I literally love avery so much. I can never find a book anymore with a well written main character but avery seemed actually realistic and she had appropriate reactions to things. The author didn't write her as some invincible girl who never gets scared and I love it. Also Xander literally carried the book. Other characters like Jamie and grayson kept changing and I couldn't decide if I liked them or not but Xander? He kept me guessing in a good way
@@TheFunSizeReader I haven't read the Hawthorne Legacy yet, but I'm hoping that Grayson and Jameson will be given more of an opportunity to solidify their characters!
I read the first book 6 months ago. I tried to start the second last week and realized I didn't quite remember everything. I need a recap with spoilers....
Haha!! I always forget what happens almost immediately after I finish the book! That's why I try to make my videos right away or else I need a recap too!
Good review. I agree, I dont trust Alisa or Libby either. I know Libby is Averys sister and legal guardian, but Libby is also flakey, she likes violent men, and she doesn't seem all that in tune with Avery. Half of the book, Libby wasn't around and didn't know what was happening. So like what was she up to???? Hmm??? As for Alisa, her loyalty is not with Avery. Her loyalty is to Tobias Hawthorne and his will. Avery was just thrown into the mix but I dont think Avery is her priority. She's "looking out for" Avery only because the will needs Avery alive and well. So its in everyone's best interest is Avery survives. That's all. I dont think Alisa gives 2 craps otherwise. Nash is awfully strange to me, too. And I think he and Libby are going to hook up at some point. My thoughts on the book... I dont like how Avery is one of those girls who seems to fall for any guy who looks at her. Shes in this weird love triangle simply because both Jameson and Grayson are giving her attention. I dont feel like she actually likes either of them based on their personalities. I also didn't care for the entire Emily storyline, I dont think that info helped the plot in any way. It was sort of like filler info. Unless the Emily plot line is explored more later on, I dont see how it mattered much in this book. Overall I liked the book it was a good read however not one of my favorites. I do feel like the "games" were unrealistic and a bit silly at times. Idk, im not in a super rush to read the sequel. I probably will at some point but not now.
hey i loved this video, i also picked up the book for the same reason you did i thought the cover was beautiful. i am more drawn to grayson than i am to jameson which surprised me because at first i thought i’d prefer jameson. as much as i distrust xander i have got to say that he is my favourite character he is so unique and unpredictable. you bringing up not trusting libby much brought back the fact that she kinda of rubbed me the wrong way when i read this a few months ago. this is most definitely one of the best books i have read i had no clue where the plot was heading which made want to read more and come up with my own scenarios (which were totally wrong by the way). i am half way through the 2nd book and i’m thoroughly enjoying it.
I absolutely loved this book! Gave me Nancy Drew/Knives Out vibes 100%. I'm (im)patiently waiting for the B&N exclusive edition sequel to come in the mail. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen next but I do feel like at least one of the brothers will end up untrustworthy...I'm just not sure who yet! Another book you may like is Curse of the Specter Queen by Elder Moke :)
ok so i agree with the whole mystery was good. i love the thing with Tobias being harry. however, i hated the romance in it. i feel in it was forced and wasnt really needed. like we could still have those scenes where avery has this connection with grayson and jameson but it was really done well in my opinion, especially with jameson. also the mystery with emily was very annoying to me. i feel like it could be an important factor to the story but it could have been done better. when jameson was first introduced i really liked him but as the story went on he just got worse and worse and grayson wasnt really better when we find out his motives that makes him a liitle better but not by much. so im not really on either side but if avery does end up with anyone i hope its grayson. also Xander was the best character in that book and no one can change my mind. he was snarky, confusing and really unpredictable. i really wanted the second book to be in Xanders point of view because i feel like it would be cool to see more of him.
team Jameson all the way, I just really dont see any chemistry between grayson and avery- This is coming from someone who is about 1/4 of the way through the second book
@@TheFunSizeReader OKKKKKK!!!! SO IM ABOUT HALF WAY NOW AND I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TEAM IM ON!!!!! AGHHHHHH (Also I LOVE your videos so much this was exactly the recap I needed after waiting a year for the second book)
@@TheFunSizeReader Hey, I hope you're all good, and I am so sorry it's taken me THIS LONG to finish the second book! I fell into a bit of a slump but I got around to finishing it a couple of days ago. As for the team Jameson vs Grayson, I am definitely leaning more towards jameson :). Other than that I feel like I enjoyed and understood the plot and storyline of book one a lot better, However I'm absolutely looking forward to book three. I think it comes out late August?? I hope this finds you well, and I wish you a great April!
I guessed the ending after the first few chapters...never trusting booktok again. Also Nash and Xander are the only brothers I can stand and they were barely in it lmao
I loved it! But… the whole Emily thing was excessive. Around 50%-85% I felt like she was mentioned on every other paragraph and it didn’t even make sense.

SAMEEE! I forgot the whole reason why she got the inheritance, literally the one thing I’m supposed to remember and the main point of the book 😭
I completely agree with all your thoughts at the end!!! The ending just made my brain hurt trying to process everything that happened
It was definitely a brain bending book!

Me too! It’s on my shelf waiting for me!
ever since jameson ruined their little moment with the kiss i’ve been on team grayson all the way
Yessss!!! Team Grayson!
I’m team Jameson!
Tell me why!
Me too bestie♥️
He has 4 grandson, does she end up with one? Not interested in any love-triangle stories right now.
She does, but there is a little love triangle feel, fair warning!
Grayson’s team

Curious to see if you’ll think the same at the end of book 2!

Yeah, I didn’t super love the Emily storyline throughout all the books
So it's reverse hereim? 🤔
No, definitely a love triangle
team Jameson all the way heheheh
Boooooo. Haha jk! He has good qualities. But I’d still pick Grayson!
The second book tops it off for team Jameson lol
😄😄
hey! do u have an age rating for this!?
This one and book 2 I would say is ok for high school, some kissing scenes but nothing more than that.
