    100% awesome review

I do find I prefer the Springbank 10 these days over it’s older core 46% expressions. Namely the 15yo & 18yo. The 10yo is just wonderful at showcasing the distilleries distillate. Some of the more bourbon forward 12yo cask strength batches are fantastic too. Slainte

There's something special about the 10 year.

Same. I was actually a little relieved that the 15 and 18 weren’t impressive enough for me to do dumb wallet things. In order of preference…10, 18, 15. And I’ve yet to find the 12 CS at a price that’s wasn’t absurd.

@@Frank75288 I just bought (yesterday) the 21yo 2023 release for oddly the same money. £330. 😀

Get the sample if possible. I found it interesting, but I'm not a huge sherry fan. So I much prefer the 10, which is absolutely fantastic. It could be my only whisky
Edit - maybe I should give it another try. Your review shows that there's more going on (but the less sweetness of the 10, and the added leather smokiness is just fantastic)

It may or may not be the sherry-matured whisky for the non-sherry fans, depending on what exactly one doesn't like about sherry-aged whisky, but it's definitely not one-note.

Same here. And the 15, going for $175 if I can find it, isn’t worth the money to me. I WILL “overpay” for the 10 though, up over $100.

the colour difference is wild. We had a fifteen year in my whisky club, really enjoyed it and you do have to let it open up.
We have an 18 lined for later this year.

    Springbank 15 isn’t a 5 year older Springbank 10. They’re completely different.

Is the Springbank spirit filling the casks different?
I think Springbank 15 has more ex-sherry in its formula than the 10 does, and they are very different tasting, but otherwise they are made the same.

It was so good at the retail price I paid for before at $105 before tax. I took this for granted and now it's $160 if I can find it. Dang it!! I drank it too fast. Oh well.

Springbank 15 doesn't need to open up or breathe, it is phenomenal from the pop

Am I the only one who prefers the 15 over the 10 - and like, by a lot? I think I am, but thought I'd ask.

Maybe worth buying once if you've got money to burn and you're burning with curiosity or are in the Springbank cult, but in the glass, it's no more enjoyable than the massively less expensive Bunnahabhain 12, and is in no way better than the similarly less expensive Bunnahabhain 12 Cask Strength IMHO, and that's coming from a Springbank fan who's growing a bit tired of trying to justify these insane prices. Should we really care if Springbank puts its own labels on?✌️

    • @whiskywhereabouts

      Can't go wrong with Bunnahabhain.

I've got a couple of 10s but the 15 and 18 are only practical to buy with my whisky club. Bit expensive and maybe not value for money now.

@@graham2954 The 10 sells for $90 if you're lucky, but I've seen it sellout at $170. Sure it's good whisky, but so is Glencadam 10 for under $40.

I’d say this is clearly better than the Bunna 12. The Bunna CS is definitely on par or better, BUT, it’s a different whisky and doesn’t have the same character. So, to your point, the cost is prohibitive value wise unless you’re really curious about it, or really want Springbank’s unique profile.

SB15 drinks like an $80 bottle. It's great, but you're paying for the cache and name.
