions so much! I’ve been up all night binge-watching as many as I can. Meat Loaf can sang!
Meatloaf felt every word he sang. It’s the reason we can feel it too. His heart bleeds when he sings this song. Fantastic reaction choice.
That whole album is awesome, I'm 47 and I've been listening to that album since I was old enough to remember music, it was my 1 CD I ever bought. I still have the original album my dad bought in 1977 or 78 . But the album Bat out of Hell , is awesome period. Love the reactions
I’m 54 and this was the first 8-track I ever bought.
@@andreastone5922 I am 56. I wore my family out playing this over & over on a 45 bought at KMart on my used record player.
Legendary performer.
Jim Steinman (piano) wrote all of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, we lost both of them within a few of months of each other.😭😭
I still have this album on vinyl.
"I know you're lookin' for a ruby in a mountain of rocks,
but there ain't no coupe deVille hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box".
Meatloaf is brilliant.
Music will bring it out the hardest in us. Music is everything.
Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Is another Meatloaf production 🎸🎶☮️
I'm 55 and this song still gets to me big time😢
Meat. Never held back. Great performer.
You gotta react to "For Cryin'Out Loud." Meat knocks it out of the park..greatest love song ever! I love how you react to him...my all time favorite singer!
And to think, the so-called rock aficionados back in the day thought Meatloaf was a laughing stock. No one took him seriously. But once I heard his first album, "Bat Out of Hell" I was hooked. I've seen him in concert 3 times now, and it's always a major rush. Great reaction!
3 greatest love songs in rock and roll ,meatloaf -2out of 3 ain't bad , I'd do anything for love, paradise by the dashboard lights
This will ALWAYS be in my all time favorites, top ten~!
Meatloaf's debut album, Bat Out Of Hell, was released in 1977 and has sold over 50 million albums making it one of the best selling debut albums of all time. It has been certified 14X Platinum by RIAA. In 1993, Meatloaf released his 6th studio album, Bat Out Of Hell 2 : Back Into Hell, which spent 2 weeks at #1. I'm sure you noticed, but Meatloaf has incredible range.
More people need to be honest like this in relationships, no game playing. This way they know where you stand and they can decide if they want to stay or leave you. I love, love, love this song and Meatloaf (RIP) kills it! He gets a three outta three from me!
Meat Loaf is a great artist
“Paradise By The Dashboard Light”, “I’d Do Anything For Love”, and his song in,The Rocky Horror Picture Show “Hot Patootie-Bless My Soul”
This song is so honest... he wants her, he needs her but he will never lover her because someone else has his heart... how can you give someone your heart when someone else has it...
My man Shawn really felt that song! Amazing song!
I love watching you both react to music your souls shine brightly ✨️✨️
R.I.P Meatloaf x a true force of nature x ♥
That was painful
Some tips:
It shouldn’t take 3 min to get to the song.
Saying “wow” every 8 seconds is a distraction not a reaction
I first heard this song in the late 70s and still love it as much as you two! Great reaction, loved your video
So, this turns out to be one of my favorite reacts by ya'll. Just love ya.
ALL of Meatloaf's songs are powerful..
"I LOVE that Top, the BLOUSE aint bad either" BA DUM SHOOOOOO🤣
