Greetings Expert, excellent video!!!, ok could you make a video that contains "experienced" companies that make prototypes!, for example: I live in Panama, (Latin America) and it is very difficult for those who live outside the United States to find out about companies that are reliable and responsible for making prototypes!!!... I thought about going to Invethelp, but after seeing many of their videos I don't know if it is a good idea to go to this type of companies!!!!
Hi Stephen! Thanks for this great video. I currently have a couple of prototypes being reviewed by companies; just sent them 2 weeks ago. After 18 months I'm still learning from your videos, and this one fitted with the step I'm in right now. In that case, I had to hand build the prototype to make the sell sheet and video. And for more complex ideas you really need a proof of concept. Hope this one works so I'm able to build those prototypes!
Nice!!! Good for you Louis! inventRight coach Ryan Diez just wrote up an awesome blog about avoid prototype pitfalls, check it out: www.inventright.com/help/blog/prototype-pitfalls-2
Priceless information Stephen! Seen lots of your videos and they still blow me away every time :) Love the idea of showing the prototype over zoom instead spending time and money shipping it to them, dangle the carrot ;)
What about a NDA's/ Non-Compete Agreements for the company building the protoype? one company agreed to the NDA but refuses to do a non-compete. I dont know exactly how that will affect me. I have provisional Patent. Will that protect me during the prototype process?
I have an idea, design, a researched business plan for the product and plans for marketing. Where do I find someone to build it and possibly manufacture it? Thanks.
Any advice on making an electronic prototype? For example if the prototype involves making sound through speakers and has on/off buttons etc but you have no electronic building experience - can the prototype be a nonfunctional piece but enough to show a company how to build???
You can file an inexpensive provisional patent application (PPA) to get in the game with some protection. Find out more here: ip.inventright.com/smartip/
So do you get the PPA before the pitch or after the pitch? In another video I was under the impression that you get the PPA before you share the idea/invention with anyone. It is mentioned in this video that after going through the pitch and discussions of what works or what doesn't, this process will help you with the PPA.
Your videos have been a godsend. Question: are there any companies you can recommend that can build a ergonomic hydraulic chair to my design specifications?
I would always file a US PPA before showing your product. We have students from around the world and that's what we advise. It's only $70. You can use our SmartIP software to write your PPA. ip.inventright.com/smartip/ -Andrew Krauss, inventRight Co-Founder
@@inventRight thanks. But this USA PPA is valid just for USA? Because i"m in Milan, Italy. So this PPA is a way to protect the idea for around 1 year until someone want to produce it? Like students what do you mean? You have a online class?
I enjoy building prototypes,Stephen, but I spent too much time on a fairly complex product . I should have used InventRight’s Virtual Prototype first. Lesson learned…..
I need to build or have built a prototype. I’m not artfull at all! I’m stuck, i live outside of Little Rock Arkansas. Do I contact an engineer, and what kind?

I Stephen, I love your videos! is it possible to make a prototype with Disney characters on it and sell them the Idea? (example) say you invented a cool lunchbox and put there Disney characters on it to try and sell them the idea. is this possible?
Hi Stephen! Ok I have a Idea for Big box stores and maybe Mom and Pop and definetley also internationally. But it is NOT for retail use. I work in a big box store and I Suggest my Solution At least once a day. It makes shopping customer friendly BUT in my opinion It is a Saftey issue for the stores. Stores that have a customer injury cost them approx $2,500 Minamum for ANY injury! I can create a prototype in 15 min from product in the store, So i think i can approach them to make my Idea. My big question is how do I come up with my Cut of the sales?. I believe these items will be needed to be replaced 2X per year, only 100 pieces per store. But Who knows maybe 3500 Big Box stores @ 100 pcs per store 2x per year = ???
Great question! Andrew is doing a live Q&A today at 4pm Pacific on our channel - that's a great time to get your question answered! ruclips.net/video/sPhNU0ZpoRM/видео.html
Always have a prototype ready. Because big companies can replicate your idea in a day where you alone will need months. They can always say "oh sorry we were just working on that exact same product". If you have no prototype don't even talk about it. For example I was building once a generator, it did not work in the end. But it took me 6 months to make it. Some metal industry would make it in a day with their staff. I have to disagree with you in this video, this is like the worst advice ever.

I’m not a patent attorney, so I’m not giving legal advice. I have never used a NDA with a noncompete language.

Great video! What if i send out the prototype and dont have a patent on it jet? Could the company then just take the idea / prototype them self
