The song is about letting go of a person. "Gusto ko nang" = "I already want to", "bumitaw" = "let go". Basically the summary is her struggle letting go of the person, then she gets to the point where she says "finally I am choosing myself" "I am letting go". So it's like personal empowerment, that it takes more courage to let go of a person that's bad for you, coz she eventually chooses herself and decides to let go and that is an accomplishment.

The variety of emotions she conveys in this song is stunning! From fragile, hurt over to despair, anger and ultimately self confidence and peace of mind, she gives us a full rollercoaster. (Not to speak about her vocal abilities!)

About this song, "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" is translated as "I Want To Let Go" (or "I Already Want To Let Go"); it's a heart-breaking, heart-wrenching song, about when someone is thorn between clinging on to love or letting it go, between choosing oneself or the other person, when a relationship is about to break and fall apart. It was part of the soundtrack for a TV drama series "The Broken Marriage Vow". Imagine yourself being so in love with your spouse, but you found out he was cheating on you. Would you hold on and stay in this relationship while being hurt, or would you let go of this relationship, for your own sake? You must have looked up the translation of the lyrics by now, and you understand better the message of the song. But even while we are listening and watching Mori's performance, somehow we already felt the emotions. She is a master storyteller through her singing, and this performance was powerful and intense, that we are left awe-struck, mind-blown, amazed at the great talent Mori has. 🥰
Besides the lyrics there is a harder history, which until I know is the true history of the first singer who sang and keep singing this. The man of the song was violent with the woman, beat her and there was even sexual violence. So, her dillema was keep living this way or leave him to live her life, since she truly loved him. If you watch the original version and clip, it's a depressive history. When Morissete start to sing it, there was a a change of the approach, Mori reacts to the violent man, she doesn't just watch the facts. Morissete version is less depressive and it seems give a response to the situation, look how she become more agressive at the end, although the dillema, keep together or leaving the guy keeps. The song in fact is very dramatic and even graphic in the first version.

The unbelievable thing here (besides the performance itself) is that Morissette was not happy with her performance and apologized to her fans for not being as good as she wanted to be. To me, this is as good or better than other versions she has done of Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw. That at least partially explains why Mori is so great - she sets the bar incredibly high for herself and strives for absolute perfection (not to mention that she is an angel sent by God to minister to us mere humans)!!!❤❤❤❤
Yes, it made me so sad to see her teary and apologetic. I do want her to take good care of herself, but she had absolutely nothing to apologize for. This appearance reminds me a lot of her Shine appearance - she wasn't in the best vocal health at the time, but the performance was still spectacular.

Fantastic reaction thank you. Many people go on about how good Adele is and yes she is a superstar but Morissette Amon as shown here is equally as good. it means "I wanna Let Go" so by just the title alone you know it a heartbreaking song thus the breaks, the cracks, and the squicks to add more emotions and emphasis to the song
