Fantastic interview. I've followed The Wildhearts and CJ for many years! Loved Honeycrack too (was a member of the Fanclub as a young teen.) and Willie has just mixed/produced one of my band's songs!

CJ doesn't do enough of this sort of thing. Always cool to hear him chat about music etc.

Great stuff from CJ. Earth Vs blew every other band of the day, into the weeds, mine included, but 2008's White album runs it very close. Shared some great times with this man over the years, and he's always had a huge integrity, which is ironically where he was always out numbered in The Wildhearts.

Been a massive Wildhearts fan since the early 90's, seen them countless times, own all the music.
But the best Wildhearts related night was Silverginger 5 (Ginger, Jon Poole et al), supported by The Jellys (CJ, Stidi et al) at Bristol Fleece....
The Jellys were a SERIOUSLY good band. And CJ was an absolute gent that night, out in the crowd after the gig to meet fans and sign cds and merch. Great memories, for which i thank you!

What a cool guy. The wildhearts should’ve been huge. I bought earth vs. on cd in ‘94 while visiting London and to this day it’s still a top favorite classic

I have those demos on cassette somewhere but also on cd. A guy named Snake from a band called Tobruk sang on them. Those demos had a definite Cheap Trick vibe going on but obviously the band would get progressively heavier. It was good times living in London around 89 and everyone in bands there pretty much knew each other as we always played the same venues or supported each other so it was a killer vibe.

I love demos but I really don’t have that many now. My uncle was the manager of UFO so he used to send me some great stuff back in the day - mainly heavy rock based stuff!
This is a great idea you have latched onto here Ryan and it’s great to hear CJ and I loved Honeycrack too!!

I found out about the Wildhearts bc I was a few friends away from Scott. He played in a band in Philly, his drummer Lenny dated my ex. Never met Scott. The Wildhearts changed my musical life. Been listening to CJs solo stuff as of late. Very good stuff. He seems so down to earth. How do more people not know about this stuff in the US???

I loved that mid-90's era of Wildhearts/Therapy?/Honeycrack and many others, especially where the singles they released would have multiple b-sides and you essentially got a whole separate album out of those songs alone.

Well, you've managed to top every episode you've done before there, mate !!
Always great to hear CJ talking frankly about life, especially 3 days before we get to hear his new album !
Be interesting if you can get Willie Dowling to talk about his side of Honeycrack too, and all his other bands.

So "Kick Down The Walls" is about the Wildhearts. Ginger's real name is David Walls. I'm sure this is a complete coincidence.

  • @jonmcc7768

Asked about Honeycrack....rants about not being credited on PHUQ etc... bit bitter?

    • @BABYCHAOS26
      @BABYCHAOS26 Месяц назад

Don’t think CJ is capable of having a rant, he’s way too cool for that. He was merely addressing some misinformation with regards to his input on the P.H.U.Q. and Fishing for Luckies albums.
