Its cheaper becuase is an indie game, biomutant was also indie but it costs $60 realease and it was obviously not a 60 dollars game and fail

The best part of this game is the music composer. Theophany is an absolutely amazing and talented soul ^^

The combat not being super in depth makes sense since this isn’t a AAA budget game, the amazing art style makes up for it though. This studio has a lot of potential to make some great games.
Even with triple A games, combat isn’t always a key strength. Breath of the wild is a key example. Very limited combat but still an amazing game
@@ShinigamiShionZ Because open world games tend to be bad in that regard, just look at games like Rdr2, Assasins Creed, Witcher 3, hzd, xenoblade 2, etc.

Just played like an hour of it and it's wonderful. It's exactly as you would've loved a PS2 and Gamecube era game to be. It's refreshing and nostalgic at the same time. And it's eye candy to look at, especially with that performance mode on ps5!

The visual is an experience in itself
There's a part early on with lightning that blew me away with how great it looked

@@kgc661 It's not open world. It's an "open" linear experience. More in line with Major's Mask if you want to compare it to a Zelda game.
What’s the story like? Easy to follow? Enjoyable?
Meanwhile the gameplay is slow and dull. Combat just involves pressing R1 repeatedly to stun-lock enemies, unless they have a shield then you have to press R2 once.

The reviewer’s issues with the “simplicity” of combat perhaps needs to be measured against the fact that this is a game that is meant to be accessible to everyone from adults to younger kids. I’m two hours in and the developers did a great job with this balance. It really is something the family can enjoy. Don’t even get me started on the epic musical score…so beautiful.
It also has to do with budget constraints due to it being indie, they did well on that front too. Reviewers need to take more into consideration why something isn’t as deep as they hoped it to be.
Perfect example was ori and the blind forests it’s simplistic combat but having way more in depth combat in the sequel due to microsofts acquisition and the money they earned from the prequel
Also, this is IGN where they say bad reviews about every game. All this "let down for this" and "poor in this". There is nothing wrong with the combat or story. Its perfectly fine and is a fun adventure game. IGN just think every game needs to be Dark Souls.

Yeah don't go making excuses for the game when that's just not true, some of the bosses are quite a challenge this game isn't simple to make it easier for kids at all
And an 8 is perfectly reasonable because the graphics and feel to the world is great but the combat and basic gameplay isn't anything different or special they got it right for once in terms of score
Cut scenes are just like a Pixar movie. It’s great.

The open-world concept is so overrated and overdone nowadays, it's sad.
Can we also mention that this is the studios first game, and its solid, no bugs and barely a frame drop, no load times on pc or ps5 (if you have an ssd in your pc)

Ember Labs is the same studio that made the Terrible Fate for Majora's Mask animation way back in 2016. Amazing to see their first game in action be this high in quality.

This game is pretty, adorable, simple and creative. And the joyful music melts my heart. 10/10

Sony should buy this dev and let them do what they want with unlimited budget. If they can make the next Kena Title an AAA game it'll be a great Icon for sony, Like Zelda for Nintendo

Never heard of this game prior to clicking on this review, and am currently downloading it after just 4 minutes. This looks like such a charming game! The fact that it's around 9 hours is also perfect.
Bought this yesterday, played through the first two hours and am loving it.

Respectfully, it wasn't meant to have advanced combat! Think Mario or Banjo Kazooie in terms of simplicity. Not how many tools you have but how useful those tools can be, even outside of combat!

The combat System of older games were like this, who evolves is you as a player, your skills are being improved, with practically the same movements since the beginning of the game.
Cut scene are great the story so far is amazing and very emotional the gameplay is fun and great to learn and challenging if you crank the difficulty up making your skills very important to utilize

This definitely ain’t for me story wise but 3D adventure platformers are a dying breed. With Psychonauts 2 being great I’m glad this is too.

Sounds like the developers probably think Kena will be successful to the point where they could make a second one so they could flesh out her story and background.

Support this studio and buy this game! For everything that isn’t as deep as some would like, a moment stands out proudly on its own two feet. Great art directions, nice animations, some fun puzzles and amazing soundtrack. Just a phenomenal job from such a small team!
Fantastic presentation and soundtrack, but somethings up with the surround mix, it feels like the L-R channels are repeated in the rears, hearing a lot of voices in the surround channels and generally stuff that should be in front
So far im loving the game on my PS5, love the world and exploring the areas

As a storyteller myself this where audiences and spectators fail, is this game gives you a story, and leaves people wanting to hear more, they’ve succeeded.
Game is not an 8 it’s a 10 if you grew up playing this type of game Dreamcast/ps2 era.. please buy and enjoy :)

The graphics are phenomenal on a Samsung QLED with the brightness and vivid colors! It probably looks even better on an LG or Sony OLED

This game is beautiful... but honestly that's it; it's really shallow on terms of plot, gameplay and everything else. Combat can be fun but it's really simplistic, and tha game can get repetitive real quick. Also, there is pretty much no replayability value.

The whole purpose of this game is to collect hats for the Rot!
Only two weapons so far, no indication of direction, boss fight is average, skills lv up is average .... quit after 4 hours. But looks amazing!!!

Just finished kena if your on the fence buy it this game is a blast to play this studio did a phenomanal job. Should be game of the year contender.
Very minor issue, but the font looks like it's still in Alpha. Looking forward to playing it though
