You pretty much nailed it. I felt like the whole games/scavenger hunt plot was unnecessary once we got past the fact she was going to get the fortune regardless. I struggled to stick with the book throughout the middle part. The love triangle junk was unnecessary, as well. Fortunately, things picked up more & salvaged the book in the later parts. Good, not great. Definitely could've been better i think. Should've made inheritance dependent UPON solving the puzzles. Wouldve made so much more sense, i think. Great review!
You got the exact thoughts right out of my mind, I super agree that it didn't deliver with the promises of puzzles, traps, excitement, more knives-out-esque plot, and etc. that it made in the beginning of the book. It just turned into a cheesy love triangle romance fantasy. New subscriber for sure!
i know this video is several months old, but i found it recently while i was 3/4ths of the way through the book. i paused before you got into the spoiler section and just now finished reading, and i agree with everything you mentioned. [spoilers here] . . . . you're telling me this multibillionaire couldn't just put these boys in private therapy sessions twice a week for the year following their angsty backstory?
Amber, since i found you with the Kindle Signature unboxing I’ve watched quite a few of your tubes… Can I just say that I really enjoy the way you do your reviews / tubes etc.. have a great day..
I absolutely agree! You took the the words out of my mouth!!I really tried to love it but it just wasn’t for me.I felt that it was just okay, I was intrigued enough to continue but not completely hooked
I felt the same way as you!! It’s nice to hear your thoughts. I just finished it and I’m disappointed but I still want to read the second one. Also it’s one of my favorite covers too!
I’m late to the party but I didn’t really like Inheritance Games I bought it because it was so hyped up but the plot could’ve been better and didn’t really make sense to me and I absolutely hate love triangles 😂 don’t know if I will be buying the second book
Omg!! This is the most exciting comment over!! 😭😭 Thank you for your sweet comment and for taking my channel to 1000 subscribers!! I will forever remember this comment ❤️
I'm very confused if I'll like the inheritance games or not and I'm scared I wont after I buy it so I'm a huge harry potter and pjo fan I love fantasy fiction and adventure but I wanted to read something thriller and ykwimm so what do u think abt inheritance games? I hv read reviews and stuff but what/how exactly Is it? Like how would u describe it or say to a person like me¿ Tyssmmm💗💗💗
i know you've probably read it by now but i had the exact same taste as you like last year and read the series and i loved it so much and i literally have a countdown to the last book comes out in a few days. the only problem i had with it was that i felt that grayson deserves so much more so i pray he gets a happy ending in the final book. the only thing that might put some people off is the slight love triangle between the main character and two of the four brothers but i think it was done well and in the end of the first and throughout the second, it was made clear. and a few of the characters definitely remind me of pjo characters like xander is the re-carnation of leo with the energy, chaos and invention-y personality it got me out of a reading slump and i definitely recommend it as a book in general but also definitely as a start outside of fantasy 💖
This book seemed like one long game of episode...not to mention I literally guessed the ending of the book after the first few chapters, yeah I'm never trusting booktok again
Here is mine, I felt the whole tobias Hawthorne is such a big shot thing was very unrealistic and just... Like a plot convenient thing, it kinda irritated me so much. Avery our main character- bro she is just there for the plot nothing more, I know I might not make sense but her emotions all just kinda bended as the plot demanded, she didn't feel like she had a personality. The boys would've been a hook, they were kinda a hook for me but I liked nash and Alex more and they weren't the main focus so oh well. (And I absolutely hate Jameson, he was the main focus in the story and I absolutely detested it.) Don't get me started on the Emily situation it was a big NO. The whole paparazzi thing and whatever the hell was going on, It just didn't fit well. Anyways what I did like was Max and Avery's friendship it was done well. I also liked the random paras of the boys accomplishments and how they were raised.
Rebecca stuck on Emily's death was so cliched, but I guess it's more a trope. And it's just a poorly executed one, atleast in the initial book (haven't read more)
The book was entertaining and interesting, but it wasn't exactly satisfying. There were so many points of climax and big reveals that they took away from eachother and, as you mentioned, most just got swept under the rug. Also, I know this was a love triangle but even so Avery's opinions on Grayson and Jamison were so confusing as they were constantly changing - one sentence she hated one of them, the next she was either kissing them or admitting at secret that went against everything she'd previously thought. Honestly she was so hard to predict and understand that it was really difficult to connect with her. Lastly, it might just be me being slow but all of the specific dates and random flashbacks and names and underdeveloped characters and miscellaneous clues and throwaway quotes and out of the blue lore-dumps were so hard to stay on top of 🥲 But, thats just my opinion, and dont get me wrong i was genuinely invested in this book, it was just... a LOT
Interesting cover indeed. Busy, but to the point it draws the eye moreso than it distracts, clever use of lightsources to warm an otherwise cool color scheme-- It reminds me of the covers from the Opera Book Club but with more attention to readability of fonts and richness of composition. I can't disagree with you ♥️
Thanks for the awesome review! I will definitely have to check this book out! Will you start a book club?? You're insights into every book is amazing and so well though out! If you do decide to do a book club, I would be very interested in joining!

I totally agree! Like because booktok hyped it up so much I thought it was going to be so much better!
Agreed!! It felt more like a drama than a book full of twists, turns, and riddles!
When I tell you scrambled for the pause button when it was time for spoilers 😩😂 I love your thoughts on these books!
😂That is so funny! Spoilers can be the best yet the absolute worst sometimes! lol Thank you so much!

He has 4 grandson, does she end up with one? Not interested in any love-triangle stories right now.
Yes there is a love triangle between Grayson, Avery and jameson

Step-brothers sort of plot but lesser thrill? Though character development was pretty perfect

I totally disagree I love this book the only thing I don’t like about it is that all the “bad guys” are always related to the family
U gotta read the 2nd book!
I love your personality . queen 👑

I completely agree!! That’s a great analysis of the cover! The author created one heck of a cover!
I respect your opinion but I loved this series
