No temps, no peak clocks shown and no noise. How did this channel even get a 3080?
You saved us 15 Mins of our Life! Thx man.
thanks. i came here after the intro because i was already annoyed af. Saved me the vid!
not to mention, "this is significant you will notice this difference." its 2 frames on the first test and 1 frame on the 2nd test.... i'm not going to notice that for what was likely an hour or two of him running these tests... i'll keep mine at stock thankyouverymuch
Uhh I got a 3080 and I didn’t review it at all. Just had to know where to look, and no I didn’t pay over msrp.
Its a great tutorial i think... temps will depend on your system and your card model so no need to show it. And he showed us that he reached +115 on core mhz and 800 on memory clock. He even showed us the power it draws. Idk whats wrong with the video xd
I cant believe u didnt SHOW DB NOISE AND TEMPS. What a waste..
Reviewers got all the cards
true
Was sitting on the sites alot of sites went down Evga and new egg bh photo all down. Best buy i tried my best didnt get one thou. Hoping to still get one. I found some on Germany but they wont ship to us
Seriously
Yup.
@@avengethis97 try overclockers uk. They ship to the US but it's only a pre-order that they are doing right now. Hopefully this means I will get one but probably not anytime soon
This was more of a "how to use Precision X1" than an overclocking benchmark, but its just what I needed so thank you!
This is the exact card I picked up yesterday. Thank you for the OC guide ! Very helpful! Flight sim is running at 60fps Ultra with no issues. Highly recommend EVGA guys
1440p?
Temps?
EVGA HAS A GOD COMPLEX, but they are WORTHY
pre-ordered this 2 weeks ago, can't wait to install it next October!
@@stevemisfit1 that is insane I admire your patience
I'm from the future where u can only buy gpu's for double or triple msrp! YAYAYAYYYY future!
If this were Reddit I’d give you gold.
How were temps at stock and oc?
Who knows
Just got mine in the mail, looking forward to see how far I can push mine. Great video and very informative.
Ok guys I did some nice testing with mine (same card as in title). The voltage slider does absolutely nothing as far as my testing and research has led me to believe so I kept that at 0. I put the memory clock at +1000 and GPU clock at +150. I could keep trying for more but I'm happy with that and I haven't had a single crash in testing. The biggest thing when you are upping that GPU clock is to make your fans more aggressive. This is because as your GPU gets hotter, the voltage gets lower to compensate the thermal issues. Setting an aggressive fan curve allows your fans to keep the GPU cooler for longer keeping that voltage up providing more oomph. I have my 3 fans locked at:
25% at 30c
50% at 55c
70% at 65c
80% at 70c
100% at 80c
I went from 17880 to 18020 on 1440p test while keeping my GPU at 65c on 100% which is really good.
On the 4k test I got 9014 for GPU. Again I could try upping it some more but you run a point where your fans won't keep up to the thermal requirements or it simply makes your system unstable so you won't gain anything more, so I'm happy where I'm at.
My CPU: i7 12700kf OC to 5.0 P-cores and 4.0 E-cores at 1.2 volts.
RAM: 32GB DDR5 5200MHz
Thanks for doing something a bit different with your sample card and for showing the overclocking headroom on this one. Looks like they are all really pushing that power limit so the models with 3 PCI-E power cable might actually make a difference this time, assuming they have a higher power limit available than the stock cards from NVIDIA and 2 power plug variants.
Glad you liked it!
Got mine like 7 hours after launch some how. Congrats to all who got it.
was 2nd in line at my local mc. waited 16 hours lol
Thanks for teaching me how to OC... Would love to know temps tho :)
G'day Brian,
Thanks, that was a really great tutorial on EVGA Precision X1 & how to monitor what is happening with GPUZ 😁
Would have been nice to see the buttons at the bottom of the X1 screen for those not familiar with the app; just move it up a bit. Great tutorial.
lol never ever showed what boost clock the card was running, what a waste of time.
Listen turn the sound up... he told it 115 on clock and 800 on memory. It will vary on your card. Start at +30 on clock and go up until benchmark crashes. Start at 500 on memory and go up by small increments until it shows artifacts or is unstable.
Good video I've been trying to figure out the basics of overclocking..
Just found ur channel as the evga this exact one is the one I got off scan amazing video
Great video, learned a lot!
How would this compare to a fully overclocked founders edition? I've heard EVGA Jacob saying that their 108% power limit is virtually the same as a Founders Edition 115%. I don't know if I believe him. I just want to see a comparison. I run a mini itx and can only choose from the XC3 EVGA or the Founders Edition for my case.
What were the max temps at stock and with the overclock?
