I tell already, this is gonna be one of my favorite fighting game OSTs. I fuckin luv jazz and this game is gonna be epic to the max bringing much needed variety and balances to set a new standard for fighting games. Alex is the man for doing this, he and everyone else working on this game including Michiru are hungry and you can see it. They got the motivation and inspiration to do this even after the many years it took to bring this project to life, thank God for yall.
I am shocked because I usually see games like this as having a hardcore rock music score. Like Guilty Gear series for example and BlazBlue series. It's refreshing to hear crisp, diamond-shiny jazz for a change. And you can tell the Woman behind the Castlevania series composed this music as well, it has that Castlevania-esque aura about it.
Sounds really good! Although you guys might want to shorten the length a bit. Right now as it stands it needs 3 rounds each lasting 60 seconds to complete one loop, which doesn't happen too often in fighting games IMO.
Sold. The music is just icing on the cake. Kinda makes me think of 3S for some reason, and I mean that with all the complements in the world. Can't wait for this to be released.
@YanDaMan263 The game has been in production for years. They definitely got enough time to find and convince the right people for the sound. Too bad the trailer from 2007 isn't around.
@AkumetsuLord She didn't just "make this song" for the game. She's composing the entire soundtrack. They got her to do it by... paying her money. How the fuck else?
@Vaankar456 I don't see what's wrong with that? :D I can never get enough of Michiru Yamane's music, even better if it's in her Castlevania-style. I became a fan of her when I was 12, now I'm 27. I even liked her music in TwinBee (for NES and arcades), lol.
@PsychoJosh So what you're trying to say is that you are happy if a fighting game that is developed by an independent producer with a lot of professionally-made assets that feature a large part of the overarching video game community (Mr. Ahad has very talented artists under him such as Persona-sama and Paul Robertson, if I recall; the music is developed by Michiru Yamane, etc; Mike Z is a stalwart of the FG community, etc.) -- is that correct?
love, this is such dopest fighting game track ive heard since mvc2 clocktower i just hope the entire soundtrack doesn't sound too one dimensional like blazblue
Sounds great! But I cant help to think I'm listening to Castlevania. Guess Michiru Yamane and Dracula have really merged into one single entity after all their waltz
@PsychoJosh I guess what amuses me here is that your argument consists of arguments that you can effectively bring up against any other game in existence right now (particularly in the fighting genre), and they're all applicable to some extent. They're also not very valid. As for the mechanics, if you haven't yet had a chance to play Skullgirls, then passing any judgment on its play is... silly, really. I've played the beta at Evo 2010, and I like what I've played so far.
@PsychoJosh As for the art style, different strokes for different folks there -- you're the first person I've seen complain about its "horrendous fauxnime art style" or obnoxious characters. I think the game is surprisingly charming and definitely not at the fetishistic level that Arcana Heart pretty much exudes all over the place. (Can we agree that Arcana Heart is disgusting, aesthetically?) As for games being wankfests for their authors... yes. All of them. Guilty Gear, KoF, etc.
@foottothenuts The point isn't to find a similar song to this one, because this is strictly the style of Michiru Yamane. There is plenty of fantastic American video game music, namely Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the Donkey Kong Country series, and just about anything in Lucasarts games. Stop being a weeaboo. And yes, it is all jazz. The ABABC format, the variation of the 12-bar Blues chord progression, the soloing, the unisons, and the melody are all heavy Jazz elements. Lern2music
@PsychoJosh By your logic, any game that came out after Melty Blood should die, considering that a lot of modern games pretty much lift a ton of ideas from it (notably TvC and MvC3). More importantly, anything after SF2 is right out: everything is ripped off. Fuck it, Super Turbo needs to burn in hell, as the concept of "supers" is something taken from SNK games (Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting). While we're at it, let's just completely eliminate the entire game industry outright.
@PsychoJosh Fauxanime style, huh? That's quite funny, because its more or less inspired by American animation. Case and point, the character Peacock being a prime example. Your argument concerning plagiarized mechanics are a bit of a moot point, and quite frankly, it seems to be that your argument is concerning just an exorbitant amount of hatred you feel for Mike Z rather than a game that you have yet to play.
