    Its probably so that they could do work on both the memory and the intro simultaneously without needing to create redundant files

      @@bigPoe comparatively to other games today, fallout 4 was decently optimized, coming in at around 40GB with quite a bit of content. unlike.... yeah you know

    • @flakeyboy7009
      @flakeyboy7009 5 месяцев назад +1

      the amount of space it takes up was decently optimized, the rest of the game however i cannot say the same for (even though i highly enjoy FO4)

    • @ShadeDergon97
      @ShadeDergon97 5 месяцев назад +1

      Optimization may have been a reason, but I think the bigger reason was consistency, as this scene in particular shows up no less than three times; The first time being in the intro, the second time being in Kellogg's memories, and the third (technically second) is during the Sole Survivors memories, if the player goes to the Memory Den before saving Nick. Not sure if that last one uses the same cell as well, but I imagine it would.

    i wouldnt go too deep into theory crafting, I'd imagine this was just done for simplicity's sake. re-using assets when no one will notice is always the right move

      story theory crafting I mean

  • @meoff7602
    @meoff7602 5 месяцев назад +3

    Pretty simple, to make the open scene not require loading the entire vault. Smaller space, less load time. So the cut scene can happen without stopping to load.

  • @The_Punisher

    Its so they didn't have to make another cell for the Memory Quest

    I figured this out when, for funsies, I spawned in a Moe Cronin into the initial scene for laughs. Then when i went to the memory Den before learning about Nick and during the Kellogg memory thing....the Moe I spawned was still there.

    The theory of this being Kellogs memory seems a bit corny and flakey.

  • @octosalias5785
    @octosalias5785 5 месяцев назад

    I know its crazy but in my heart I know Nate/Nora are synths. Kellogg is also a synth who believes he is a cyborg, just like Armitage and the runaway android from Fallout 3. Their VIPs get Coursers but they have to have a sense of loyalty. The only bodyguards worthy of Father would be synths who think they are Shaun's parents. Why now? Because Father has urgent work on the surface he must complete before he dies, ie the energy device

  • @zachjones8085
    @zachjones8085 5 месяцев назад

    If its not for mechanical simplicity in making the game.... it might be part of that whole synth theory. Like, there is that whole theory that you play as a synth replica of Father's parent. The idea being they simply took Kellogg's memory of the event to give it to the synth parent.
    I personally don't love that theory, but still is another possible reason for this.

      @@Loreweavver I can see where people are coming from with the synth theory, but ultimately I'm fairly convinced that it's just a result of coincidental things coming together and not at all Bethesda's actual intention. The player having VATS before getting a Pip Boy is an oversight, the logs discussing synths being tested with similar abilities are just throwaway lore, DiMA was just messing with Nate/Nora's head in the Far harbor DLC like he was with the girl they arrived in search of, etc. It's an interesting food for thought theory but I really don't think it should be taken too seriously. Bethesda's never really been the types to leave that kind of thing up to the players to figure out, they like to be very up front and straightforward with their major plot twists directly in the story so the player doesn't miss them. The more vague stuff for you to piece together is usually world building stuff relating to certain NPC's and/or locations, not something that would have major implications for the entire main storyline.

    • @Loreweavver
      @Loreweavver 4 месяца назад

      @@Crow_Rising to be fair I don't think Bethesda puts nearly as much thought into these games as the players eventually do.
      That is to say I agree with your assessment but I'm in the camp that when all is said and done the player character appears to be a synth.
      But considering it is, in actuality, a simulation (as in we are playing a video game) it is what the player ultimately decides.

    While the theory "Nate/Nora are Synths" is fun, thisbis Bephesda reusing assets in an area not soaking up memory.
    To keep the game flowing at a pace, it needed to change the would map without spending time loading. What its doing is quick loading Kellogs memory to give us that scene in a nice flow without loading too long.
    Think of this a loading crawlspace, game needed a moment and sends you to Kellogs void.

    I think regardless of the fact it shows up in the memories later, it was the perfect place to have a post war, but pregame scene. At that point the vault might still have been decent minus the dead staff, but the pod rooms might of been on standby. Because the second you wake up the second time lighting is different, alarms are blaring everywhere, things are dripping and you see cryo venting, whereas the entire Kellog scene nothing seems to be amiss aside from the contents of the scene. Which implies when Kellogg and his crew showed up they were trying to avoid damaging the place, but after Shaun worked out in the institutes favor, they sent synths to wreck that place, but left Nate/Nora as a backup just in case, until Father realized one of his parents was still alive (assuming the Synth theory isn't true) and decided to run his experiment.

    Without even realizing it you have basically confirmed a fan theory about the sole survivor. It has been a theory for awhile that he's a synth and that Shawn's dad actually died the same day as his mom and he created a synth and had him frozen in the vault to release him and see if he created a perfect replica of his dad one that would get upset at his kidnapping and seek him out destroying the institutes enemies as he journeys.

      I seriously doubt Father would let pet project get to that point without shutting it down.

      The only things within the entire cutscene in the cryo chamber is just the chambers, the characters and the player character hands.
      Why make the game load the entire pre-war vault and thus bloating the files when you could just share the same cell for the memory mission?
      Also the Sole Survivor has never been a synth, there’d need to be wayyy more evidence if this was the case.
