I can't wait to find out why Helaena never, ever wants her mother to touch her. During the funeral procession, she looked terrified from her mother's hand on her leg, which was compounded by the crowd.
Aemond and Aegon are Targaryens in name only! They are essentially hightowers! Viserys raised his daughter. Otto and Alicent raised the boys and this is result. Aegon grieving and alicent walks away! As if she felt nothing !She wanted to clear her name so instead of showing helaena any consideration she was worried about what she might have seen. @@NikaeArts Neither in the book or the show are the Targaryens pure they just can dragonride and are an ancestor to a powerful king. If you are talking about actual bloodline, princess Rhaenera is 1/4 Arryn...
So is Rhaenyra shes 1/4 arryn on her mothers side. Daemon is pure Targaryen, the only one around now. His parents were both Targaryens, and his grandparents.
18:44 Eryk doesn't kill himself because he failed to protect Rhaenyra, but since he can't prove he's not Arryk and can no longer be trusted, his only option is to die to protect her (plus, he is deeply hurt by having to kill his twin brother)
Erryk killed himself out of remorse for murdering his brother, not because he was ashamed of failing to protect the queen. That makes zero sense because he DID protect her. And that picture you put at 19:00 of Daeron is the wrong Daeron. That Daeron was actually king, and he was the eldest child of Aegon III, the little boy we saw playing with the toy dragon. Alicent's Daeron will disappear in the war.
I thought ending this Alicole saga after Blood and Cheese would've made it more impactful personally to both the characters, Alicent carrying the guilt and remorse while Cole regretting his actions to not fulfilling his vows and duties of protecting the royalty. I thought the mark on Lysaria’s neck was from Daemon potentially choking her in the past. We saw him do it to Rhaenyra last season and you can see he almost did it to her again this episode. Rhaenyra seeing the mark influenced her decision to free her. But I def could be wrong.
He didn’t fall on his sword because he failed to protect Rhaeneyra- she actually wasn’t injured. So he didn’t fail. And you can see his face as he gazes on his own twin, dead by his hand, right before he turns to Rhaeneyra and says his final words. He fell on his sword because he could not live with having ended his other half’s life. Especially since his brother said right in his face, “We came into this world together! And you tore us apart!” was heart wrenching, and I think upon grasping what a sin before the gods he has committed, he feels he should exit this world with his brother, as punishment or perhaps atonement for having kin slain his own twin.
I think he felt he failed in protecting Rhaeneyea for the simple fact that his twin brother so easily entered her room and came close to being able to kill her.
@@David-ut1xj wellllll that’s possible, but honestly I feel like maybe Team Black should have foreseen this possibility and prevented it somehow upon gaining an identical twin as one of Rhaeneyra’s sworn swords, with his brother on the other side of the fight, since it’s a unique circumstance that poses an easy opportunity for impersonation and subterfuge. They should have had a code word that changed every couple of days, or maybe some personal item or token specifically given to him by the Queen, something small he would be able to keep on his person at all times and is unique enough to act as an unquestionable identifier. Hell, they could have made him change the length of his beard or hair. They could have done anything. ESPECIALLY after blood and cheese. Then they really really should have foreseen possible retaliation for the death of Jahaerys.
@@laurelsilberman5705 Yes you're right, they could have and should have done something to distinguish one from the other. Besides I think it's weird for adult twins to dress alike and do everything possible so that not one person can tell who is who.
If aegon would've listened to otto and not immediately killed blood, he wouldn't have had to execute all of the rat catchers. Round all of them up and start chopping parts off of blood until he tells them which one he was working with, literally like 2 hours before. I mean he choked him out while looking directly into his eyes from a foot and a half away. I think getting a foot sawn off without anesthetic would jog his memory really quickly. Or do the same thing but with helaena. Given aegons current rage, I think he would rather chop parts off the guy that just killed his son, over probably further traumatizing his already half insane sister-wife though.
I fully expected Rhaenyra to order Erryk's death because she couldn't know with certainty that he wasn't Arryk. Also, poor Aegon. Imagine your own mother not comforting you after losing your child. No wonder he has issues
Aegon will remember his mom not comforting him at this time. God she's going to have a brutal death I gotta HUGE feeling about that. Along with some kinda toucher to his mom. I dk WTF he'll do with his rite hand man maybe castration.?