@PsychoJosh Either way, I suspect you will continue to pour more ridiculous vitriol and hate for the game mainly because you dislike the fetishy look of it. I can somewhat see that, so I'll give you a pass there. Again: Arcana's aesthetic is disgusting to me, and if I was to say anything about Skullgirls' aesthetic, is that it the fetishized designs are at least magnitudes more interesting than loli-in-a-swimsuit-in-a-blob-of-water.
The game was "censored" a little, but it's still the best fighting game out there lol. What they did to things people paid for isn't forgiveable though. I'll play this game anyway
I'm not really that big on jazz, but I'm really feeling this.
Awesome
i like how the church is shrouded in darkness, but the club is lit up by the heavenly light....
Yep thats perfectly ironic

Ur wrong)
This sounds very reminiscent of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Surely, not a coincidence.
Idk why but I love this part
1:43 - 1:58
Wow... nice pointing that out. More than just reminding me of it, I'm pretty sure that it's direct inspiration.
Sold. The music is just icing on the cake. Kinda makes me think of 3S for some reason, and I mean that with all the complements in the world. Can't wait for this to be released.
Yamane is ridiculously talented and has a distinctive, extremely attractive compositional voice. So happy to see her striking out "on her own"!
Oh my god this was 7 Years ago? Holy shit man. A baby from 2011 is 7 years old now
Nice! Looking forward to both the game and ost!
michiru yamane is back!!! can't wait to play this game
This is really good, nice hob guys. Can't wait for the game!
love this track but I hope we'll get to hear some more music soon
Omg I love Yamane work for the Castlevania games and now its on this game, look that jazz feel
Oh yes! I can't wait to hear the rest of Michiru's composition in the full game. X3
If all of the soundtrack ends up being like this, I will definitely buy the game.
Very nice. Michiru Yamane is so amazing.
How did such a random game get such a legendary composer to help is beyond me. Guess its worth a checkout at least.
I know what stage I'm going to be choosing all the time!
The soundtrack sounds really promising!
waaaaay too good!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!
So freakin classy
@rorino700 Not until the game is out will you be able to listen to all of the songs.
Alright! IT'S SHOWTIME!
a fighting game that says take 1 action!
sweet!!!
3:04 aww how cute :3 Parasoul's playing the violin
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the composor for the music in Skullgirls also made the music in castlevania.
What a cute lil chibi drawng at the end X3
Instrumental pop with a side of jazz! My part is the groovy piano solo(1:12)...
Are you saying your favorite part or a part you contributed to
@YanDaMan263
The game has been in production for years. They definitely got enough time to find and convince the right people for the sound. Too bad the trailer from 2007 isn't around.
You guys got my money on day one.
Michiru does it again
I really want to go to the River King Club.
Yay Michiru Yamane!
@creatinggodz this ost was actually made by random guys the company found in town so i hear
anyone else notice there's a Bum version of ryu sleeping on a wall In this I saw it on the demo :D
it sounds abit like the Darkstalkers ost imo, although more jazzy :)
Please to do a sampler of the track that plays in part during the composer's announcement! Really interested in knowing it's name
@Ivoreh because it was made by the beautiful MICHIRU YAMANE !
this song reminds me alot of "rush" from the cowboy bebop ost for some reason. great song :D
I didn't know this was Yamane and I thought it sounded like Castlevania, you can't no one here
@AkumetsuLord She didn't just "make this song" for the game. She's composing the entire soundtrack.
They got her to do it by... paying her money. How the fuck else?
sounds soo much like castlevania.... I LOVE IT!!! XD
Let's go Samson!
@Vaankar456 I don't see what's wrong with that? :D I can never get enough of Michiru Yamane's music, even better if it's in her Castlevania-style. I became a fan of her when I was 12, now I'm 27. I even liked her music in TwinBee (for NES and arcades), lol.
Exactly :).
Ah, the "Paint the town Red" theme, now with extra Annie in it !
