      I just told this to a friend yesterday who was trying to finish a project with very little time: Keep the goal in mind and don't obsess over details. What is the purpose of what you're doing and then focus on that. It doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be achieved. You made a huge difference!

    Hey mate, not sure if you’ll see this. Greetings from Melbourne, Australia!
    Long story short, I had major knee surgery a month back and have to learn to walk again, and the first week of recovery I discovered your channel. Watching a bloke (and on occasion his old man!) just getting out there and doing just the best they can to serve their community and helping those that can’t help themselves every day, regardless of how large or tough the job is, made me push through and realise that I can get up out of bed everyday and teach myself to walk again.
    Keep doing you mate, make sure you look after yourself and your mental health, but just know you’re helping people in ways you’ll never know!
    Much love to you and your family, you’re an incredible man, the world is a far better place because of yourself and the things you do.

      I can't believe a school could get in a state like this. Who is responsible for maintenance I ask you? Over here the city will take care of greenery around a school and the school-district will upkeep the building. This school has seen years of neglect and shouldn't be depending on handouts to give pupils a normal clean looking school. You did well mate, can't work miracles in a day but by god you got close.

    • @lilacscentedfushias1852
      @lilacscentedfushias1852 Год назад +16

      Blitzy it depends, it used to be jobs like this were done by the caretaker attached to the school, then cut backs & cut backs mean caretakers might have 4+ schools each. Or it would be the local council, but this school might be a privately owned school now. I know one head we had would have said bring some working clothes and a spade were going to do it 😂but there aren’t many heads like her. Or her husband would have done it, he was caretaker for several other schools.

      Agreed. It made me wonder if the caretaker wasn’t physically well enough to take care of the grounds any more to let it get like that. Unless the school budget is so cash strapped they are spending it more on educational materials and provision etc. Does make you wonder how it has been allowed to get so bad.

    I want you to remember when you do this sort of thing how much a difference just getting rid of the moss would make. Imagine the kids rocking up on a cold and wet morning in November and slipping around on it, just getting rid of the moss alone is making such a difference here. When you go on to pressure wash it even at lower pressure you're creating a safe environment for these kids to thrive. You may not be getting that shock factor before and after on some jobs but you're absolutely smashing it and making the world a better place, 107,000 others who are subbed to you also agree with this.

When you truly give it your all and do your best, you have nothing to be ashamed of. I would just also like to remind you that you don't have to do it all in one day if the job turns out to be sooo much larger than you imagined. Stop and reassess your plan and split it into two days. Maybe leaves and debris, trimming and part of the edging or miss removal on one day. And the rest of the prep and the washing/hose down/tidy up of the tarmac another day. You could make it into two videos and bless the school (and us) twice! On top of everything else, the extra time would give you a bit of perspective. When you're worn to a frazzle, it's hard to see the progress you've made and the difference you're making to the lives of others.
    Bless you and your father for being the people you are. BTW, looking very handsome in the outro and loved the coaster!

I don't mean Ben's cleaning but to pick up the leaves (and broken glass!) and do a bit of edging and scraping of the moss. That requires no special skill or equipment. That really was the worst of it. A few parents on a Saturday morning once or twice a year would do wonders.

I wish everyone in the world was a fanatical perfectionist at least in their hearts. It took until I was much older than you to realize what your Dad said to you, "Do your best". Sometimes there is just to much world to take care of but if you just take care of what's in front of you that's all you can do really. You have a big heart and I love what you do. You make a lot of people happy. The people you do it for, in this case a lot of children and probably a lot of adults, the people in your country and around the world to people like me in California, USA. I hope you feel very blessed for doing it. I know I sometimes feel like I'm getting more of the blessing when I help someone than the one I'm helping. God bless you exceedingly.