11:33 So my interpretation was that the servants had been ordered to remove Ser Cristin “Cuckold’s” bed in retaliation to his excuse of having been “abed” during Jaehaerys’ murder. This would explain his subtly awkward reaction to the removal, along with explaining why he’d all the sudden been such a dick to Ser Shittier Twin.
It was definitely Arryk who killed himself at the end. You could easily tell by how Arryk guts Erryk’s wounds on his knees and then proceeds to kill him. Also, MAGNIFICENT acting by Ser Otto this episode. That was brilliant 👏
@@edloyn752 How, exactly? He was surrounded by dozens of guards protecting Rhaenyra, the best he could do was give himself an honorable death after killing his own brother.
@@geenalawrence8338to borrow a much used line “were the dozens of guards in the room with him” I saw one other guard, if it was the brother you think, he could have finished his task.
18:39 I'm confused. I thought Arryk killed himself because he had killed his brother Erryk. The 1 with the leg wound is Erryk and also got a head wound and he is killed by the other one thus Arryk killed himself. He kind of had to because he attempted to kill the queen and killed his own brother, he would've been hanged anyway.
Not for Aegon though who also lost his son? Why are you mad at Daemon? He is about to go do something that is vital to the war all the while the other blacks sit on their arses. Also theres a leak that suggest Jace agrees with what Daemon did. Are you a misandrist my guy? Are only females allowed sympathy for murdered children?
Sad ending for the twins i couldn't imagine having to kill my brother 💔 😢 Great scene it was intense...Agon is spiraling downward Cole as "hand" (as his hands are all over his Mother) will be regrettable! I'm hooked its building.....GOT has got me!😂 Excellent update and review
And the worst part is even if you could take him down without killing him, he's gonna be hung or burned alive for treason anyway. So it's like knowing your brother is dead the moment you see him in that room unless he manages to kill you.
hated how that cut scene was so fast when eryk died, immediately cuts to accent & otto - also there should’ve been a way better distinction between who is who in that fight…
I think the whole point was that they were twins and in the mayhem of the unexpected fight no one could tell them apart. I immediately watched for the twin who’s leg was stabbed to keep track of who to root for though, was so sad to watch.
No there shouldn’t be distinctions between the two. Based from the several narrator from the books they were fighting for one hour and no one intervened due to them not knowing who is who. I think the way it was done on television was great especially when Arryk (green) killed his brother Erryk (black), even the black queen had mistaken the green brother for the black. That is before the green brother killed himself out of grief and asked for forgiveness.
Honestly the head of the child shaking during the parade reminding us of the brutality that happened was both extremely gruesome and strangely subtle. It gave me goosebumps and I was sure it was gonna fall off which made so unconfortable
18:30 i am not so sure of that , they both cut each others leg at one point . But one of them got punched and kicked in the face , pretty sire that was Erik , and by my math he dies first . Meaning that the other one loyal to the king killed himself out of honor .
You have catapulted up the ladder as one of my top content creators. Your coverage is intelligent, comprehensive and insightful. All without indulging in pointless exposition that is only there to gain clicks/views/outrage! Thank you friend. You will be rewarded by the marketplace! One point of note about the show, it has a very “theatrical” feel, almost like a play. Maybe it’s the dialog, acting style and/or the scenery… but it actually works really well for this production.
I haven't read the source material, but here are my theories: -Alyn & Addam are the illegitimate sons of Lord Corlys -Larys expected he would be the next Hand. When he finds out about Alicent & Criston, will he blackmail her into marrying him? Especially if there's the possibility of a child.
I can’t tell the dragons apart either but I thought of Seasmoke too especially seeing the boats docking. Laenor could’ve been on one of them hiding. I’ve seen others say that it is Moondancer. I want to see Laenor come back. I was wondering if Seasmoke would accept another rider if Laenor is still alive.
I haven't read the books but Daemon by far is my favorite character. He has no real allegiances but yet you see the care he has for his family albeit he shows it weird ways and his decisions aren't always the most pragmatic. Here was my take on Aegon's son getting killed. 1) Rhaenyra gave no clear instructions or sought council on how she wanted Aemond and giving Daemon's propensity to go to war, she shouldn't have been surprised he'd take action. 2) Although we don't see him actually say it, Daemon told blood & cheese them "no head, no gold", with blood saying as much when they got to the room where Aemond and Criston Cole were. I believe Daemon when he said he didn't order it but blood and cheese needed a head so they didn't care it wasn't Aemond.
