In the modern vampire community, there are many designations of people who relate to in whole or part with the archetype of the vampire. As a professional fangsmith and event coordinator for Endless Night Vampire Ball and a devotee in the fangdom of Anne Rice, I have had the opportunity to meet more people in person in the “modern vampire community” in person than anyone else alive today. I have been involved in the international vampire community since 1993 and the following are my personal classifications on the different types of vampires.
As defined here the “VC” or vampire community includes everyone involved in the vampire scene or subculture. However, two types discussed below, ethical psychic and sanguine vampires, have formed their own subsets within the vampire community we in the Vampire World TV project call the “real vampire community” or (RVC).

The vampire community is a very diverse place with many different interpretations. The above are just a few.

I'm a psychic and sanguinarian vampiric type. I don't enjoy being vampiric but I will not deny how my energy works. It still makes me cringe on how I view myself in this state, but it can't be helped.

My intuition calls more the type called "The Living Vampire" since I've been Awakening and in the entire process of my awakening, I've been getting many of my lives back, I've been dying and being reborn. I constantly feel like a new person even though I've never changed. More like took off the mask and all the lines where they stole my power and started absorbing my energy and power back as an actual goddess. An ancient goddess come back and incarnated once again. I believe I have a Ancestor who is a Vampire on the high council, or something like that because this soul and this community created a projection to speak and commune with me. I understand the world enshrouded in secrets. I'd rather be a secret believe me, but I'm pretty pissed what's turned society against the divine feminine and all her embodiments sooo much. I was born on a full moon and while ago when I was already feeling different in middle school, that I looked up a website which pretty much saved my life and gave my mythological or inspired direction fueled by this realm in it which held this belief which validated my feeling of being an outcast. I am part of the ancient royal bloodline of light. I represent the ancient ways. The light and the dark together. Born from the Void. And I am also Dragon. I know secretly my higher self knows how to attain immortality and it's through Death and transformation but these are secrets that I'd rather leave buried. I'm a mixture of fangdom/vampire lifestyle - I'm a Romantic Goth so my life's maximum spooky at the best of times, and with such a love of vampire mythology and fiction, I incorporate a lot of motifs from that into my daily style (eg. red contacts, fangs, dressing like some anachronistic spooky thing), and I'll have the red glass goblets, drinkable/edible fake blood, etc. and I also play vampire role playing games, etc. I like the imagery and romance of the Gothic literature sort of vampire. I wish there was some sort of vampire ball or event in Scotland!

i always considered what you define as "living vampires" or a subset of living vampires as psychic vampires and the "psychic vampires" as defined by philosophical Satanism and your definition as another type of psychic vampire but i think you laid all of this out really well. i've played around with different forms of sorcery my whole life though didn't become too active in trying to make things happen until recently, but controlled psychic vampirism more as a skill for obtaining usable energy was something i learned early on and from trying to communicate with trees of all things.
there was maybe one time i might of accidentally hurt a entity with it but i generally try to be careful only to feed on plants, ambient energy, or energy that is radiated or freely given. i've noticed that when humans are in any sort of aroused state(and not just sexual) they tend to give off excess energy which if at a palatable emotional frequency can easily be fed upon while harming no one by doing so. generally makes more sense to me to try to build people up than tear them down as well and feeding on people directly i've noticed seems to draw them to me so it wouldn't make much sense to try to use it as any sort of weapon either considering both those things as far as my own research and experimentation in what i guess could be considered the "applied metaphysics" of it.
Roleplayer and Fangdom here. I've honestly always been hesitant to talk about my interests once i realized RVC'ers were a thing. Partially from not wanting to be chewed out, but, also , not wanting to be insulting. I did not having proper wording for my interests level\identity at the time. So thank you for this.

If you are HIV positive you are positive for life and you are contagious for life.
If you get into treatment, stay on top of that and your general health, your viral load can go down to an undetectable level. In the case of sex it means you have very little chance of transmission (there is still a chance though). I don't have statistics on this, and i'm not sure an exact study has been done, but I think the drinking of blood would still put the drinker at high risk regardless of detection levels because blood is where HIV is found. The drinker would be exposing themselves to a higher concentration of the virus even if the blood in question has a lower than detectable viral load. Thank you for bringing this up. I think its super important.

My nature of being a vampire is in the cross hairs of a ethical psych vampire, and sanguanarian, I avoid drinking blood from my lovley donor, but there are certain times it is needed due to lack of energy or life force cause of my location in not having my resources to obtain the energy or life forces needed to stay adequately healthy, I also use energy in many ways, feeding, healing others, balancing ones self/or a groop around me/Energy exchange, and purifying others and using the raw tainted energy from a individual for a sense of feeding witch in return enlightens the ones around me. its a continuous effect that never ends.

