    Been a subscriber for some time - but just have to say for anyone who owns a Mercedes with a W204 engine - this is by far the best resource for a DIY mechanic. And replacing the intake manifold is not an easy task. Alot of steps - and you detailed it meticulously. Thanks for the excellent video.

    Thank you for providing this helpful video! I had the same issue as did a huge number of Mercedes owners. No recall even with all of the complaints. Mercedes knows they have flawed plastic flap rods and rotator. Sad. The large number of repair videos on this intake manifold should tell you how bad the design was. Anyway, I replaced mine before there was engine damage with a rebuilt intake with metal replacement parts. Bought it on ebay for $300 3 years ago. Now they have an aftermarket brand new one on ebay for under $200. It runs great now. No issues. It wasn't that hard of a repair, just time consuming.

    Just did this on my sister's 2007 R350. This video was such a big help. The string to hold the gaskets was the best part. Started right up and intake codes cleared. Thank you for your guidance through this entire project! What would have costed her over $3,000, only costed her about $500 for the intake and gaskets. Oh, and for me to drive from Virginia beach to Manassas Virginia for 2 days.

I disconnected all of the ignition coil harnesses which gave me more space and there were like 2 or three clips to disconnect once you lift the manifold. The install went smoothly and I'm back up and running. Guess I should have just sacrificed the time and did this 3 months ago...

    As always great video and even though I am a mechanic with well over 30 years experience I always like to watch these videos rather than struggle to locate hidden bolts etc. I would like to make a couple of comments when referring to items in a car Left or Right this is done when sitting in the car not facing the engine other wise it can get confusing, also as there are both left and right hand drive cars its a good idea not to refer to driver or passenger sides, one other item when inserting the injectors it is always a good idea to lubricate the seals I use dielectric grease or WD40.I hope you don't take my comments as criticism I am merely giving my thoughts.This is a really great video and I shall be doing this on my wife's car and will be referring to it many times I'm sure, keep them coming.

    I have a question: When you remove the fuel rail from the intake the little caps that are on the rail are those fuel pressure regulators and can those be changed or you need to take out the whole fuel rail and replace it if the fuel regulators go bad on the fuel rails? I have a p0173 code on bank 2 and I really think it's fuel pressure that's causing that code after driving the car to getting up to operating temperature shutting the key off waiting about 20 minutes and then going back into the car the car will stutter and hesitate after turning the key but it drives normal with no hesitation but the check engine light will stay on? I'm just curious about that fuel pressure regulator that's on the fuel rails and if they can be serviced or not?

    do the injectors have to go back in the same place, ie don't mix them up. would they have to be reprogrammed if they went back in different order?

    Thank you for the video. I'm doing this project right now on a 2007 c280 4matic. The center actuator capsule broke from the pivot point so I'm replacing those parts with new updated aluminum parts. This video showed me ahead of time what I'm getting Into. I have star c4 that I could pull up step by step but still good to watch first

      Yeah those plastic pieces on the intake manifold are the worst brittle batch of parts I've ever seen. Good luck with the job. It's tedious but not too bad.

      @@mikes6067 I know it ranges from $3,000 to $5,000 depending on where u go obviously the higher cost is at the dealership. I personally dont rob ppl and I have the star diagnostic system the same software as the dealership has so I can clear codes program modules do coding all that. And I promise to do any job for 50 percent less than dealership. I help customers find the parts for as cheap as possible i dont mark up price on parts i let customer buy them personally and the rest is for my labor

    What is the price parts and labor for this that I can expect to pay I just got a 2006 c230 … the previous owner says may need coil … or Intake gasket … I found that a loud pop happens as well as a wicked mis fire .. while running car seemed like it wanted to overheat I stopped to put water in and seen that looked as if someone put stop leak in … codes presented on obd 0073 and a ton of misfire and lean codes …

    Very helpful video. At the fuel rail of my CLK 280 I shortly deteced after starting the engine in the morning some fuel escape at the rund part (pressure-valve?) situated between the injectors at the rail .Is it possible to replace the rail without removing the manifold or is it even possible to replace this certain pressure-valve?

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  6 лет назад

      Glad the video helped. You do not have to remove the air intake manifold to remove/ replace the rail. You should be able to remove and replace the diaphragm but I haven't tried. Will check later and let you know.

    Great video to show!, I accidentally broke the crank position sensor while removing on R350, gasoline engine 😪. I am so sad and depressed how to remove the broken part stills in the hole. Thinking how to make access to drill this broken part and remove. I would appreciate if you can let me know if I remove the intake manifold then there is any space for me to access to. Desperate for you replying. Thank you

    Hey Man just finished watching this whole vid! I am preparing to do a repair on my intake manifold soon, and as it needs to come out I would to know what are you torquing the main bolts? I'm highly OCD on what each bolt should be Torqued to!

      Intake manifold install E10 bolts(8ea) - 9Nm
      others - Not that important but 8~10Nm is best

  • @2Mont106
    @2Mont106 3 года назад

    Hey iRepair Auto, were you able to get back with Carlis on his question about P0304 #2 misfire? Reason being is that i'm going through a random misfire (P0305/P0300 code permanently) that's primarily showing up as a cylinder #5. I'm thinking a faulty injector (cylinder#5) to be the culprit being that. Reason being is because every time i get on it on the freeway the check engine light will come on. Now i'll pull over, shut the engine off, start it back up and the check engine light will go off...until i get on it again. I hear that the problem can range from multiple sources but the one thing that stands out to me is i can tell that i'm losing some compression from somewhere noticeably when i break stall the car in reverse. it just kind of bogs. I ran these diagnostics through my scanner-MB2 (eg. Intake manifold Absolute Pressure 29.0 kPa ,AFR from Mass Flow Sensor 4.66 g/s, and Fuel Rail Pressure 380 kPa) and really don't know what to make of these readings,as far as set points go, seeing that i'm totally new to the foreign car experience. Thanks