Book Rhaenerya: Basically Cersei Lannister Show Rhaenerya: season 3 Dany I hate that the showrunners are absolving Rhaenerya of any culpability for what her faction does, for example the naval blockade of Kings Landing which caused a famine was her decision in the books not Corlys or anyone else. I just hope they don't continue this trend because she's called 'Maegor with t***" for a reason.
man i gotta read the books. did rhaenerya and daemon have that fight in the books as well? cuz daemon did say a son for a son, so was it really a mistake?
@@HO-vt5pk Daemon was already in Harrenhal, he just sent a Raven to Rhaenerya promising her vengeance and "a son for a son". Book Rhaenerya would have still been upset at what daemon did so the argument they had in the episode would have been something that could have happened if they weren't hundreds of miles away from each other.
I think the whole point of the books is that it’s a historiography and revisionist history based on who won the dance of the dragons. Mushroom in particular obviously exaggerated a lot, claiming there was there for all the biggest drama (saying rhaenyra was fat and ugly). The show doesn’t engage with the unreliable narrator, so if has more room to explore the nuance of the “truth”
The whole point of the show is to fill in the gaps between the 3rd party accounts of book which. GRRM himself said the written accounts of Dance of the Dragons are ambiguous and can not be trusted. It's basically a story written by people after Agon allegedly won the rebellion and the history made rhaenyra the Villain. Which in reality wasn't the case.
Criston Cole is the absolute worst. Like they really managed to make a character I absolutely despise worse than Joffrey. I hate watching every scene he's in. He couldn't be with Rhaenyra his way and then decided to make hating on her his entire personality for over a decade- while doing the same damn thing that made him turn down Rhaenyra's "offer" in the first place, like bro... And just the utter lack of being able to take any accountability for his own failings as a KG- Pushing the responsibility off on a guy that was actually doing is job of watching over the King that night. Insane.
Oh yeah, and watch it eat away at him. You can already tell it's affecting him in a bad way. He'll go mad eventually, when his conscience catches up with him.
Helaena is clearly in shock and refuses to talk about what she saw. That's gotta be why Aegon didn't know where Criston was. I don't think Aegon would've made him hand.
10:35 Daemon probably went to Harrenhal like he said he would, to make it up to Rhaenyra after this "mistake"' Also, after ordering the killers to kill Aemond, he may not have said anything else, implying by his silence that they had no right to fail at this mission.
I really hate Alicent. What a hypocrite. Also she sees her children only as tools for her’s and her father’s political ambition, even Cersei was capable of loving her children genuinely.
The queen wasn't guarded because her room is too close to the queen dowager's room -- a guard at the door would make the regular boinking of the queen rather more difficult.
19:24 remember that in season 1 Alicent once told Aegon "you're no son of mine" and in another episode, when Aegon asked her "do you love me?" she answered "you imbecile" dodging the question
Criston Cole as Hand? What could go wrong? 😂

in the book, he was shown as a very mature and ambitious person with formidable tactical and manipulative skills, making him one of the greatest threats to be reckoned with, and the showrunners degraded him as a pansy 😢
@aviencloud4239 the king maker
I think that's the idea!
Nah mate. At least Ramsey made you feel something whenever he was on screen. Kole looks like a meat puppet. Zero screen presence
Ramsay was a sadistic monster while Cole is just a bitter ex seeking vengeance
"Boinking his mom"
"Hand's hand in his mom"
I think you got a bit quirky while editing 😂😂😭💀
They should've lined up the Ratcatchers and had the Dog pick him out. And saved 99 lives.
Im the only thought halena forshadow seeing the burning of king landing at the funeral for jachaerys.
Haha yup I thought those hops reminded me of ash...
@@picvegitaahhhh i was tryna make sense of the slow mo in that scene but it makes sense cause the burning of kings landing art was on the walls in a scene before the funeral
Giving the fact that she's a dreamer the burning of kingslanding is something she might have seen.