I think I'm a (great) bit of a Lifestyler, definitely a Roleplayer cause I play Vampire the Masquerade since I was twelve or thirteen. I really love the different mythologies behind vampire (folk tales, legends) and since I read Piercing the Darkness (also at the age of thirteen) and other books about real vampyres /vampires (like the books of Lydia and Mark Benecke) and of course your Vampyre Virtues and Magick books i feel a fascinating "grip" i can't explain. But I must say that I haven't met any vampyres in my life before.
I feed off of blood and energy I also love your books. While we may differ on some things. Your pretty lay chill towards me so I return the favor.
Ethical Psychic vampire, I work a lot with energies and vibratory fields, frequencies to find a balance and I do encourage people to awake and rise their vibratory field and sync with me so I can give them energy and then transmute their negative energy to positive energy and create a third vibratory field so we can both nourish ourselves from this third vibratory field and split the energy made in two, I am really ethical on what I do and don’t want to harm any, instead of sucking up their energies I work with it so if one wants to harm me, I redirects the energy they try to send me and ask to entities to take care of them, so they can judge for themselves (the entities) what is needed to be done because I don’t consider myself as a judge or a vigilante. And I am very powerful when it comes to heal people or myself.

Thank you for this! Im new to the VC and wondered what type i would be, ethical psychic vampire seems to fit perfectly! Im very sensitive to energy and emotions much like how classic fictional vampires are keen on blood and blood types right when they meet someone. Id describe it as I struggle producing my own emotions and energy so i mimic or feed off others to get to the same level as what would be considered normal. I don’t do it to much so the other person doesn’t feel affected cause id feel hella bad if i did it that much

I think the main one I’m apart of right now is a fangdom member and a vampyre lifestyles, but I’m a teen and my freedom is limited and I would absolutely love to more properly engage with the lifestyle apart from only dressing up, and one day I’d also love to dip my toes in the roleplaying scene. Jesus, I only just found out about this community and it sounds like such fun.
I don't think I belong anywhere in these groups, but I am obsessed and have a deep love for everything vampire. People in my life have always said to me that it's like I am not of this time and belong in some Victorian Gothic mansion (due to my interests and how I present myself / looks). I have always felt like the weirdo and been a loner because I just feel different. So maybe I do belong somewhere in-between these groups. Anyway, I really loved Father Sebastiaan's book.

In the current state of the world, there is everything (and more and more variety in that "everything") and one of the last rarities (in the sense of "uncommon" and not in a pejorative way, nobody is offended by this ) with which I came across were these black swans or "black swans", in our native language, who are the "donors" of blood for "vampires of the real world" (an idea exploited, in a different context, in the series of the HBO channel True Blood). An important point would be to understand what these "real world vampires" are, since although myths (and literature) speak of a certain type of creature, transporting them to reality can be more complicated, especially since it would be necessary to define what it is. a vampire and also what is not. If we define vampire as "blood-feeding creature", it could be anything (or person) with "particular" eating habits, however, when speaking of actual vampires, in these contexts, it refers to the community of people who It feeds on blood with some regularity, although there are other types.
According to Black Swan Haven, a black swan is a
"nickname for friends, family, and real vampire donors. You don't need to take a test, have a license, etc. to be one. We are a special group of people, just like our beloved vampires."
On the same site, they describe themselves as of all ages (as long as they are of legal age, since otherwise there could be problems of various kinds, starting with the legal ones), genders, shapes, and sizes, willing to donate a part of itself to a vampire, but under no circumstances are Renfields or pets, but are people with their own motivations and minds, who are willing to continue having them. Nor do they correspond to drama queens that seek to attract attention (although all communities and subcultures have to put up with them to a greater or lesser extent).

Before I found out I was a vampire at all I thought I was just an empath but it turns out that I'm a psychic vampire so I definitely identify with the ethical psychic vampire grouping of the community but also with the living environment so I guess a blend of the two

I am actually an ethical psychic vampire, following a self-created philosophy & magic system I cobbled together from the very best systems of magic & philosophy, (in my personal opinion,) that I’ve researched, and combined with the Living Vampire goal of achieving immortality through very karmically, morally, & ethically positive reincarnations.
I’ve relapsed into the traditional ways, before a few times, but I wanna stress that those “traditional ways,” are the ways that our greater “Normie,” societies forced us into viewing as our only option, since very long ago.
Psychic vampires, of both camps, have deep intuitive empathy, and can choose to respond to the unwelcome emotions, with contempt, especially if they’re unaware of their self-identity, as well as the identity of whose emotions they are sharing, the way that LGTBQ+ individuals can respond to certain stimuli negatively, dependent upon their levels of repression & recognition of self, due to familial & cultural/societal influence, so they can easily go into a kind of “survival mode,” state, just in order to stave oneself off from wanting to commit suicide, (i say all this from personal experience.)
I try to be extremely ethical with my energy consumption & I work with my partner, another ethical psychic vampire, to only “feed,” (which is an ugly word for what we actually do,) ethically.
