The shuttle driver to the Guesthouse from the airport basically lectured my sisters and I to be very careful in Memphis and do not walk anywhere once the sun goes down. We appreciated the information.

Memphis is a slum now I doubt even Elvis would still live in Graceland if he was alive. Doubt he would ever have sold it but he sure wouldn't be living there! Graceland needs to provide security, they make enough money to protect the tourist. Yes lock the doors but at some level Graceland needs to step up to the plate

    • @matildaharden1064

Just Here he would probably live there but Elvis would probably have more security and have tried to improve the surrounding areas. Whitehaven is dangerous

They have stepped up to the plate. It's called gated secured parking. If instead you park out front of Graceland for the photobomb, then expect lesser security for your vehicle.

Excellent advice. When I visited Memphis in 1987, on my way from the airport to the hotel where I was staying in the city of Memphis, I asked the taxi driver about how safe it was to walk around Memphis and he replied 'Stay away from bus depots and don't be letting nobody creep up on you.' Wasn't sure about how I could stop someone creeping up on me but I survived without incident by exercising common sense and not putting myself at risk.

Billy, so sorry to hear this. That is sad to be robbed right in front of Graceland! You would think with the tourist tax that we pay when we visit Graceland that Memphis could afford more police patrol. on the streets. Or Graceland could provide more security guards on the streets there. EPE charges enough money that visit Graceland so let them pay for the security. Memphis needs to fix this ongoing problem or folks will stop going. No wonder Elvis had so many guns! LOL! JK...it wasn't that bad when he was alive and lived there. Thanks for the PSA!

We told him we didn't have any change on us, He got really nasty. We said we would go into the cafe and get a coffee and change, We stayed in there. he waited outside for us... We saw a police car drive up and the guy disappeared. It kind of ruined my holiday for me, He had a bin liner over his head he looked like he had something hiding underneath it. Liberal Democrats like Congressman Cohn (whose district includes Memphis) represent the do nothing but talk that hasn’t improved quality of life life in Memphis since they have been in power.
Now the liberal Democrats if left unchecked will destroy Portland, Seattle, Chicago, NewYork and Washington DC.

We quickly learnt its not the same in Memphis. When we went into a local supermarkets and liquor store ' something strange happened .. We all have built in danger meters and mine was going haywire.. Obviously we entered shops in a no go area we had no idea about . For the rest of our visit we were more careful where we went to. On a positive note ' the rest of our stay was fantastic and we would love to re visit some of the places we failed to see the first time. Loved Gracelands ...

I just returned from Memphis. Memphis had some of the worst drivers and worst residential areas I have ever seen, and I am from the Chicago area. I barely avoided two collisions in two days. The parking lots were filthy at most places, and the friendly hospitable place I once remembered is just that - a memory. It seems if you wander beyond the security designated tourist areas you run the risk of Robbery and Battery. Beale Street is just chaos; what once was a relaxing atmosphere is now a place you must keep your head on a swivel. That is not very relaxing. Graceland, Sun Studios, Stax, and a few other points are all worth visiting. However, if Memphis stays on the path they are on they might as well kiss their tourism dollars goodbye.

Great advice brother! I was almost mugged right in front of Graceland and I was with 2 other people. A car full of punks pulled up, got out and threw their hoods up. My 2 friends grabbed me and threw me in the car cause they saw them coming. I was taking pics of Graceland about 9 at night. Be safe friends!!

Unfortunately there is scumbags like that all over the world. Thank God they didn't take something of more importance or damaged your jeep. Thanks for tightening up and giving us the heads up.

You were spot on with a comment you made in an earlier video, in life there are givers and takers. In Memphis there seems to be a lot takers!

Bad luck Billy. I guess you just have to remember it could have been a lot worse. Least you still have your silver ghost and at the end of the day you are safe.
Always nice to see a bit of highway outside Graceland too.

"Where is the bad part of Memphis?" Memphis. Very sketchy 'hood around Graceland and Memphis has a high crime rate. When you go to Graceland, you should park in the fenced parking lots. Yes it costs, but they have security that will not only drive through on patrol but they even helped me out with a jump!

I was there last week from TX. I enjoyed visiting almost all of your Memphis videos. Was shocking how bad Memphis is! Scotty Moore/Bill Black street Eldridge was especially bad. The Crown Electric empty lot appears to being developed now. Looking forward to seeing your up coming video inside the Mid South Coliseum. Stay safe and keep up the good work.

I have been robbed at gun point in Memphis 3 times. Two times in Midtown....once down town . Memphis could possibly be dumb ass. The spa guy is right about every thing he said.

Same way in Little Rock. Driving here is crazy, and do not leave anything out to be seen in your car. Always lock your car!

I agree, Billy, that they drive like maniacs in Memphis! I was there last in October, and I'd driven all the way from Niagara Falls, Canada, (and on to Tupelo later) and ELVIS PRESLEY BLVD was like ....YOU''RE TAKING YOUR LIFE AT RISK just driving there! I'm 75 and I've always been told that I"m a good driver, even by guys, so even after having driven MANY times to Graceland and beyond, I have to say that it's dangerous. I walked by myself two evenings down the Blvd from the Days Inn at Graceland, and I truly shouldn't have done it. I did NOT feel safe, but I had to go. There was a very scruffy individual, who was the only one around, and "attempted" a conversation with me, but I handled it okay even though I couldn't even make out most of what he was saying. He was obviously on something, so I just think that God was with me...I really shouldn't have been doing that, but when ELVIS CALLS...you go!

You have to see this.. after 10 years searching, I finally found Elvis’s abandoned home deep in the mountains of Sedona that he had built next to the set of “Stay Away Joe”. I have photos on my IG. @jonnybravotv

It's really bad everywhere. I live in south Florida, when I get out of my truck to get gas I take the keys with me. Since living down by Fort Myers these people drive in their own world, I've never seen so many rollovers in my life, I came from Illinois.

Sad to hear your car was invaded twice but glad you are safe. I had a great time in Memphis when I went but I was highly observant of my surroundings and didn’t stay out past dark downtown unless with my friend (buddy system). Before dropping my rental car off at the airport I had to go to three gas stations near there to find one that had gas to fill my tank, it was a little unsettling.

Sorry about you getting things and money stolen. It's terrible that we live in a world that thieves are everywhere. I remember watching your video when your Drone was stolen. That's terrible. My hubby has a Drone and they are expensive. My brother who is a great Christian guy and he drives a semi for USF Holland out of Holland, Michigan. They had a terminal in Memphis. It was so dangerous for years and now they closed it and moved it somewhere else. God bless.

Same thing happened to me. They knocked the lock cylinder out of my brand new truck and stole everything we had for a two week road trip. All of our clothes, laptops, bags, they took it all. Insurance said it was over 10k worth of stuff. Graceland staff saw it all and didnt do anything. I have a strong suspicion that they were in on it. Security knew exactly how it happened before we even told them and asked us not to call the police.