Ngl was expecting Jaecyrs' head to roll off when the cart got stuck
Same here 🙈🙈😬
I can't wait to find out why Helaena never, ever wants her mother to touch her. During the funeral procession, she looked terrified from her mother's hand on her leg, which was compounded by the crowd.
Criston Cole being the hand of the king is like promoting an incompetent idiot who caused your business to fail miserably.
Crazy how you put this out within a couple HOURS of it dropping. Well done and keep it up! I just subbed and looking forward to the next one!
Showing a prince's head attached to a body with a needle was the scariest.
Otto played chess moving pieces on a board, but didn’t bother to invest time, and attention to ensure they had some integrity and skill to do the job he pushed for.
*Whoretower
Aemond and Aegon are literally Targaryens by blood...
@@MelancholicAwesomnes that's not what that means... they mean that they're an insult to the Targaryen bloodline cause of Hightower meddling.
Criston Cole is all about clapping cheeks😂😂
He’s crispin those butts
He’s crispin those cheeks
Lmao, I’ve never finally like Otto more than when he put that little dingleberry in his place

18:44 Eryk doesn't kill himself because he failed to protect Rhaenyra, but since he can't prove he's not Arryk and can no longer be trusted, his only option is to die to protect her (plus, he is deeply hurt by having to kill his twin brother)
Argument between rhaenera and demon was so much engaging
*The end of twins this early 😢 didn't expect that...i always thought they'll be remain till the end of the show !!!*
I DO NOT WISH TO HEAR OF IT. Hands down the best line delivery of the series.
The dog was eventually taken in by the Lannisters and spayed. Because a Lannister always spays his pets.

I love your review ,very clear not so fast in talking, very well explained
I thought ending this Alicole saga after Blood and Cheese would've made it more impactful personally to both the characters, Alicent carrying the guilt and remorse while Cole regretting his actions to not fulfilling his vows and duties of protecting the royalty. Instead they made mess out of their characters. Now Cole commanding Ser Arryk in reaction to his inefficiency.
Yeah, Ser Cole pretty much killed both brothers cause he couldn't live with his own actions. He's an awful person.
@@MissKashira Worst for Cole is yet to come. Cole's trajectory as a character goes downhill gradually in the books. But here, he's established as a weak character so what they'll do to him.

Will be in episode 3
no it’s another episode
Will be when meleys is shown
I was thinking the same thing. The procession scene ended kinda abruptly
They were really laying a lot of seeds this episode
If Otto only listened to his daughters sin, he could have gotten the hand of the King back. It would have been so easy for Otto to make Criston look like a selfish man who took advantage of the King's mother! Aegon would be so mad at Criston.
I thought the mark on Lysaria’s neck was from Daemon potentially choking her in the past. We saw him do it to Rhaenyra last season and you can see he almost did it to her again this episode. Rhaenyra seeing the mark influenced her decision to free her. But I def could be wrong.
A choke wouldn't leave a mark like that, if I remember correctly Mysaria used to be a bed slave, its likely a scar from a collar.
Great episode , the acting in particular was fantastic .
Your passion for this show is cute @@laurelsilberman5705
@@laurelsilberman5705 Yes you're right, they could have and should have done something to distinguish one from the other. Besides I think it's weird for adult twins to dress alike and do everything possible so that not one person can tell who is who.
@@David-ut1xj 😂
There was some fine acting in this episode. Liked the writing and direction also. They really gave scenes all the time they needed.
Queen Haelena had such beautiful children. Poor little Jaehaerys. Poor Haelena.
That was brilliant 👏
exactly
If it was Arryk, he would proceed his task to kill Rhaenyra as his duty
@@edloyn752 How, exactly? He was surrounded by dozens of guards protecting Rhaenyra, the best he could do was give himself an honorable death after killing his own brother.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
@@geenalawrence8338to borrow a much used line “were the dozens of guards in the room with him” I saw one other guard, if it was the brother you think, he could have finished his task.
18:39 I'm confused. I thought Arryk killed himself because he had killed his brother Erryk. The 1 with the leg wound is Erryk and also got a head wound and he is killed by the other one thus Arryk killed himself. He kind of had to because he attempted to kill the queen and killed his own brother, he would've been hanged anyway.
