The colored dots on a tire sidewall are alignment aids: • Yellow Dot: Marks the tire’s lightest point. Align it with the valve stem, which is usually the heaviest part of the wheel, to reduce the need for extra balancing weights. • Red Dot: Indicates the stiffest point of the tire. If the wheel has a mark for its low point (like a dimple), align the red dot with that for a smoother ride. If both dots are present, prioritize the red dot unless otherwise specified. These help with mounting and balance but don’t affect safety if not perfectly aligned. A Hunter Roadforce would confirm all this for you.
Nice set up you have and the information you gave is generally correct. But, just for giggles, when you have time, put a bare rim on your balancing machine and find the low spot on the rim by measuring runout. If there is one, line up the red dot with that, If not, the red dot is meaningless. Then mark the heavy spot on the rim with a piece of tape. Is it exactly at the valve? Install the tire with the yellow dot at the tape mark.
Red dot lines up with the high point of the rim not valve stem. There should be a mark on the rim that you would want to line up the Red Dot with. Not the valve stem.
That is correct well said and simple. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback!
If only that would work for the BFGoodrich KO2s. Lol!
Hello
How is Corghi balancing mashin ?
Hello! It's a great machine, no complaints!
Thank you
If yellow is the lightest why would you use the red dot for the heaviest spot on the wheel?. Valve stem. Use the yellow.
Thanks for the input!
Red dot for steel rims ....Yellow dot for Cast rims

@@reikawheels You're welcome. I've been trying really hard to get this right. I may be a humble tire guy but I believe in doing my job right. 🤘
