- Ed's back from Cornwall and he's brought back a brand spanking new set with him.
Today we're chatting about Keir Starmer's trip to Rome to meet Georgia Meloni to discuss the migrant crisis, and potentially take inspiration from Italy's Albania deportation scheme.
Then we stick to Keir Starmer news, after it emerged over the weekend that he and his wife have been getting thousands of pounds of donations in the form of clothing.

@@UkSapyy Yeah if you look closely you can see they're not casting any shadows on it
Should David Lammy and other politicians not be asking donors to give clothes to homeless charities or food to foodbanks ?
yea tax them and fund school meals. these kids are going to be workers one day.
Perhaps a cretin who is critiscising somebody for not being British should ditch the NY Yankees T-Shirt. Pathetic.
26:22 "No-one speaks Latin, you just translate it." Ava you're literally Catholic how did you forget THE POPE?
I think Ava was spot on about the language around migration. Even those people in the UK we refer to as migrants, why do we call British people living overseas ex-pats ?
It drives me nuts, but it's not just us. I'm a British emigrant in Italy, and I've had genuine arguments with Italians who insist that I don't count as an "immigrant". It's just brown people.
I believe we call people who moved out of the UK ex-pats because we are from the persepective of their origin, where was for the people of the country these people move to will call them immigrants. It also matters about culture. related cultures wont consider someone to be an immigrant where as more foreign cultures would be immigrants. As a child to "immigrants" from southern asia, even I consider people from there etc to be immigrants where as say, canadians and aussies I wouldnt even consider to be foreign countries, just other countries but not foreign like france etc. I guess culture, relations and public persepective matters alot in this case
@@anonymoususerinterface So glad I got that as a response because I got the subtlety in the difference even as I wrote it. I agree with your explanation fully and I think we kind of agree in a sense lol
It's doubly ironic when you see enclaves of Brits living in places like the Costa Blanca where they have British pubs, British Restaurants and their own British radio station, they don't speak a word of Spanish and don't socialise with anyone with other Brits.
Then these same people complain about foreigners not integrating and vote for Brexit
From the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary:
"Many people in Britain think of typical British expats as people who live an easy relaxed life in some warm country, meeting each other often for drinks and other social events, and having little contact with local people."
They're only there for the weather and the cheap food and booze - not really the type of immigrant any country would really want to attract, and in all all honesty we are better off without them!
Wow, loving the brighter settings folks....hardly makes your experience any better doing the show, but I like it !!
PM worth £8 m and cant afford his own wardrobe. Hahaha Labour voters gaslight. Serves them all right 😂
You don’t accept gifts?
@@Believe-you-me- a pressie isn't the same as a gift from a Labour donor.

Ava pointing out that cutting foreign aid and the effects of climate change driving migration are points that cannot be repeated or stressed enough.
It's easy to solve the "migrant crossing crisis". Just allow application in any British Embassy in the world so nobody needs to make the crossing to apply
Good looking General on the right but how did she win all those medals?
dont ask what she was doing in kosovo...
It's an eye-ball eating amoeba. Can occur in tap-water!! Contact-wearers more prone to infection due to some erosion of corneal surface due to lens use. People have had to have corneal transplants as a result of the damage caused by this very persistent infection.
It’s one reason why it’s better if wearers of hard (gas permeable) contact lenses do _not_ rinse their lenses in tap water and use contact lens solution instead.
What a bizarre comment.
As an optometrist I thought I finally got to be that guy
I can hardly buy my own clothes either, Kier. Probably not for the same reasons though
It’s mostly coming from his wife. Keir initially refused to work Friday evening for her. Now she’s furious about that and is grabbing all she can. She’s very similar to Kate Middleton nee goldsmith.
Lovely set
Been to order his new suits really , paid by guess who , genie in a bottle ALI
Visual interest! They're looking very squashed up against the background though, maybe move them forward a foot or so? The wide shot also feels a little low down, we're almost peering under the table, hard to judge though. The bookcase is a decent start, though books + fake plants is little blandly Ikea showroom-esque, so over time you probably want to add in Pol Joe souvenirs, easter eggs, framed picture of Ollie, stuff like that to make it more personal.
Robot arms are much less robot arms now too!
I feel like there should be a serious "(recent) books by our (recent) guests" section and then the rest should be gags and in-jokes, (an unlabelled jar of yellow liquid; a rock that says "DUDES" on it; a framed photo of Sadiq Khan but if you look closely you can see he has massive tits) which they can keep adding to regularly.
These guys should take live calls.
"Just personality", nice comeback Ed.
I miss the darker set. It gave it a more casual evening chat feel to it. This feels more like an office pod