@PsychoJosh So what you're trying to say is that you are happy if a fighting game that is developed by an independent producer with a lot of professionally-made assets that feature a large part of the overarching video game community (Mr. Ahad has very talented artists under him such as Persona-sama and Paul Robertson, if I recall; the music is developed by Michiru Yamane, etc; Mike Z is a stalwart of the FG community, etc.) -- is that correct?
i love reading arguments on youtube
@Xilnold lol probably, i would like to know how they got her to make this song for the game
@YanDaMan263 Because Mike Z is the fucking man, is how.
@nothingxs You're kidding. This game is just going to be single-character MVC2.
love, this is such dopest fighting game track ive heard since mvc2 clocktower
i just hope the entire soundtrack doesn't sound too one dimensional like blazblue
I'm having a panic attack, cuz, I'm dying to get my hands on this game!!!!!
@Xilnold She probably did owe them money. The tune sounds as if like she didn't really care.
SHit
I lov this jazzy style
Damn, this composer is awesome
Intant Day one buy for me, fuckers.
(Turns on Castlevania Order of Eccelsia)
Would it be fitting to classify this track as "jazz fusion"?
I somehow wish it was shorter to loop. The first bit is really catchy, but it becomes less interesting as it goes.
This is why I wanna learn the Piano! =^_^=
So this is the new Dudley's stage?
Wish I could like this more than once. SO GOOD!
Sounds great! But I cant help to think I'm listening to Castlevania. Guess Michiru Yamane and Dracula have really merged into one single entity after all their waltz
@Samoutuomas I dont see whats wrong with it either xD
@b1indmailman
Jazz
is this a trick question?
Sounds like a Sonic Unleashed night level.
@PsychoJosh I guess what amuses me here is that your argument consists of arguments that you can effectively bring up against any other game in existence right now (particularly in the fighting genre), and they're all applicable to some extent. They're also not very valid.

@foottothenuts Oh he mad! BET YOU WON'T HIT EM'! :D
@jordan62073 Why would you want this deliciousness out?
@Grimmomega In that order?
I wonder if the gender-specific qualities in men and women come out through their music. SO INTRIGUING!
This song just screams castlevania
0:08 - 0:21 reminds me of spiderman for some reason.
BANZAI, YAMANE MICHIRU-DONO!! XD
Moonlit melee
WHERE IS THE CATHEDRAL
Kingdom Hearts meets Street Fighter 3 Third Strike meets Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Enough said.
@foottothenuts The point isn't to find a similar song to this one, because this is strictly the style of Michiru Yamane. @mregasi Lol comment removed?
Woo... someone OD'ed on Melty Blood before they made this game.
@nothingxs well duh
ITiS IN MY BRAIN OMG GTFO OUT MY HEAD
Sounds like a Bayonetta song
LA Noire: The Fighting Game
@Xilnold No. They owe her money for doing work.
@PsychoJosh By your logic, any game that came out after Melty Blood should die, considering that a lot of modern games pretty much lift a ton of ideas from it (notably TvC and MvC3). so did she owe them money or what?

How is this music not good for children? LOL
I guess that's a mistake putting that there..
And it makes sense, Skull GIRLS- The composer is a woman :).
LMAO!!!!! Dude its the same composer of all the Castlevania tunes, its not inspiration its just her! xD
Castlevania's lady of the musical arts, Michiru Yamane, you goddess you.
@PsychoJosh Either way, I suspect you will continue to pour more ridiculous vitriol and hate for the game mainly because you dislike the fetishy look of it. I miss when Skullgirls was cool and not censored by snowflake puritans who blackmail and lie about Alex Ahad and Mike Zaimont.
The game was "censored" a little, but it's still the best fighting game out there lol. What they did to things people paid for isn't forgiveable though. I'll play this game anyway
@ I’ll politely respect that unlike how FutureClub threw Alex Ahad under the bus and lied about Mike Zaimont.
darkstalkers much?
This game looks like garbage and I'm going to be really glad when it fails.
Lmao
