Yes you are right. That is why Dream Theater is my best band in the world.
They got it ALL technicality, emotion, art, trance session, story telling, powerful energy, chill out energy ..... anything !.
    Thank you for reaction this.
“A Change Of Season” will be another great great trip and journey.
    One of their masterpiece.

Haha an indian origin/native indian Dream theater fan! It's very rare to find people of India into prog Rock and soft metal genre and related genres especially into the GOAT bands like DT,Pink Floyd, Metallica,Genesis,Rush,Guns n Roses,Yes, Queen,Iron Maiden,AC/DC etc

One of the most beautiful songs ever written ... with goofy lyrics/story. The album came with an instrumental version too.
If you haven't yet, check out their song A Change Of Seasons.

Easily my favorite Dream Theater song. It’s not the most technically complicated, but it is IMO their prettiest song from a musical and compositional standpoint.
The story behind it is quite funny as well. It’s based on a situation guitarist John Petrucci (along with his guitar tech) found himself in while touring in Italy. He met the titular Count who offered to give him a tour of his estate and surrounding countryside. Of course he accepted, but as the tour progressed he got spooked by some of the stories, starting with the Count telling him that the character of Hannibal Lecter was based on his brother who he was then introduced to, followed by stories of Italian soldiers hiding in the villa during various wars and dieing when they became trapped in the barrels of wine they were using as cover, and culminating with the mummified remains of one of the saints kept in the manor’s private chapel. Through a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings, He thought he was going to be killed or something and had a bit of a panic attack, much to the amusement and chagrin of the brothers. They later suggested that he write an opera with the Count as the main antagonist, so he did. XD

A story about John Petrucci went for an Adventure in Florence, Italy. The story recalled and started during Dream Theater 2002 tour where John Petrucci and his Guitar tech went for a visit to meet the Count of Tuscany and view the wine farm. But for John Petrucci this is not a regular visit as he thought it would be.
Yeah, that’s another example of a story that I shared, you know, something that happened to me that I would tell my friends and family but I never really wrote about it. Yeah, it’s sort of hard to follow the story but it’s basically a few years ago when Dream Theater were playing in Florence or something and there was my friend who is my guitar tech, he’s also wine importer, so he wanted to visit a winery in Tuscany, so he asked me if I wanted to come along. So, yeah, the guy who owned the winery is a count, he wasn´t the count of Tuscany, he is a count of something, anyway he brought us to this winery, it was a very old castle in the hills of Italy, it was very bizarre, you know just really weird stories the guy told, you know, like a mummified saint and a chapel, very strange and weird, I thought it would be great to tell that story, probably make a movie of it!

Loved your reaction, Dream Theater has been my fave for years. I'm a drummer, so I appreciate the weird time signatures. I also write drum parts and lyrics, so DT has been a definite influence on me. Working on a new album concept, after two failures due to band member deaths. Our current situation gives me lots of material to express.

So happy you have taken to Dream Theater. What is most amazing about this group is how ridiculously well they play live, given the complexity of their material. Please do a reaction to Breaking All Illusions from the live album Breaking the Fourth Wall. And if you really want your mind blown, check out the instrumental The Dance of Eternity from the same album. They are all classically trained musicians, the guitarist, bassist and drummer from The Berklee College of Music and the keyboardist from Juilliard.

So much Dream Theater available to listen to. Definately listen to the early stuff and if you liked Count of Tuscany listen to the Metropolis albume....album.... will take a full hour of your time but it is a rock opera and tells an amazing story if you really listen to it. Musically the whole thing kills it from heavy rock, prog rock, unexpected instrumental, and very subtle ballad work as well.

  • @dandecastro51

    This will sound ridiculous but
Despite many obv differences, DT has always attributed their prog roots to the influence of "YES". THAT has always been a matter of "pride" for me lol. Cuz I love Yes... and DT :)

If you’re up for it you should react to their album “Scenes from a memory” aka Metropolis Pt 2, from beginning to end. Best album of all time IMO. Hello,
Another amazing reaction about an insane song :).
Another epic song they never played live - maybe the only one - with yet their best guitar solo in my opinion: "The best of times". Same album, the song before. Simply magic, especially lyrics.
U've got an epic choice to make about DT songs U will pick ^^ The "Change of seasons" I already suggest before (live version if possible) or "Illumination Theory"...
.. and all songs other people may propose...
Good luck and in waiting for your next reaction !
