mick walker Thanks Mick, glad you could follow it. It is a well put together kit that's for certain, do think its a bit on the pricey side which it why I hadn't got one sooner but I think its a worthwhile investment. Atb Dave
Can you explain how you put the screw in? In this video it looks as if you drilled the hole and then put the screw in where as surely it would be better to put the screw straight into the tank rather than drill the first hole?
Just drill a small pilot hole, smaller than the screw. It makes it easier to get the screw in and stops any chance of cracking the tank by just forcing the screw in.
If you didn’t find that the screw sealed with the tank when you put it in, what would have been your solution if you did have a slight leak from the header tank? I’ve not done the installation yet but wanted to understand what I can do if it doesn’t go quite as smoothly as yours haha!
When you attach the cable onto the bongos fuse board, are you placing the cable above an existing cable? So it goes into the same opening as the existing cable just slightly above it?
It's a bit complicated because I have the leisure battery bypass on the window blind circuit (part of a split charging kit, it means there is no fuse in slot 6 for me) I used the top half of slot 6 for the alarm, which would have originally provided switched power from the engine to open/close the blinds. The wire in the bottom of slot 6 is feeding power from a new fusebox attached to the leisure battery back into the bongos original window blinds circuit to avoid having to run any new wires for that. If you have a fuse in slot 6 you can use a piggyback fuse holder and take your switch supply off it for the coolant alarm.
Simple answer is no. Imagine there was a fuse in slot 6. I plugged into where its top leg would be and the other cable is where the bottom leg would be. Hope that helps. Quite hard to get my head around to explain. Atb Dave
JUST seen this video, and you should change feed from ACC to ignition, As this was done some time ago have you had any issues with screw in res bottle?
Never thought about switching the feed, cheers. I have had no issues with the screws in the header tank and the alarm worked a treat when I was recently losing coolant from one of the rear heater pipes. Thanks for watching. Atb Dave
Good Eugene that day . periodically watch your videos) I was interested in the device which shows a low level of antifreeze, a very interesting and useful thing. I will not say what is the price of this thing you and how is it proven?
Hello again, The alarm works very well. I recently had coolant seeping from a heavly corroded pipe to rear heater and having the alarm fitted gave me plenty of confidence that I could still drive the van with a temporary patch on the pipe without worrying about running out of coolant(antifreeze), I have since replaced the pipe with a new one. The type I bought is fairly expensive at around £80 GBP compaired to others but I think it was worth the cost. All the best. Dave
A popular distributer of a common painkiller called on the services of an economist amid lagging sales. He told them "double your prices". How will that make us sell more they asked? The public will believe it is a much better product, and they did. The same can be said for this. I bought the same product for £5. Otherwise I like your videos..
furrytomatoes Fair point, I am actually hoping to make a video on one of the cheaper priced units as I want to get one fitted to my brothers van. To be honest I had seen them (although I think the ones I saw were nearer £20) and was in two minds but was persuaded in this direction because of the fact so many other Bongo/Freda owners have this particular model and I hadn't heard a bad word said about it, except its price. Whereas I didn't have anything information to go off with the cheaper model. I do agree though that IMO this unit is way overpriced for what you get in it. Thanks for commenting and glad you like the videos. Atb Dave
That's a great little kit, thanks for the video, well explained.

what size fuse did you use?
I used a 2A fuse. Atb Dave
+h3r34thebanter thanks. do you think a 5a fuse would be too much?
+emmabalfour4 No worries, I think a 5 amp should be ok. Atb Dave