Will depends on your rig most cards run around 70 celcius when overclocked. You should not worry about temps unless your rig is small or full of dust....
2 years later i was actually able to purchase one.
Does your gpu clock speed only go up in increments of 15 mhz? My hybrid 2080 ti does that even though it lets me type anything into the clock speed box on X1. Thanks for the vid
Very much appreciate this video. Just got the evga 3080 ftw3 ultra and have never overclocked a gpu before.
New to using Precision X1, but I added 200 to Memory and 114 to Clock and I'm sitting around 2070-2085 Clock in game on Black Ops with Raytracing and Dlss. Temps steady at 60 or less. Fans around 50%. Maxed out around 260 watts power too. I do have a lot of fans in my case and very good airflow though. Testing at 1080p till I get my new 1440p monitor. Not sure if I can push more, but can't wait to see 1440p results.
Thanks for the guide! Just hit world record in Port Royal for the 3080 and a ryzen 7600x combo! Started att +100 Mhz on the clock fully expecting it to crash lol
Thanks for the vid! How on earth did you get the "Geforce RTS 3080" text to glow?! Only the EVGA logo glows in all other videos I've watched!! Unless the clip at the end doesn't have the XC3 in the testbed?! Thanks!
I overclocked my XC3 ULTRA GAMING 3080 to 1,950MHz on air. I also got the memory up quite a bit. I gained a 10% performance boost in gaming benchmarks at 1440p ULTRA. So really not bad. That is approximately what a 3080 ti will be.
Edit: I will add that I set my fan curve to 70% at 60°C and it never goes above 65°C under full load.
Can you show me how to do it
Hello, what were your Overclocking parameters, can you share them?
TY for this info, my 3080ti xc 3 is on it's way via UPS so this gives me a good general idea. I was worried that it is a dual 8pin instead of 3 8pin but hopefully it'll be ok.
Mine is running out of the box 1950 Mhz, i did no overclocking what so ever, it did apply a firmware update when i startet the precision, maybe they overclocked it by evga ..
What are the factory noise levels for this card please? Compared to MSI and Asus at least
Thank you, any chance of one on undervolting this same card?
Hey! Would you still recommend this card? Besides the power limit it seems really nice. Or is TUF better? Im just trying to figure out what is the absolute best 2x 8 pin 3080 model. I know the FE and gigabyte models have abysmal memory cooling
If I recall, the TUF cools better. It's supposedly the best 3080 with two 8 pins.
this is great and all and i completely understand the process... apart from what i need to see for me to determine that i have hit a GPU clock or memory that is unstable. you just said "push until it is unstable then drop it back down a little bit so that its stable", but what am i looking at to determine that i should stop upping it?
The PC would crash. So whatever you were increasing take it back a notch
Great video. Is the EVGA XC3 Ultra dual slot or triple slot?
Dual slot.
What about noise and temps? My last EVGA (GTX1080ti) was a jetplane and had a hard job to keep temps below 80c
Waited at Microcenter from 1900 Wednesday night and got an EVGA card but even at 17th in line it was really close. They should have put more cards out at launch.
Super informative - thanks!
What is this, 3 generations that I've seen on your channel? Over 100 subs in that time. Good for you, although are we going to see an oc challenge with it?
I know this card is not the best version of the 3080 but I think this was mainly designed a bit smaller so it could fit in a ITX case I assume and they had to lower the voltage and put a power limiter so the card doesn't catch on fire. I might go for this one because I have to you would say get the FE but it doesn't fit the theme of my NZXT H210 build.
Just got mine set up, this thing is a beast! 120 FPS at 2k on Star Citizen
So i tried to do some test with my gpu clock and run a benchmark for it. it ran well but i was hitting the voltage limit. should i be worried for that?
Hi, how thick is the thermal pad on this graphics card?
I have exactly the same video card and it is very hot
What is a safe power limit? I currently have a Cougar 1050W Gold 80 PLUS RGB. It shows I can go up to 118%? Thanks!
thanks for this can you please do the pny 3080/3090 next overclock test
I'm going with this 3080 since it is the only one that will fit in my case apart from the FE card.
Temps and Noise would be really helpful and much appreciated for ITX and SFF considerations, since the EVGA is the only 2(.2) Slot 3080 card around. Dan Case owner here.
if you itx I would undervolt the card for sure for less heat output
What about temps? and how many Mghz on core and memory ))
Please let us know the temps at full load!!! And noise ofc
is the ICX button active on precision software with his card ?
You should have just run the auto OC tool withing PX1
I know my comment is old but damn, this video helped unlock my GPUs hidden potential!
