Steve Shelley is so good, his drumming here is energetic and tasteful. He really drives the songs, a fantastic drummer. Awesome show, Sonic Nurse is my favorite album of there’s, killer setlist and the band is on fire!

SY play the music I heard in my dreams from before I was born. Soul resonance. Ugh, do I miss this band... seeing them live. Followed them for a few shows on Murray St, Sonic Nurse and NYC Ghosts. Got to interview Jim O'rourke when he was playing with them too. First time I saw them live I bawled silently, watching them enraptured. Been my fav band since like, 7th grade.
Hard to believe that Kim Gordon was 52 at this gig. One of my earliest female musician crushes. Steve Shelley is a cool cat. Met him at the Magic Stick in Detroit so many years ago. I had him autograph a small basketball that I stole from the arcade shooting game there. Still remember what he wrote on it: "To Trev: Crime Pays - Steve Shelley"
Saw them in 2000 on the NYC Ghosts tour in a small theater in Bev Hills. They were tremendous, relaxed and unpretentious. Total professionals and perhaps my favorite concert ever.

Was lucky enough to see the Daydream Nation tour just ahead of the release, and I had an advance copy. They played it start to finish, and nobody knew it. Still - blew the roof of the place! What a great band.
F*cking A. I saw them at a small gig in Tampa FL in the late 1980's and still remain enthralled by their ongoing experimentation. It's time for them to be inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame!
the sonic nurse tour was sonic youth at it's best. but they always blew my mind, first time I saw them was in 1991 on the Goo-tour. They were much noisier back then, find this video on RUclips: 1991 the year punk broke.
O show inteiro é muito bom ,som perfeito e muito bem executado,e no final do show que é da hora ! Thurston e Lee sendo extremamente Sônicos bem ao estilo do começo da carreira ...Parabéns ao Glenn Branca que influenciou os dois !

this is one of their best set lists of all time. I love you Sonic Youth!!! I'm so glad I stumbled upon you you continue to inspire me and bring something new out in me everyday
Probably the best acoustics wise HD tape of Sonic Youth. Well worth the time .get ready to have your ears bleed a shout out to the beautiful production.
Damn, what a great show! This might be my favorite SY gig posted on RUclips. I saw them about a year before this one at the 9:30 Club - another incredible show, from the tour promoting one of their strongest albums (Sonic Nurse). *The transition from 'Mote' into 'New Hampshire' is amazing!
And then..around 18:38 the build up starts.....and then you experience the Big Bang for a few seconds. Eternally grateful for that! It's their legacy...despite the sh*t that went on between Kim and Thurston. They made Art with capital A...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Has always been (or, since I first saw them when I was 18 back in 1991) my favorite band, and always will be. How to define that soul in the punk that hits you and finds resonance with your being? In two weeks I'll check out Kim playing in Brussels. Glad she's hanging in, and doing fine so.
I like to alternate Sonic Youth songs with the Pixies in a 1:2:1:2:1 pattern, most of my friends can't tell which is which until I point out the subtleties, a testament to both bands' musical prowess🎶🤘🎵
Yes, right - there's plenty of live vids of this era, as they were near the end of their run and well established and widely filmed, as pretty much every live performance from at least 2000 onward was recorded/filmed, but the finale after Teenage Riot is definitely one of a kind, and not to be missed.
I can't believe it's been 38 years since I first saw them live. Or how long it's been since they called it day. When I die I want to wake up in 1986 again.
-Hey thurston, how old are you?
-I don't know, between 16 and 50

Pure art by Sonic Youth
What a band
One of the most overrated bands ever. They're lIke a shitty version of the pixies..
sounds like an electric fart.
100% put perfectly
Never to be repeated or duplicated…high art
They created walls of sound

It's great that people are looking back and getting this. Very special band

I heard Kim was 49 during this show, have you seen her birth certificate? Can you confirm her age? I'm 52 and I have more than one ID.

love the timeless energy in this band, for me to hear Sonic Youth is walking with a hard wind blowing your hair forever
Put perfectly
couldn't say it better!
Ich verstehe bis heute nicht warum niemand ihre Musik als Filmmusik benutzt hat.

Sonic Nurse is so underrated! Great album!
The best SY live show I have found on youtube yet. Awesome.

Énormes. Je les avais une première fois au printemps de Bourges précédés des Thugs, mémorables
Well, that was just brilliant. They've been gone for so long, i'd forgotten who they used to be. This is the antidote!
