Wolves At Night is one of my favorites, but this one!
    Fantastic,

I don't really care what this song has in common with Wolves. I think it's cool that they both exist, and I take the different title seriously. Andy is great and changing up his lyrics on the fly to keep the songs living, not just stagnant finished things. One reason why he's so great to watch live.

Anyone know of Andy doing any commentary on the two songs? when I found this it blew my mind! I've been an obsessive fan since the first album xD

    (lyrics, as i hear them.)
    i think i saw you
    punching holes in your eyes
    knees bent on the bedside
and arms stretched like a kite
in time you will grow, i'm so sure of it.
if you've got a reason then don't be gone too long
then time's gonna show your arms are actually able
'cause i confide in wolves at night
have you seen my baby girl?
i can hear it dying slowly like the new year
and i can fight my dreams like
    a virgin losing a child
clean my sins and wipe my mouth to rid it all
you've got me, don't be ashamed,
i've got more than you could think i have
after it's gone and done with
i'll be there to hold on
you've got my hair clippings in bags
break down your wall that says it's only
a minute or two longer, or two longer
'cause i confide in wolves at night
well have you seen my baby girl?
i can hear it dying slowly in my head
well I confront my dreams at night
like a virgin losing a child
clean my sins and wipe my mouth
    to make it go away...
    go away...
so now we're going out, we're going out
    we see you leaving soon
how i can watch it go
now we're running and we're running and
    i think i lost you,
oh where did you go this time
    oh tonight
    it's gone, you
    keep crying, keep crying
i tried my best to believe in your eyes
you tried your worst to believe in your rights and why
we climb all down your riverside
    your riverside, yeah
how dare you, how dare you
how dare you, how dare you

Did this come before Wolves at Night or after? Both are awesome, I just want to know which was the "finished product".

+matt jones Was just about to say the same,, i think the chord progression seems similar to a few of Smiths songs. Also the acoustic guitar accompanied with the male vocals.

Ugh I agree but don't ruin it for me. Hahah he's been my fave voice for like 10 years and my ex of 7 years said that. Ugh you don't know what a blessing he is to human kind until you see him live dude

I agree! Which song of Smith’s does it sound like? I cannot for the life of me remember the name.

Yes. But it is just as likely he may have done a remake. So it is pretty uncalled for to call a stranger on the internet a dipshit. Especially when we should just be celebrating Andy Hull/Manchester Orchestra.

has a very similar sound to Bright Eyes

+Natalie Hahn a little bit, without sounding pretentious as hell.

To say he sounds like Bright Eyes is a compliment, Oberst is the most talented song writer of this generation. Hull is great, one of my favorite artists, but to call Oberst honesty and raw passion pretentious, is small minded. Oberst is the best there is.