330w at close to factory clocks... What does that mean if the power targets get increased in future bios updates? I'm not sure how power draw scales but would it be likely to hit the 375w limit with the 2 8pin cards?
It's possible, I was seeing peaks over 350 with this overclock. It's unlikely we would see a power-modded VBIOS from EVGA for this card however. Maybe for the Kingpin.
Am i the only one who is going back and forward and looks for the review part in the video?
does it say "review" in the title?
I got here from videocardz.net lik was saying evga and msi 3080 review :)
Whats the point in overclocking this anyway its the smallest cooler on a 3080 custom design with 320 watts it wount overclock... if you want to overclock you get the ftw 3 or a 3 slot card...
@@stepnyvlk9695 Uh, 1. A 115 MHz GPU overclock and 800 MHz memory overclock is not 'won't overclock'. I'd say that's actually pretty damn good with barely any power headroom. Some games, depending on how well they are optimized, that could be an easy 10 fps, which could easily be the difference between fully utilizing a 144 hz panel or not. 2. Absolute power limit for a card with 2 8 pins is 375w, more than enough headroom to squeeze out a bit more performance.
@@KainArkanos thats not the point the point is that who wants to overclock:
1. Has to have the card witch in EVGa case will be weeks from now.
2. Doesnt usualy buy the smallest card/cooler on the market if you can get an msi or simmilar for less money.
The evga xc3 is more oriented on small cases i guess but even thats not true anymore... 2.2 slot ? Who has space for 2,2 slot? You either have 2 or 3...
And 144 hz? No card can keep a staedy 144 hz its pointless plus most ppl dont see the difference anyway. If you have a decent enough monitor you have the money for a 3090...
At what voltage it can hold 2000 stable on the core?
How much power does it draw after oc?
Out of curiosity, what's the total system power draw under load with the OC'd card?
450 watts
the oc may have given you 300 more points but that only equates to +2fps average over stock clocks
not always true, I overclocked 3060ti to test in valhalla there was difference, is it needed not really, if you want the most fps why not then you watercool the card as well
my same exact card maxed out at +100 on core and +750 on memory
What was the final power draw?
Can i also oc my EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 with the same steps?
First time oc my gpu need help thanks :)
The gaming x trio is the card i want to get . for this gen i have built an all MSI build and all that is missing is that card
Hey where did you get the newest precision x1 software, the newest version is 1.0.7 on the evga website. I was able to pick up a 3080 xc3 ultra but its using old software and i can only control two of the 3 fans.
It's on the EVGA website listed for 30 series cards only.
@@landonedington6268 it's there now. Wasn't there when I made my comment. I got my card in the morning and they updated it in the. Afternoon. I appreciate you helping.
Final boost? Temps? Fan dB?
Is it ok to overclock this card using msi afterburner??
can u let furmark run and make a sound recording?
as many have said, no temps or peak clock info?
This guy got some big hands that make the card look a bit smaller.
So in theory if I buy a XC3 Ultra I can OC it to FTW3 Ultra performance?
I just got this card and for some reason in precision (1.0.7) the LED tab is missing. What version are you using @BPS Customs?
yeah i only have LED Sync
Currently going through the same thing. I have yet to figure it out.
Maybe they will update it
@@electronicrice7635 if you figure it out please reply back
@@iMelian100 if you figure it out please reply back
When download Precision X1 , it prompts me with a warning to update firmware and to restart the computer. My computer restarts and Precision X1 opens again with the same prompt.
The xc3 runs super hot stock... now imagine it OC.
Not if you use a fan curve and enable it in Precision X1. Mine isn’t OC’d yet and idles at 25*C & under load at 65 to maybe 70*C which is perfectly fine
Same card here maxed out at +170 clock and 700 mem with +50mlv max temps abt 78 C
This is NOT how you overclock. You need to at least play with the voltage and clock curve to determine how much voltage is ACTUALLY required for that clock speed. That way you undervolt to only the voltage needed. This reduces the power consumption (so less likely to hit a power limit) and temps. You can have one person hit 1950mhz core and downclock to 1850 because they're feeding more power than needed, hitting a power limit or thermal limit. And another person can tweak it so it's only getting just the voltage needed, hitting no power or thermal limit, allowing him to sustain 1950. You wouldn't get any of that from this video.
Great channel!
Thanks man
How do you know if ur testing passed?
cmon bro this card is going to be in major stock this week according to toms hardware, you're the only one with a single review on this EVGA. Needs DB noise and temps, we depend on you guys!
Stupid Question but is there a program that allows for you to see the FPS on AMD cards, Afterburner doesn't or not as I can see it nor does AMD software OSD. I see this all the time for RTX cards? Please help Brian!!!!
helo.. can you show how to OC Zotac rtx 3080 trinity please.. please.
