- John Graham reviews the Montane Prism Mens Insulated Jacket. The Montane Prism uses a layer of Primaloft insulation making it warm, whilst still being light and compressible. It's perfect for active use in the mountains or everyday use on cold winter days in the UK.
This review covers the Montane prism's key features and benefits that make it an excellent choice for the UK's variable climate.

Looks and performs and fits better than the newer version...
Just bought one of these after watching your video on down or synthetic jackets. Needed a portable, packable cool weather jacket for trekking in Asia later this year. Great jacket. Also have to say thanks to John for the videos, I have used a lot of them to make an informed choice of the clothing I have bought. Including the 'choosing a walking boot' video It's good to see a guy who knows not only what he's talking about but also shows an enthusiasm and passion for the items he demonstrates, good job, keep it up!
I tried one of these on the other day in GO Outdoors in Swindon. Felt great. Going to buy one soon.
this is a great jacket wore it climbing while belaying also when summting in cold weather put this on instant heat, I know down is warmer but I live in scotland so its easier to dry sizing is normal if your a large buy a large cant rate this highly enough
Just got this jacket as a replacement for a Mont Bell thermawrap I literally wore out. Great piece; nice features. Pockets that can be accessed while wearing a pack, reasonably sized hood (not the giant "helmet compatible" variety) good wind protection and just light enough for October weather here in Colorado. I'll use it as a layering piece this winter. Beware!! I'm 5'11" and 155lbs. The large is "snug" under the arms, so size accordingly.
Can't fault the prism, great fit nice and lightweight. Can be compressed into its own pocket. I've used it as a pillow.
dont care about that jacket but the blue one you are wearing..ah, which one is that??
I was looking for jacket that is filled with primalof and has pertex microlight so it was easy choice, and I must say that its superb jacket, it blocks the wind, its really warm, I'm wearing only polartec powerdry LS shirt underneath it and it keeps me warm and dry till minus temperatures, only downside of this jacket ist that it is not suited for tall people (and perhaps even I am not as tall with my 192cm), I bought an XL, but its only to half of my butt, so it could be easely 10cm longer.
Thanks for your feedback oxdrift76 :) Have a great time in Colorado
Great jacket. This one is not an athletic fit. It is quite loose. Also it is quite short. In terms of warmth it is absolutely superb and is very well made.
Which Montane jacket is John wearing???
I was also curious and it's BERGHAUS FURNACE III but unfortunately it's no longer available
That's a very good point moochy
Awesome jacket I own two of them purchase the second because of how well thought-out it is. All the features you could ever want awesome fit enough warmth and insulation and it even folds up in its own pocket!
what size is he wearing ? he looks about my size ?
Do these montane fit like RAB? Rab easily has the dumbest sizing on this planet. Im 5'10 175 with normal size chest and shoulders. All the rab gear is so damn tight that i want to rip it in half...IS this how montane fits as well?
Montane tend to be a tight fit as well as they are atheletic but you would need to try them on to be honest. Maybe you would need a large size as it sounds like you need more space for comfort.
I tend to prefer tight athletic fits.
One additional comment: For those of you here in the U.S. who might be interested, I paid $83.00 US from Campsaver. And no, I don't work for Campsaver.
What is the berg house jacket called ?
1:37, "...fending off seagulls..." loooooooool, whaaaaaaat?
Don't forget it packs into it's own pocket.

Nice jacket but it is not waterproof. Save your money and buy a good waterproof / windproof jacket, for warmth if needed, wear a base layer and fleece underneath etc.
Hi Joss,
We do not sell this jacket as a waterproof, it's an insulated jacket as mentioned on the website and in this video. It's water resistant, not waterproof.
You evidently do not have much experience with Scottish winter/Alpine mountaineering.
Joss Cues use grangers repel on it you'll be suprised what it will take.
Also the only jacket that should be totally waterproof is your shell and your shell should not have any insulation in it that will give you the most options for the changing weather conditions when carrying your different layers
