Thank you for this very clear tutorial and all your tips - I love the pattern and even though I use size 20 (46) it fits me perfect. In the last two weeks I made 8 Shirts with different neck solutions and different sleeve lengths in nearly every colour and black and white. It is an absolute basic pattern for my wardrobe and so mutable. The next shirt on my list is baby blue and I shall use your method treating the strip at the neck and the sleeve seams. I am looking forward for more of your tutorials and hopefully more people may discover this channel.
@@handmadebyceliahann1336 have you sewn denim or thicker materials on it? If do how did it perform. I broke a needle on a hem of muslin where the hem and side seam meet. I didn't watch your video before on splitting the side seam which it seriously useful thank you!
Hi, at 9:55 you said "stretching the neckline to match the neckband". But actually should be the other way round, "stretch the neckband to match the neckline."
Thank you so much for picking up on that. You're perfectly right. I guess editing late at night after a full day's work is not the best solution! I'll put a note in the description. Thanks again!
Just as an update. I looked into how to fix this and managed to edited out the 2 places I switched the words, in the process learning some new skills in RUclips editor. Thanks again for mentioning this.
Thank you for this tutorial. I don't understand how to pick up the right size. Either it's waist bust or hip, I fall into 3 different letter category. Which one should I should ? Should it be the same letter for each garment or can I choose different letter? I hope my question is clear. Thanks in advance!
Hi. You can grade between sizes. So if for instance your bust is a size C and your hips a size E you can trace the size C in the upper part of the pattern and gently curve out to the size E in the hips. The waist has quite a bit of positive ease so you shouldn't need to alter that. The main areas are the bust (so that the shoulders etc. is a good fit) and the hips (so that there is enough room and it's not too tight or too baggy). The pattern is layered and nested so if you print out your sizes you can easily grade the pattern pieces.
I love the curved hem too. It sits very nicely on the body. No this pattern isn't mine, it's a pattern by the designer and owner of French Navy Patterns.
Exactly what I was looking for an incredibly helpful- you’re a great teacher, thank you!

The fabric you have used is beautiful. Could you please tell me where it was purchased from. Thank you. Also great tutorial with excellant details.
Hi. I purchased the fabric from a small local shop who unfortunately do not have an online presence.
I love the curved hem. Is this tour pattern.
