Why is it Obedience OR Drive Building? Can it be both? What level of responsibility does the trainer have in balancing this on behalf of the dog?

Excellent discussion and I agree completely
I agree with nearly every position these gentlemen referenced. The issue is they work with dogs daily for themselves and clients. The average upland hunter that trains and works with his own dog has not the training skill, time and effort to achieve the same. My issue is I have have dogs that I broke there drive, all my fault and now this dog just isn't up to my standards. I promote drive as strong as possible with obedience being necessary to only control the chaos. Then there are those special dogs but they are not the norm.
