Today in Poland we have Saturday with beautiful weather and I am going to bleed brakes in my Willys. Greetings from Poland and God Bless you and your family.
Thank you, Had a wheel cylinder give up the ghost. Got the mess cleaned up, new brake pads and cylinders in. Time to bleed them. On my way to get one of those tools . Thanks again.
The design on those master cylinders' pistons is that if the pedal is pushed to within 2 inches of the floor, there will be damage to the inner piston seal. These vehicles were meant to be only bled with a vacuum tool. This damage occurs downrange in the form of early MC failure. That's right-after the tub is on.
Very good considering its not in a real world situation where keeping the resorvoir full and pumping the pedal a couple times while crawling under and closing off the bleeder valve
When you say recycle the oil. It is not oil, it’s brake fluid. What year did these vehicles change on the position of the primary shoe and secondary shoe. In all my experience the longer shoe is the secondary. The shorter shoe is the primary.I only been in the degree 42 years. ASE CERTIFICATION.
i have a 55 cj5 in the shop....came in for carb overhaul. finished that but it sat for 5+ years. it was towed in for fuel issue. but it had no brake pedal....goes to the floor. master cylinder was dry. so i filled it up and tried to bleed it. no dice...replaced master cyl..and bled....and bled... Since i have gone thru 3 MC, replaced rear wheel cylinders. Ive tried tilting the thing up and bleed 1 end then vice/versa. tried gravity bleeding, vacuum pumps.....had someone pump and open and close valves....im not sure what else to try. Any ideas?

Are you using DOT 3 or 4? What is your feeling about DOT 5 Silicone?
Thank you

Robert Lasater master cylinder plunger probably not sealing. If it sat that long it probably has junk rubber in it.
Robert Lasater Were you able to blow out the brake lines? How new are the rubber lines? I have had rubber brake hoses collapse internally before.
Why isn't there one single video that shows how the tube is attached to the bleeder screw? Seriously
Does the longer pad on he shoe go to towards the front of the jeep? on both the fronts and the rears? Thanks.
Short shoe always goes on front
yes. ...old willys are different. newer Bendix style drums are big in back.
