Salam. My humble opinion is we can learn from our history which is human, as sheikh said. We should not be complacent on our history. As Muslim self criticism is important.
Muslims killed Muslims in masses and there are tons of example.
We have examples of many bad apples in history and current time. The stress should be in the human part of history but not pointing error to other faith.
