When I sew on any polyester type fabric, knit or woven, I spritz with a water vinegar solution. 1 cup water, 1/2 cup vinegar (white). It helps keep the pressed fold stay in the fabric. Also, if you have to take out a hem, or adjust the legs of a pant, it let's you redo any pressed lines.
I love details...I love the way you have everything around in a circle so you never have to get up and walk across the room. I need to see about getting a knife for my serger today. I love my serger.
I worked on a huge automatic sewing machine for years. Her name was the Dutchess..I had to fill heavy frames with fabric to make tools bags. Had 3 going at the same time mostly. But the frames had sharp teeth and they bit...lol. So I never had nails till I recently retired. Its so wonderful to have nails...
Silly question, if I want to make longer, where in the pattern do I do this? I’m very tall and usually there is a horizontal line as a guide on both the front and back. Is it the size key, line inside?
Hi, Diana may I ask what cover stitch machine you use. I'm struggling with doing the he on the every day tee on my regular sewing machine. I love this shirt pattern ;)
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC Thank you so much! Now I have to shop for some Double-Brushed Polyester and French Terry Fabrics - I've been hearing those 2 names quite a bit lately. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
This is an older video, so don’t know if you’ll reply to my question. The T-shirt that you’re wearing…is it the Going Home Sweater, or the Straight fit Raglan? Also, do you have tips for seeing cuffs? I have a bugger of a time sewing them on my serger. Thank you, Cindy
No worries! Just measure the neckline circumference and then multiply that by 87%. Then cut your neckband 1.5" tall x the result of your multiplication.
linda davis I just go slowly when I steam my hem allowance and let it sort of fold a tiny bit as I do to make the hem. Make sure to use lots of pins. 😉 I think I will be making a video on this soon as I’ve had a few people ask me about curved hems
Should you not sew from top down rather than bottom up so the garment hangs better. This is a beginners video and there are so many things not covered.
My sewing teacher was 50 years in the industry and she always taught you sew a garment towards the heart. Sleeves and side seams from bottom to top. shoulders from outside in.
@@maidenmakesreviews That is really intere5brcausd I thought it was from shoulders down so the garment falls better. Xx Not sure there is one correct answer!!
Love that you use your iron board as you work.thats very unique.

I love to watch you sew in the evening I have learned soooo much.
Thank you, what top are you wearing?
Just ordered it today. I have TONs of cute knits, can't wait to sew this baby up!!!! Gonna make a thousand!!! Yep, cut my nails short when I sew.

So glad I found you. Look forward to sew along with you. You make it look so easy. Thank you so much, can't wait to get started.
Another great Ellie and Mac pattern sew along video Diana. Thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
Excellent demonstration.
Thanks for sharing...do you think the Best Press starch would help keep the fabric together and not roll and of course using lots of pins 😊
I would love to see how you finished the curved hem
Hi! Love watching you! I realize we all have different sergers, but approximately what settings did you use for such a finkiny, rolly knit?

I've added this to my to do list!
Where did you buy your table from?
I'm kind of new to garment sewing - what kind of knit fabric are you using for this Everyday Tee Pattern? It looks so soft.
It’s been a while, but I think maybe double brushed poly or French terry.

Did you deepen the neckline? Mine from the pattern is flatter
We you serge is the blade down? So it's not trimming anything off.
wanted to see what we are sewing :)

She is sewing the Everyday Tee pattern.
Bridget Olsen she’s asking ab the shirt she’s wearing. Not the shirt she’s sewing.
What is the name of your surger and what's the best recommend?
Is that a 3/8 seam allowance for the neckline?
what fabric are you using please.
i love the fabric, cnt wait to sew this patt up
shona kennedy thanks! Please post a pic!!
Do you ever stabilize the shoulder seams to prevent stretching over time? Just curious cause I hear this alit and I’ve never done it
not for this top. I would if it was a heavier top with maybe a ruffle or a dress but I don't for simple tops and have not had an issue ❤️
Are you cutting anything off as you serge?
Just got this pattern and cant wait to try it. Wacky Wed. deal.
I'm sorta new to serging and not having great success with it. What type of stitch do you use for your seams?
Nannypie2 I just use the regular stitch on the serger. Are you using a ball point needle? Those are best for knit fabric
Brilliant!! Thank you. Love your videos :)
tricia1234gm yay! I’m so glad you do. I love making them!!
Are you using a 4 thread or 5 thread on the serger and what so you have the settings on
Jolene Doty I am using a 4 thread serger. I have them all set at 4. I don’t usually change my settings very much 😀
When you hem the sleeves , do you fold under twice or once? And the bottom?
I fold twice when it’s a woven but with knit you only have to fold over once!
I accidentally cut the neck on the every day tee larger. So the band in the pattern doesn't fit. How do l add a band that will fit???
No worries! Just measure the neckline circumference and then multiply that by 87%. Then cut your neckband 1.5" tall x the result of your multiplication.
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC Oh, thank you so much!! I was afraid l ruined the whole thing!!
Do you have the knife on when you do your neckband?
Jennifer Blake yes I do 😉
Is the neck band cut on a bias?
It is cut horizontally. The stretch fabric doesn’t require being cut on the bias.🩷
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC thank you!
Great great Tshirt
So glad you love it
Where do you buy the knit fabrics? Thanks!
deanna ruiz I mostly purchase my fabrics online. I like knitpop.com, sincerelyree.com, purpleseemstress.com... these are a few of my favorite places 😉
I seriously need to stop watching these videos.... I've bought so many patterns tonight because of these videos. 😂😂
I agree, she is so good at the sew a longs.
I would like to do a sew along for Women's 24/7 Top.
What pattern are you wearing in this video?
The going home! Love it!
Did you ever do a button up sweater ?
Not yet but we have the Chapman cardigan which is sort of like a button up one just with bands!
I watched the video to see how you hemmed it, but that part was missed 🥲.
How do you make side hems look nice and even
linda davis I just go slowly when I steam my hem allowance and let it sort of fold a tiny bit as I do to make the hem. Make sure to use lots of pins. 😉 I think I will be making a video on this soon as I’ve had a few people ask me about curved hems
