I'd read all the overwhelmingly positive reviews of Earth Vs Wildhearts in all the rock magazines as a then 13 year old and I knew that I would have to buy the album once I'd saved up enough pocket money. However, just before I was able to I saw this performance on TOTP and I knew that I was going to absolutely love this band and I still do nearly 30 years later!
My favourite Wildhearts TOTP story is when they were filming "I Wanna Go..." & Chris Evans was presenting the show & had the song as his 'Tune Of The Week". He got in some grief for playing the other version at 8am... Anyway apparently Danny Wildheart accosted Chris Evans & said "I love your show but I forgot me fuckin' toothbrush!" Evans allegedly sent his PA to the Boots round the corner for a toothbrush & a tube of Colgate for Danny...😂
I used to work with Dave Nichols{Big Shirt} R.I.P and he turned me on to the wildhearts,, I said " hey Shirt, told him i really liked them and he said great; cuz youve got no choice"
How brilliant is this? And the fact that it made the charts! And the TOTP audience going nuts, too. Wildhearts and the Manics saved hard rock for me, back in 1993/94, after interminable years of miserabilist grunge. Mick Wall's "Getcha Rocks Off" podcast (Bands that Almost Made It episode) has a nice little anecdote of when Ginger met Liam Gallagher backstage at TOTP in 1995 or thereabouts.
I used to share a flat with this bloke back in the 80s, when he was in a group called the Ipanema Katz. He still owes me £5.12 for the electricity bill. Whenever yer ready, Ginge...
Aren’t us oldies lucky too have lived this first hand, remember it like it was yesterday. This band and many of that era got me through my youth.
You can enjoy them in your 50s or 60s cos this 5h1t is timeless 😊
It always puts a big smile on my face when I hear them sing “Baby Can’t You See, I’m Shitting Brown Water” on prime time BBC
Yh they definitely missed that 😂😂😂
And how they out away with singing “oh baby can’t you see I’m shitting brown water” live is magical 👍🤘🤣
I remember this vividly because it was a rare occasion when something good was on Top of the Pops.
The underrated gods of rock. Love em

one of..if not the greatest performance totp has ever seen (including amazing crowd and seemingly fantastic live singing and playing)
I miss TOTP for these kind of golden nuggets!

Ginger gets away with swearing on top of the pops! Excellent
Yeah, pretty sure nobody before or since has sung 'I'm shitting brown water...', on TOTP. 😁

That's why when they performed Sick of Drugs on TOTP is was half the song
Did he also ad lib 'my brain is fucked...' earlier in the track?
Utterly Glorious! This could cure COVID-19!
Absolutely fantastic
AMAZING 🔥🔥
I was helping to take disabled people to the TOTP studio around this time. Unfortunately this was one of the weeks I missed. Well gutted.
I love them so much that I named my RUclips handle after them 😁
''Baby can't you see, I'm sipping down water...'' 👀
My ships on water is what they claimed they were singing 😂😉

"The TOTP audience" that were going nuts were told to, they were trendies put in Wildhearts jumpers.
@@Hellwyck not too sure about that they seemed pretty genuine to me,maybe they sneaked in somehow or pretended to like Jason and Kylie...
Playing live on TOTP. A very rare occurrence
Only the vocals are live 👍

I can relate.Dad saying what the hell is that?
I knew Danny the bassist in a former life, I was best mates with his brother, right up until he stabbed me in the back.
