for anyone saying this isnt slow, or not beginner friendly, she never said it was. Just pause it, play it back, take your time, frog it, Its a super cute bag, its a fun project, Crochet is meant to be fun. I find this an awesome video, well explained, and i love how close it is to your hands. I have trouble seeing, and it being so close was VERY helpful. Thankyou. It made making this very easy and fun.
Hi young crocheter here (12-15 age range)! Im a few months along in learning how to crochet and this video was not that bad too follow. All you gotta do is take your time and rewind. Thanks for the new bag!
I really appreciate you made this tutorial. I have seen these bags all over the internet and think they're so cute. I recently took the plunge and decided to put in the work to learn crochet, many hours later I was able to make the bag of my dreams thanks to you!! It feels so much more rewarding and awesome knowing I made it with my own hands rather than just buying it.
My star bag took about two and a half hours, missed a stitch or two definitely keep an eye on those tricky spots, but it turned out good!I get tons of compliment's on it! Want one in every color now :)
As a beginner I have been trying to find a tutorial that actually works for me and this is the first one! Thanks for the video (don’t mind the timestamps I’m gonna be adding to this comment)
i’ve never made a bag with a shape involved i’m very new to crocheting and tried many tutorials with a star bag and this is the easiest one so far i love my bag thank you
I actually swapped over from someone else's tutorial and was able to pick up pretty fast since you had talking in yours so thank you for that. Yours simply worked better for me, thank you so much.
This was a super fun pattern! Thank you for making it freely available! I used a striped brown yarn for my main color, and I also coincidentally used leaf green for my accent! I think an ombre/color changing yarn is so fun for this project. I used about 85g of yarn for the main color, so an entire small skein. A lot less than I initially anticipated!
Hi! I was confused on the straps too until I did a little digging in the comments. For the short strap, it’s a chain of 108 then 6 rows of single crochets along the chain (648 sc in total). After each completed row, I turned and then chained one (does not count as a stitch). Add 2 lines of a stitch called “crochet top stitch”. I placed my 2 lines spaced apart by 2 rows. I had to look up a tutorial for the top stitch on TikTok but it’s fairly easy after starting it. It’s pretty much a slip stitch over and over again. For the long strap, it measures 56 inches of chain stitches. Again, you’ll want to now add 6 rows of single crochets lengthwise. Once that’s done, you’ll add the same 2 lines of the top stitch. I really hope this helps some of you who were wondering exactly what she did during the cut.
I'm on day 2 of working on this bag (I'm a very, very slow beginner) and I love how easy this is! It may not be fully beginner friendly, but it sure does make up for it in cuteness!
I kept missing the stitch that you told us not to miss! I restarted 3 times before I finally realized that I kept missing it, but if was very rewarding when I finally got it right❤
Thank you so much for the tutorial!! I made this bag as a chirstmas gift for a friend and she loved it! The the star pattern was quite easy once i got it down, now I can't wait to make one for myself!
I'm a beginner and I'm very thankful for skipping the magic circle. It's the most difficult for me, but this tutorial was so useful I think it's going to be my first completed project thank you.
Thank you so much for this video. I liked how you verbalized what you were doing. That made it easier for me to do the project along with your video. Awesome Awesome thank you so much!
At first, knitting a star bag was a big problem for me because I had problems understanding the instructions. But when I watched this video, the bag became very easy. Your instructions were very clear and understandable.Thank you so much ❤️
This pattern and your tutorial are so good!! I've made a couple of these now in different sizes. This makes for a great way to use up leftover yarn too! Thanks for posting this!
Robin, this is such a beautiful tutorial! I started crocheting in the beginning of the year and this is by far my favorite project I've completed. I am so excited! Thank you!
Thank you so much this was such a good tutorial and it was super easy to follow! I have a friend's birthday party soon so I ended up making this bag in an afternoon for their gift and its perfect!
I love it! I always see the video first so I can understand clearly and then start doing it. I am started crochet as a therapy self care hobby and I’m started to love it!! At the moment I’m doing a scarf but I wanna put a star in my scarf but I’m trying to find information which I couldn’t, sadly..but this video came up which made me so interested!❤
That is really cute! I like how you stitched the strap and side strap together. I'm learning a lot! Question - what brand of crochet hook are you using? I am thinking of trying something different for when I do stuffies this fall. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡
For this project I used my Bella Coco Athena hooks, but I don't recommend them for the stuffies. You best option that I know of for hooks on the stuffies is the Clover Amour Hooks, the head of the hook is shaped more narrow and slides into the stitch much easier.
