Don't understand all the hate. The robot tuners seem really convenient. Who really likes tuning so much that they would rather do it by hand? Rob Chapman even admitted they were very convenient and that while most guitarist hate them including himself even he doesn't understand why. The finish is beautiful. The shape has grown on me since I saw one for the first time. I kinda like it. I think the built in effects are very convenient also.

"Curiosity Killed the Cat" is most appropriate.
My Gosh, it's like a Digital Guitar Work Station!
I had no idea these instruments had so many accessories.
Great find Austin, good luck with trading up.
As far as all the modes, settings, programming and updating it's like you would need a 2-Year Degree just to understand all the options!
Heck, I've been playing for many decades and I'm still trying to figure out everything a standard Les Paul can do!
Maybe its best to Keep it Simple..................I'm just saying.

  • @joeykelly5642
    @joeykelly5642 5 лет назад +1

I actually really like the body shape, red finish, and flame maple fretboard! The second iteration of the robot tuners never bothered me either. I'd be willing to give the pickup analog emulation a try, too, since I've always found that analog sounds as good as traditional in most cases. The acoustic emulations didn't sound very convincing, but the rest of them were usable sounds. The built-in effects were pretty hit-or-miss, but I think a little tweaking with the sliders or program could fix that. The pedal rig it comes with would make it practical for a gig, I think. The headstock is what's preventing me from scoring a deal on one of these. God, it is hideous.

I think it’s ahead of its time because you’re right guitarist are naturalists and like simple stuff , well really most don’t want extra hassles or more things to go wrong but give it sometime I bet this style comes back strong. All it’d take is for a real popular artist to use it all the time and be making some good tunes... maybe even a different style of guitar would of helped it. Idk the firebird is kinda a oddball all by itself, not many musicians use that type of guitar... I like the firebird shape though.

Biggest problem I have is to find a specific tone when I seem to remember it was on there somewhere ... currently it mostly rests in its case waiting for a point in time when it will fetch as much as I once paid, but the 1200 is actually pretty close, so maybe I should try ^^

@@TomPetersonRefuseReuse Yeah, it would just be another (IMO) ugly guitar if it didn't have all the tech on it and it would be largely forgotten.
I think it still would have gotten shit over it's look though. People give Gibson shit for not trying enough "new" stuff but when Gibson does try something new it never works and there's a backlash, like with the Firebird X or the 2015 debacle. People want Gibsons to look like classic Gibsons.
Like I said it reminds me of a cheaper brand's imitation of a Firebird looks wise. I really like Firebirds but I wouldn't go near a Firebird X. If someone gave me one for free I would just sell it because I wouldn't be caught dead playing one.

Good luck and be safe while out on those waters Mike!!
I don't remember your blue one having that accessories bag Austin, did it? I honestly don't know why this guitar would have gotten so much hate but I bet most of the ones complaining about it had umpteen million pedals sitting in front of them while they play their guitar, I guess they don't like having those same options built right into the guitar? It sure is a nice looking guitar though!!

Mike is a good guy for helping you out, and I think that guitar suits him well - did he like it? (not trolling)

With the firebird x do you need a computer to controll it. I like this idea. Shame it did not work out resulting in bad publicity for Gibson

No, the computer is only for altering the preset tones. You don’t ever have to connect it if you don’t want to

Nice enough looking I suppose (apart from that god awful headstock, urrgh) but I'm a 'straight into an Orange' kinda guy so it would be a complete waste of money for me. It'd be like one of those gadgets you buy, thinking they're really cool at the time - till you get it home, play with all the settings once, before it sits there gathering dust & giving your wife yet another excuse for whining at you for wasting money lol. Have fun Mike, all the best.
