      I watched David Land response and all of Twitter after the decision. Definitely a lot heat, I looked at the points, it comes down how an 11th team can handle 2025 the old regulations to 2026 new regulation changes for the engines. The tracks to build additional garages for more teams would add $$$ which the current Concorde agreement would strain those tracks (legit but maybe they should have built more garage in case of scenario like this). Finally GM building and supply the engine to teams that was dagger there. I mean who knows what will happen next maybe it could go to court bc FIA approved but F1 did not thus maybe they could argue something of anti competitive laws. We’ll see

    • @MinisterManDan
      @MinisterManDan 4 месяца назад +6

      It's not really any of that. F1 has a sick team on the grid that needs to be gone (Haas) that has no hope of being competitive and they want that team gone. If they had 10 competitive teams and an 11th showed up with good backing, there'd be a different argument here. But when you've got a total disaster that you want gone, you don't let someone else waltz in. They want him to buy Haas. If he wants in, thats what he'll do.

      I don't really agree. Dale Jr means 10x more than Michael Andretti ever will and NASCAR isn't rolling out the red carpet to give him a charter either, because the owners don't want their investment devalued even for Jr.
      F1 has made it clear what Michael needs to do if he wants in: buy the decrepit Haas team so they can get that useless bottom feeder off the grid. They're not going to give him an alternate path when there's a deeply sick team that needs disposing of.

    • @MinisterManDan
      @MinisterManDan 4 месяца назад

      @@masoneveridge4078 I'm not sure you got me here. What I'm saying is Dale Jr being an owner would actually bring a lot of positives to NASCAR given he's the most popular or 2nd most popular driver ever and he has a whole media career that no other owner has, and yet NASCAR has done the same thing to Dale Jr that F1 is doing to Michael. NASCAR will be happy if Dale Jr pays the money in (that he does not want to pay) and F1 would be fine with Michael if he bought the Haas team (which apparently he doesn't want to do).
      If Dale Jr can't get preferential treatment to NASCAR where he actually adds value, why do people expect Michael to get that from F1 where his name is synonymous with embarrassment, arrogance and failure?

    I think FOM's actual fear is that Andretti's entry would open the floodgates for other IndyCar team owners like Roger Penske and Chip Ganassi to enter F1 and lead a coup against them, a coup that would ultimately lead to IndyCar purchasing F1 and creating a series combining the best technical regulations of F1 and IndyCar. This would, in my opinion, create an absolutely fantastic open-wheel series.

    As an F1 fan for over 20 years this decision along with the whole controversy surrounding 2005 US GP are the two biggest PR blunders F1 has had in the US. This was a wonderful opportunity to actually grow the sport long term in the US not just with street races in Miami & Vegas that will totally lose fan appeal after a few years & F1 blew it. Now F1 is at very real risk of being in the same position after the boom in popularity subsides they were in following the 2005 US GP where no one in the US racing community cared about the sport because of the politics involved. Andretti in my view should continue to remain in Indycar (they are needed as the series is totally lost without them) & pursue getting into NASCAR along with the NHRA & even MotoGP. I would love to see Andretti enter MotoGP as it would really grow that sport in the US which is something MotoGP hasn't had since the days of Nikki Hayden.

    It's baffling. The FIA (which should be the only organism that matters in this) approved them, yet they get blocked essentially cause of the rest of the teams not wanting to distribute the money with another one (which is understandable from their POV, but it shouldn't be enough to deny them their entry, let alone those in charge of FOM to support them), thus denying the entry of a structure that's more than ready to enter Formula One literally next year.
    Question is, what now? Andretti will be in F1, I have zero doubts about it. They key is when; the teams and FOM wanna push their entry mainly cause of the entrance fee, which right now is set at 200 Million dollars, but the current Concorde Agreement (which is F1's equivalent to a CBA) expires at the end of next year, so them being able to push Andretti's debut to at least 2026 would allow them to increase that fee and thus get more cash from the FIA and Andretti. What can Michael do? Welp, three options
    1- Either try 'till the end with the help of the FIA to be on the grid for next year
    2- Wait for the nect Concorde Agreement, pay the new entrance fee (which will be at least 600 Million from what has been rumored) and get Cadillac to start working on a PU as soon as possible
    3- The one that might be the key for them to enter in the short term, which is buying an existing team. With how well F1's doing financially right now, it would cost them at least as much as the post-2026 fee, possibly a billion or more, but you'd also get a team at the moment you purchase and an extra factory, assets, etc. that could help them get competitive even sooner than expected. Right now, the two main candidates for this would be Haas, Williams and Racing Bulls (FKA AlphaTauri, Toro Rosso and Minardi), even though I wouldn't totally rule out Alpine
    Either way if you're a fellow F1 fan and aee disappointed by this, keep hope. This is by no means the end of this thing.
    PS: Soymotor, Spain's main F1 site, made a great analysis four months ago about this whole thing. Considering what happened today was the main scenario they discussed, I totally recommend it if you know Spanish: ruclips.net/video/zvmoCYNqI5Q/видео.htmlfeature=shared

      About option 2, I don't think GM can start working on an engine because I don't believe the 2026 regs are finalized yet. Plus, I have a feeling F1 will still find excuses to deny them.
      Also, something tells me the dillution fee will be around $800 million, which is insane. Why can't F1 themselves make the pie bigger? Surely they have the money to do that given F1's recent success.