@@KnottingHookCrochet Thanks! I'm not sure what hooks I have - they might be Clover or they might be a knock off. Summer is soon starting at the motel in this tourist area so I am not planning on more projects until September but thought I would get the supplies. 😊
I didn't liked it's too much because I'm a beginner and it only showed how to do half of it and then you cut to the ending of it so I didn't know what to do. Sorry I didn't make it to much😢
I just reached 90% finish on my bag ✨️ the strap is the only thing I need to attach. This is easiest tutorial that I have watched and I'm so excited to test out the other patterns in this channel 🩵🩵🩵 I made mine with colorful yarn and white yarn and the alternating color made it so fun 🎉
for anyone having trouble with the skip last and first stitch thing, just remember you have to skip the 2 middle stitches in each side of your star for example, in a row with a 10 dc side (not counting the dc corners) you do 4 dc from the corner to the middle, skipping 2 stitches then counting 4dc again till the other corner and remember you always add 2 more dc in each side around the 2 skipped stitches on the middle as you make more rows i had a hard time figuring it out so i hope it helps other people
Very cute crochet project! I’m no beginner but I do wish it was a little bit easier to follow. It was hard to follow along and see what you were doing when there was no written instruction on screen or no verbal instruction at times. Other than that, I could follow along pretty well.
thank you for this, every project i came across involved making the magic circle i think it’s called and i just couldn’t do it. i love the way you explain things. my only mistake was not realising that the rows doubled by two each time lol
Beginner crocheter and really my first non clothes project, first panel I did was messed up just slightly, second was perfect, just slowed the video down to .5 and it was perfect 🫶🏽
im confused on the strap version. I love the way you made the strap but im confused on how you were able to add that lighter green? Did you make three double crochet rows with that darker green and slip stitched them together with that lighter green?
reeeeeeeally wish you would've included the strap part... kind of frustrating to get a tutorial for every part but that because i don't know how to make one with the top stitch like you suggested. i liked the rest of the tutorial though.
This is definitely gonna be my next project!! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love how you're kind of quick with it, so I don't need to wait 10 seconds between steps, but you also explain the more tricky parts, like which chain to end the round on. 🫶🏽
Do you have any recommendations on how to add a liner in a bag of this shape?? I’m almost finished with the bag and the liner is such a great idea!! Just not sure where to start.
hi i have a question! at 11:12 or so you say we repeat the previous steps until desired; does this include the second slip stitch over at 9:28? this tutorial is super helpful so far, thank you!!!
i wish you went mor in dept with the strape, what cord stitch did you use ? and are the smaller stitched stipes for itto be stable and not stretch too much ?
Wait I reread. I understand what you're saying. So chain to length, single crochet down chain. Slip stitch back up. And repeat 2 more times to get your rows of 6. Great, thanks you again
making this bag again but i had a small question, when attaching the short strap to the sides of the star, how many single crochets do we do in the chain 2 corners of the star?
i'm very confused about the strap portion.. i know you did single crochets with a slip stitch, but did you single crochet the entire strap and then afterwards put in the slip stitches? i've tried doing a row of sc then the next a slip stitch but it doesn't seem to look like yours unless it's the yarn im using. sorry for the long comment T^T just a tad confused...
Im good in everything else but for the strap i will need another video on how to made those 😭 and another question when sewing the stars and the bags is the yarn still connected while sewing?? 👀
@nabila6401 yes, thank you but since this was my first time I wanted to do it exactly as the video but it seems I'll have to improvise 😅😅 How did you do the straps? Did you do them as the video as long in horizontal or did you just follow another video for doing the strap? It's because I wanted to try to do it like that 👀
Hi!! I just started this bag done with the front and back but strap remaining, I'm really confused and stuck, I'm making this for my uni. Can u pls guide me a little?? Also love ur vibe, ur the coolest
You're going to make one strap and the two stars will be attached to the sides of the strap. I just made it long enough that the bag fell where I was comfortable. Did it in rows of single crochet then added a surface stitch slip stich to help with strap stretching. Plus it gives a decorative stripe.

Sorry, no
What stitch did you use for the strap?
Single crochet then a slip stitch top stitch to help reduce the stretch also because its pretty.
When attaching the straps do I just single crochet into the space once when I get to the corners?
The outside corners do 2.
how do i get the slip stitch to look like that on the straps?
Surface crochet you stitch through the top and have you working yarn under the strap