Ser Cole is good with his hands.
now he’s the hand of the king
My heart aches for Rhaenyra and Helaena
My heart burns for Daemon and cole
I was hoping Lady Myseria would become the hand of the queen or something like that.
By saving Rhaenyra I think she'll be admitted as like Lord Varys to the Queen.
No that will be corlys after a certain event.
hated how that cut scene was so fast when eryk died, immediately cuts to accent & otto - also there should’ve been a way better distinction between who is who in that fight…
I would have liked to know who was who during the fight too, but not knowing kind of added to the tension.
I think the whole point was that they were twins and in the mayhem of the unexpected fight no one could tell them apart. I immediately watched for the twin who’s leg was stabbed to keep track of who to root for though, was so sad to watch.
@pixiewings21_9 same. Once I realized I couldn't tell It got even more exciting
@@raindrops21_9One cloak is dirty, one is clean. Your welcome. 👍
Meaning that the other one loyal to the king killed himself out of honor .
just found your channel, love it, love your voice, keep it up. I'm sure everyone agrees with me
In this season they made jace's hair black and curly like harwin strong.

i vote for a deep dive into helaena’s character
I wonder what Aegon thinks when he finds out, his hand's hands have been in his mom.

Otto to Alicent about Ser Criston "His faith is in steel and BONE" 😂
Otto does know what sin Alicent was referring to. He raises a brow when she and Criston enter the small council
7:39 - the man shouting in the street is Scroobius Pip - a UK rapper.
"His Hand's hand..."
Well played, Sir. 😂
I haven't read the source material, but here are my theories: -Alyn & Addam are the illegitimate sons of Lord Corlys -Larys expected he would be the next Hand. When he finds out about Alicent & Criston, will he blackmail her into marrying him? Especially if there's the possibility of a child.
Poor young Helena
😢 she did not deserve that my God that was brutal.😢
I can’t tell the dragons apart either but I thought of Seasmoke too especially seeing the boats docking. Laenor could’ve been on one of them hiding.
I’ve seen others say that it is Moondancer. I want to see Laenor come back. I was wondering if Seasmoke would accept another rider if Laenor is still alive.
Heavy on the fate of the dog. Hope no one hurts him 😢❤
Fun little fact about the dog actor. He also played in Cruella with Emma Stone.😊
Such a great episode! RIP Cargyll Brothers
Rhys Ifans deserves an EMMY!
Oh yeah, he's GOOOOD
Good man.. good job💚
Alicent got the hand from the hand
Rhys Ifans needs some awards for his portrayal as Otto Hightower, incredible actor.
Book Rhaenerya: Basically Cersei Lannister
Show Rhaenerya: season 3 Dany
I hate that the showrunners are absolving Rhaenerya of any culpability for what her faction does, for example the naval blockade of Kings Landing which caused a famine was her decision in the books not Corlys or anyone else.
Honestly , I prefer chubby dumb Cersei Rhaenyra over this hot chick Dany Rhaenyra
Gotta hand it to the hand, he is a handy hand handing it to the twins and having his hands in the queen.
10:35 Daemon probably went to Harrenhal like he said he would, to make it up to Rhaenyra after this "mistake"'
Also, after ordering the killers to kill Aemond, he may not have said anything else, implying by his silence that they had no right to fail at this mission.
Haelena found herself in the wrongest family! I feel sorry for her.
I really hate Alicent. What a hypocrite. Also she sees her children only as tools for her’s and her father’s political ambition, even Cersei was capable of loving her children genuinely.
There's a reason why its a game to them. It's just a chess game irl and on steroids.
Great Acting too Haelena🎉
is it seasmoke or moondancer?
Otto crashed out in this episode 😂😂😂
The queen wasn't guarded because her room is too close to the queen dowager's room -- a guard at the door would make the regular boinking of the queen rather more difficult.
At 4:57 you said Team Black instead of Green Team, regardless, love this episode 👊🏽
19:24 remember that in season 1 Alicent once told Aegon "you're no son of mine"
and in another episode, when Aegon asked her "do you love me?" she answered "you imbecile" dodging the question
Great Acting by Otto and Rhaenyra🎉
The new hand in town, placeth his fingers in Alicents Clam
Crispin Is So annoying, I hate his character tbh 😂
