Nice! A nice some up of how to inflate... and take off. I am looking for blueprints for a bulbous envelope. It’s for a tissue paper balloon. Anyone got some spare blueprints? Around 10 gores if possible.
Tha gas tanks are specifficly deigned for balloons and sold by the balloon manufacturers. go on line to Cameron Balloons the world largest balloon manufacturers. we only use propane gas as it is the hotest burning with BUT's to volume.
OK lets give you a better answer than Albert did with just No! beacuse we don't usually fly in controlled airspace (around aireports with jets and stuff) we don't need to file a flight schedule. also with a powerd plane you can fly around in circles and go where you like, with a balloon you go where the wind goes. Ideal weather is clear skies light wings at ground level andout 10mph or less and the cool of the day early morning or late evenig (itsa hot air balloon) remembering that you have to be on the ground before dusk. becuase you can't see power lines and things like that. Unlike microlite and parasailers a hot air balloon is a registered aircraft and you do require a piolts license to fly and a commercial pilots license yust like an airline pilot. So you have to do all the exams just like any other pilot. The reral question is when are you going up?
also 2 da professional balloonist doing da flying u know it's a bad idea 2 land rite close 2 where a combine is doing farm work easy way 2 get run over and not 2 mention cause an explosion.
there are many place to obtain a hot air balloon. did you want a new one or a second hand one. New can set you back £20,000 up to £70,000and more. Professional balloons can cost £250,000. Second Hand balloons from £2,500. I would suggest if you are really interestd to contact a local ballooning group and spend some time with them, do some ground crewing and have a few flights and then look at getting a balloon. Unlike a microlite or parasailing a balloon pilot has to have a pilots lisence just like any registered air craft pilot. Yes balloons are a registered aircraft. You need to do exams on weather, mapping, radio, etc, etc and have to learn to fly a balloon and fly 4 flights with an examiner. So take the first step and go along to a local group and go from there.
No it's not flamer risristant but heat risistand and don't forget it only has to be hotter inside the balloon than outside. there is actually a strip inside at the top much like the temprature you measue a baby with in the forehead. each year when the balloon is air worthyed it is checked and very rarely get hotter than 80 or 90 degrees C. and what it tend to do is melt rather than burn. It is a special fabric called ripstock which is a thin poyimer material with thread running through it to stop tears from spreading. It is very rare that you will see a balloon burn as when we see we have caught it at the mouth we turn the burner off and this is only when we are infalting the balloon. that dig flame you see only goes about a 5th the way uop inside. the biggest problem we have is landing on a bush and ripping the material.
Actually you do and can stear the balloon. because you have to have a pilots license to fly you have to learn about weather anmd winds. So while you cant actually turn a corner what you do if you want to go another direction is take the balloon up or down in altitude as winds can change direction beween say 100mts and 300mts and then you may have to go up to 1500mts. on may balloons you can rotate it on its axis with flaps on the sides and by pulling on cords open the a little vents in the sides and let air out and like the space shuttles little thruster jets it spins you round slowly. knowing the winds and how to use them is very important in balloon racing and competition. Yes, we have them and it's very similar to yeach racing.
it seems that you guys know this thingy :) I want to take a balloon ride - but my mom is overly panicky - should I take this for her or not ? I mean up in the air is really scary or just a little strange ? let me know :)
are you in the UK, If so look up Adventure Balloons on the internet. there you can fly in a balloon with up to 18/20 passangers in the same balloon. this takes away a lot of fear and the amount of people that have flown ahve always come down wanting to book another flight. anyone can be apassanger as long as they can see over the basket say 10-12 and we have lown people as old as 90+ and they have had the thrill and tranquiity of their lives. we even have a basket designed to take disabbled passangers in a wheele chair as the basket has perspec sides so they can see out while still seated in their chair, with a roll on roll off gate at the end to board. And if you think you're too frail to climb in and jump around we load you while the basket is still on it's side and you are on a seat so as the basket becomes upright so do you and then you are in the standing position. I guess the only people that would not benefit from a hot air balloon ride would be the blind but I'm prepared to be proved wrong on that one too. most countries have commercial balloon operators.
You can buy a hot air balloon complete second hand with a trailer from around £5000 but you can join a local club and be in a sindicate and own part of the balloon and take turns in flying and ground crewing. then you have less outlay and only the cost of the gas for the flight.
depend where you are and which country but the best id to locate your local hot air ballooning group. You need a pilots license so have to do all the exams, weather, radio, maps, air law, etc but dependig on the country in the UK 8 flying ours and 4 test exam flights with an instructor. you are flying a registered aircraft.
also it's a bad idea 2 use da burner from da basket when inflating, it's a better idea 2 use a hand held burner so dat way there's plenty of fuel for da flight.
Last summer I went to the High Sierra Balloon camp, and I am getting my junior pilots certificate next year when I turn fourteen. By the way what is a go pro?
Yes, you have to have a pilots license just like a normal pilot on any registered aircraft, unlike a microlite or parasailer that don't. However, you only need 8 hours of flying and the 4 exam test flighta with an examiner. Plus all the other exams like weather, radio, mapping, air law, etc etc. Oh and very importand Fire Safety.....
Going to use this in training as a very good example of the lack of safety from the pilot and the crew. I saw it was a C- registered balloon so guessing by the accents and registration it's Canadian but I bet your instructor would have a fit if he saw it. Also the lack of training of the ground crew. I going to show it at a local pilots group evening and see if they can pick up att the mistakes. Very sloppy and very lucky. Give you a big hin't on the first NO NO, where the hell was the teather? @@markfreeman408 So what? The fact it was featured in a commercial make it even worse. Even more people will notice the lack of safety. Nothing to be proud of or boast about.
@@markfreeman408 Well, you know Mark, I'm not going to get into a long dialogue over this but I also fly a 225 with a basket for the disabled, a 350 and 425 with 16 and 18 passanger configurations both in the UK and on the African continent, and if we were ever to try that you could kiss both your commercial and private license goodbye. Just because its done doesn't make it right, clever or safe. A gust of wind can come from anywhere and if your still getting passangers on-board just imagine the consequences. But then I guess the cavalier attitude in the Americas is acceptable.
OK there are two types of balloons Hot air balloons which use propane gas with a burner to heat the air inside the envelpe. Then there are lighter than air gas balloons that can be hellium or hydrogen, both lighter than air gasses.
