I don't think I would've done the same as OP (forgiving her dad) because of my own past and hatred of infidelity but I will not call OP a "doormat" because I don't know her entire story, just what she posted for context in her original post and the updates.
It's probably because Jane passed later vs sooner and the bio mom was out of the picture that the dad started taking accountability (with a therapist as a mediator) that she was able to forgive
This update is truly eye-opening. It’s heartwarming to see someone prioritize honesty and compassion, even in such a challenging situation. Family dynamics can be incredibly complex, especially when emotions and difficult circumstances are involved. You did the right thing by standing up for what’s fair and just, despite the pressure. Wishing strength and peace to everyone involved as they navigate this tough time. Stay strong and continue to do what aligns with your values.
I've heard this story before but I wonder if the dad thinks it was worth it to lose a amazing woman and his kids for a fling with someone he already knew wasn't good
This girl is so much stronger then she think she is. Keep moving forward, Gurly!
It’s sad that this kind of Stepmom seems rare 😢