Cant believe italian guards look more ridiculous than UK's 😂😂😂😂😂
Please Ed, Ask Mogg for fashion advice.
When I saw the headline on Sunday I suddenly felt like an old man shouting at the TV. How fucking hard is it to put some coast guards out there TO SAVE FUCKING LIVES. I don’t care where they end up but it is a stain upon our country that we can’t do something about this. It’s blood on British hands - where is this fucking Dunkirk spirit I heard about at school.
I couldn’t bring myself to comment on the Grenfell episode because, frankly, it’s upsetting and I thought it was handled beautifully, tactfully and empathetically by Laura and Ava.
But I’m so fucking tired of politicians refusing to stand for anything anymore they’re all just career nonces who ought to have their salaries capped at the level of their commitment to humanitarian causes. (Whatever the fuck that means)
I was in Vietnam teaching English when Grenfell happened and I am haunted to this day by it not because I had any direct contact with the victims but because I saw in real time the perception of my country go up in smoke.
I was watching on the news and it was late so I had no one to talk to I walked to the 24/7 to buy some cigarettes and the shop keeper asked me where I was from, I told him, the look in his eyes is what haunts me - he simply could not understand how this could happen - bear in mind this is a country where the union jack is worn as a fashion symbol. Something to show your belief in certain values, little five year olds have back packs emblazoned with it as they cling to their parent on the back of a scooter as they make their way to school hoping and wishing and praying that they could one day come to such great place…
It fills my heart with such anguish and deep sadness that those same dreams are what drown in the channel again and again and again - Was it not two years ago a pregnant woman drowned in there in winter. Close your eyes and imagine making that choice stood on the shore. Imagine the fear she must’ve felt as the cold water hit her skin for the first time and the deep regret as the realisation set in that she was going to die. All because she wanted a better life for her unborn child.
The callousness of this island is a far far cry from what I used to think this place and its values were.
“Long range a missile” Some of these Ava zingers are slept on… in defence.
I would be more sympathetic to migrants if there wasn't numerous countries travelled though to attempt to get here
Oh this is like what they use on BBC. It's a green screen but with a 3D background. They're still just sitting in a green screen void
Who paid for Johnson's wedding?
The point is Starmer spent his life criticising Boris now he himself is in number 10 he is doing exactly the same. Plus before the election Starmer was always banging on about cleaning up politics & being more transparent. Doesn't it make him look stupid & a hypocrite?.

What are "literal neo-fascists"? 🤣
@@steveblundell7766 members of a party that directly descends from Mussolini's fascist party.
Wondering why it is controversial/apparently hilarious to point out that the heirs to Mussolini are literal neo-fascists (as opposed to say Farage and Reform who have neo-fascist tendencies but more of a debate around whether they are actually neo-fascist or not)?
@@stephenwood2172 oh dear what a childish leap of logic, do you make a special effort not to understand or learn anything? Asylum seekers are not the problem - pensioners are.
That's the problem right there. The perception that two vulnerable groups are anything but vulnerable. As long as we are pitted against each other we do not have our eyes on those at the top who are siphoning monies into their own futures and those of their chums. Tax the rich.

Speaking of clothes, why pander to sadiq khan a man who sees London nightlife failing as ‘progressive’ as it fits with his behind doors values. I don’t agree with all Ava’s positions but boy does he not respect you when cameras are off. Yiu should also ask sadiq why he socialises with lebdevev so much when the majority of readers of paper arent from London
I dont understand whats wrong with accepting gifts. Do people not give gifts on this planet anymore? Fair enough it would be a problem if it was in exchange for a dodgy contract, but thats not happened...
True enough but it's a specific rule that anything gifted to an MP over a certain value has to be declared. In this case, Starmer's team discovered that his wife's dresses should've been declared but they weren't.
@@rononel8046 But his wife's not an MP? Seems like the rules aren't very clear as he said he sought advice already.
@@acolyte10mg like I say, his team discovered it, in all fairness the right we're very quick to say "Leave his wife out of it" when it was discovered Rishi's wife resent a tonne of money from government contracts but are as quick to say "Can't be afford clothes for his wife?" With this. I suspect it's because of their value.
A gift like a present is fine. This is a Labour donor. There is a great deal of difference between political influences and impartiality that just a one of present from a friend.