Why do you think AIB cards are limited in power limits? The FE can do 370W.
Temperature?
How does this card compare to the FE out of the box with no manual adjustments?
I also think there would be some value in adding a table at the end with the OC settings, max temperature, and power consumed at each step. Maybe that's not needed for a guide but I would have found it useful.
Jayz 2 cents did the comparison with this card vs FE.
@@laingadaing I think he set some fan curves manually though. For whatever reason, this card seems to underperform the FE and I'm trying to figure out why.
Crappie day, no cards in stock anywhere.
Do you have any experience with a the 3080 TI model of this card I have it and have no where near the overclocking number you have. The numbers vary that much between the two models. Everything I've seen I have horrible FPS compared to what I should be getting in games when I've benchmarked it compared to other benchmarks I've seen with similar setups.
I also have the 3080ti xc3 ultra and my temp are trash. Always thermal throttling. 83c stock and when I move it to 91c it throttles there too. Maxed the fans out and it didn't make a difference. Plenty of air flow too. I've been trying to find a solution to my problem. Wondering if you have a similar issue?
One of the few cards that fit in my Dancase
It's almost the same size as the 20 series FE cards
@@BPSCustoms If the newer 3080 FE didn't shoot hot air into the PSU, I would be much easier to work with in sandwich layouts. Curious to see how the 3070s will stack up.
I have the same video card did same over clock setting and keeps crashing on forza horizon had to drop gpu clock to 70 and memory to 500 running a rog 750w psu could that be the issue what psu are you running?
Different GPUs clock differently, this is true for every generation. There's no "one size fits all" for these cards, you have to test them yourself.
Max oc 2100 mhz?
no temps at all?
Will a 650w power supply work with this EVGA card without overclocking?
yhhh
It will be close. One reviewer with a FE and a 600W PSU and a new i9 10900K blew his PSU out, but you have 50W on him and maybe a less power hungry CPU?
i hope that with a 3600, or a low tdp CPU, you can use it with a 650W just fine, see the bitwit review, it shows the power consumption in his review.
@Jacob Your math might be fine, I can't say without knowing specs, but I will say this card has a min requirement of 750W on the product page. I suppose the worst thing that could happen to Matthew S is his PSU dies and he ends up having to buy a new one though, so it's probably worth trying.
Might be cutting it close, and depending on the quality of the PSU you could see crashes during heavy load scenarios.
I see some other youtuber did some testing and came up with a conclusion that undervolting gives better performance than overclocking with this particular card.
is evga the one everyone getting?
The Asus Tuf is the one that most people want. The EVGA might be the 2nd most-wanted.
So small and compact (comparatively)... wow. Wish it had more output ports though.
Just out of interest, what setup do you have that would need more that 3 DP 1.4a and 1 HDMI 2.1 ports?
@@richardrussell7082 I have tons of monitors laying around that only have HDMI or DVI (and they're cheap and plentiful on Craiglist or thrift shops). They work great as extra monitors for work. Even some new gaming monitors only have HDMI. Never mind you might want to also hook up to a TV or HDMI VR headset as well. One HDMI is totally insufficient. They should have 3 ea of DP and HDMI. My old RX480 has better connectivity than these cards!

Hey I got this exact card at microcenter today but for some reason there's no way for me to change the RGB in Precision X1 there's not even a tab at the top to control lighting. Yes I have the latest version of Precision X1 installed.
I'm getting tired of the default rainbow puke.

I'd love knowing temps, especially for the evga one
They've been in a couple of different videos, the msi gaming x seems to be the quietest, the Asus tuf is the coolest but sacrifices a few db of noise to do it. Seems all the aib's are outperforming the FE.
why my gtx 1080ti have graphic score 10 101 and a 3080 only 8000??? thx
It would be useful if you showed the actual clock speeds....
I own a 3080 xc3 ultra... The temps at stock clocks are ~72c and ~75c overclocked (+150 core/+1000 mem) with auto fan. Fan at auto goes up to 70-72%. Zero coil whine and not loud at all! The issue with both 3080 xc3 & xc3 ultra is that power seems to be locked at 340w and sliding it at +108% (366w) does nothing. It's a known issue in evga forums and people are requesting for a bios update like they released one for the ftw series. I doubt evga is going to release any though for xc3 & xc3 ultra though. I still can't believe this guy got a free 3080 and I almost paid 1000 euros for it...
So whats the best i can choose one hybrid xc3 hybrid for 1560€ or one ftw3 hybrid for 1750€ then
