8:07 YES. approaching drawing with a mindset like yours is phenomenal to see in new artists, that is the best way to start doing art 😭i am most proud of you please also do not be afraid of failing, art is about improvement, moving forward and creation. failure is what helps you understand what you did wrong, improve on it and keep growing and getting better
I absolutely adore this video and I'm so proud of you for trying something new and not being afraid for when you struggle!! - I grew up as a traditional artist up until two years ago when I bought my first Gaomon drawing tablet, and starting digital art was so so very frustrating to me because it was so different. I basically rage-quit and gave up my dream of being a digital artist, and went back to traditional art instead because I was more used to it. However, the more I put off learning digital the more bored I got with traditional and eventually I decided it was time to challenge myself again. I learned that since I was so used to having a sketchbook, that I could take anywhere, I really hated the tie-down of my drawing tablet because I had to be hooked up to a computer to use it. So I thought about it and I saved up money and bought my ipad; and oh boy was that a trip because I've only ever used android technology. But it really grew on me and I use it all the time, and it's wonderful because I can put it down and finish things later, or whip it out and draw down ideas so I don't forget them for later. - It was super weird to get used to the sliding of an apple pencil on a screen tho, so I *highly* suggest buying a screen protector off of Paperlike! They make wonderful ones that protect your screen and also give you that paper-like feel that you get from a sketch book. And they have a lot of different paper options that are not too expensive if you're just looking for the screen-protector! TLDR: - I'm super proud of you for trying this and wish you the best of luck! I know the beginning is frustrating but you seem to be doing super well!! If you do buy an ipad I highly recommend to you (and any other artist whos looking to swap to digital) to get a screen-protector from paper-like! I wish you all the best at drawing x
I'm currently struggling with my mental health a lot and while I'm not in active recovery your videos help me a lot to keep on moving and they brighten up my day often. I love listening to you and watching you play, and i do giggle at your silly rat jokes there and there haha. Thank you Denis :))
Please talk about Minka AS MUCH as you want I love cats. My cat passed away a few months ago, and while Minka doesn't look like him at all, she looks like my childhood cat that passed in 2014 lol. Also, I was training the perlino dutch warmblood👍
i find it so funny when people say "your cat would literally eat you if it found you dead" to demonize cats. okay awesome. he's hungry and he's cute and i'm dead why would i care
Everytime people say that they don't like cats because they don't always want to be cuddled just tells me alot about the person. Cats have boundaries and I feel like people who like cats are better at respecting boundaries not only with cats but also with people in their surrounding. Anyways Minka is adorable
Glad to hear you're not so harsh with yourself any more. And kudos to the artist who did your profile pic and channel banner (which I like a lot btw) for sending you this video. Acts of kindness like this can really make a difference. It may only be one person that is directly affected, but that person may then act kindly themselves, and then the effect multiplies. 😊
Your approach to drawing is 100% correct, and made me think of Picasso's famous saying; "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child." Stylised art is much more difficult to learn compared to realistic drawing, and every artist NEEDS that fundament. Cheers!
Yes yes yes to your equine art era ! I'm currently really struggling with how I'm feeling about my art rn, but I could never stop drawing horses. This just bring me so much joy, I wish you the same
As someone who has been drawing horses since like literelly when i could pick up a pencil - I agree with everything your friend said, but also! Try not to keep yourself limited in your lines. Loose gestures give movement/dynamism to a drawing and allow for more forgiving errors. I never *thought* about learning to draw horses, but if i had to do it all again, I would just say - references. And not anatomy, muscle, bone references, I mean photos and videos(or real life if you have the possibility) learn how a horse moves and how to translate that into a page, copy what you see throught simple loose shapes and as you go on, add whatever detail you want. You can even study just how to draw a hind leg, search up references of horses moving, how the muscles look under their skin when the leg is being used - stuff like that. Also, reference other artists, its important, learn how other people figured out how to draw a horse, adapt that into your skills in *your* way. But my biggest advice for new artists is to let loose, dont strangle the pencil and stab the paper, glide you pencil on the paper to create your lines, it gives you so much liberty on how to go on, you dont have to worry about erasing after every mistake, a lighter stroke (guide lines) on the paper can become invisible after you actually give definition to what you really want on the page. I hope this makes sense! You are definetly on a good way, excited for you :)
This was fr one of my favourite training videos from you because I relate to these rants sm lol Currently training the liver chestnut paint belgian warmblood who I named bumblebee :] And regarding drawing!! I draw digitally myself on photoshop (although I would like to explore some other drawings apps sometime) and while I dont draw horses (I mainly draw dragons) I can say it's been really helpful for me to learn how to do a semi-realistic semi-cartoonish artstyle and then to lean more realistic or more cartoonish based on your preferences I ended up sticking to semi-realism/semi-cartoonish since you can get the best if both worlds - exaggeration of certain anatomy to provide character from the cartoony side and realistic proportions and anatomy coming from the realism! Also please please please continue talking about cats!! I love cats so much and I have a stinker of my own, she's a black cat named Charley and I love her dearly
16:54 Fun fact: dogs probably to that too lol, they also are there all nice for the food. My dog is a rat and she only performs tricks if u have "Payment" (snack) to give in return. But in the end, whatever reason it is they act all nice and begging when u feed them, both cats and dogs love you, they just tell you in different ways and they have different needs in different amounts of quantities and it's better to respect their boundaries. People who hate cats just because they don't do whatever the owner wants them to do whenever they want them to do it, just shows that the owner is either ignorant on how cats work or someone manipulative that doesn't respect other's boundaries. No matter if its pet or human boundaries. Yes you can Prefer dogs over cats and viceversa and not like one much, but not "💥HATE🔪🔪🔥" any of them in the actual hate hate to the point of demonizing a frikin animal for not obeying you like a slave
The only way to fail art, is to give up. I started drawing cartoon animals and that helped me with anatomy bc it gave me a more open mindset, and looking at anatomy as not something to master. But something to add to my current skills. I now draw semi-realism and I enjoy it better than how I used to draw. Art is different for everyone and can't be done, one right way. Do what works for u and what makes sense to u. I think u already have a great mindset to begin and learn. U already have some talent and skills backing u up so keep at it!👍
I heard an artist say before "You need to learn the rules so you can break them." Crazy, I bought that course from the Brother Bear artist years ago. He is the one who said that quote. Wow >
Training my black Arabian, Quicksilver ❤ Edit: I'm really happy with the sale! I was only missing one Dutch Warmblood and I don't care for any of the other horses so thankfully it was an easy decision cause I only had enough star coins for one lol
Me trying not to laugh when you walk up to the Finnhorse rodent and call it a Paso Fino😂 I care abt everyone’s opinion, it’s how I am ❤ tbh I can’t do straight black coffee, I have to always add milk
I totally get what you’re saying about drawing and fear of failure but if drawing and painting has taught me anything is that you need to be accepting of mistakes. You have to try and wait for your skills to grow. If you expect perfect every time you will never keep going.
lol i remember one time i tried looking for an app to screenrecord and it got to the point where my computer literally crashed. after that, i ended up discovering i had gamebar and just ended up using that
When the paso finos came out, i hated them. Now? I hate them less as i just couldnt care less about them. They are one of the ugliest horses in game and their animations are HIDEOUS. and these are FACTS
