I tired the Hartmann Neuron VSTi some years ago with an Intel Core i7-3930K Hexa-Core Processor 3.2 Ghz and 64GB of RAM and it still glitched out. It didn’t even sound that good when it did run smooth though. The free OsTIrus, Access Virus TI emulator from the usual suspects on the other hand sounds phenomenal.

Aaron, some of the "music" you played reminds me of either Kraftwerk and/or Jean-Michel Jarre. ;)

Been ages since I used Bidule, but IIRC there’s links to old versions via a forum post stickied to the Plogue Bidule forum…might give that a try?

Even though we try our best to have backwards compatibility for as long as we can, we usually throw the towel at 20 years. On Mac its even worse as Apple makes it nearly impossible to target a vast array of OS releases. Bidule, like all our new apps have moved to exclusively x64 and ARM64.

Oh, hello! I just subscribed to your channel -- it contains amazing work.
I wasn't really expecting the latest Bidule to work, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to try.
Would it be possible to get an older version to try, like v0.9730, or another older version that knew how to handle the older VST SDK?

why don't you start your vst host in a console, and see if there are any errors being spewed?
maybe it's missing some DLLs. try installing all the visual c++ runtime libs. a lot of devs forget about that one in particular, idk why.

I don't know Windows deeply so I didn't think of it, but that's a good idea! I will try it.

Alas, nothing came from the console experiment. But, Hermann has a "tracing" version of VSTHost I tried. I found the traces from when it opens the GUI; alas, it doesn't seem to give any clues:

      Tenacity? Sunk cost fallacy?
In all seriousness though, there's nothing quite like it. The description of how it actually works -- something to do with neural networks -- is very vague. I'd really like to know more about the internals of how it operates.

@@Lantertronics That was my concern all the way back to the original hardware synth - felt to be trading on what was a buzzword at the time, without much explanation "Oh it's our terribly proprietary supersecret Hot Commodity! That's all you need to know."
