A lovely clean, neat and tidy town. The Wheat Museum was interesting. Moorrees artisanal bakery was a wonderful stop with an informative chat on sourdough production by the kind owner. Thank you for the visit.

Hi Sonja and Curtis. You two have educated me on so many different things. From old churches, museums, railways, agriculture, animals, trees, etc, etc. We have beautiful little towns in South Africa. Be safe on the road.

Hi guys all that wheat makes me think about is the old musical OKLAHOMA LOL .lovely clean and tidy town that is thriving with agriculture plenty of old buildings including a impressive town hall .the park with the labyrinth all makes you feel this town is lived in with its established suburbs. The station has seen better days I bet it was a hive of activity back in the day. Name boards 79 miles to cape town crazy. The old coat of arms and Jan smuts so nostalgic. The grounds and NGK church were imposing. Great to see the swimming pool functioning and topnotch sports fields. Very interesting seeing the flat cylos being filled something you'll never see except on dustbugs. The lovely bakery and the lady was so informative about soure dough bread I've been eating it for about a year for my stomach problems. The bagels are so Jewish to me as the only time you could get them was to go to the Jewish area in East London sadly there is only one left 😢 .the museum was great right up my alley with the carts. Its a to see so many olive trees being grown. There are problems with disease in the growing places around the Mediterranean its double the price in the shops from a year ago. Looks like a very smart move. More education of rural SA thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one

This is the well organized and clean town I had seen, the old station well protected to avoid further damage, and the bonus of being at the silo plant, and seeing it in action, you are the best guys, thanks once more for this journey.

I know so many people from this town, thank-you, once more, for the indepth review and showcasing of the town. I think that you will draw lots of feet to Moorrees from this episode. What you have also highlighted is that Moorreesburg is definitely open for business, especially once the N7 widening is complete, in addition to welcoming those tiresome of "city life" and new residents from upcountry. One can easily sit in the traffic on the N2 in Somerset West in the same time that it takes to commute from Moorreesburg to Cape Town..

Just like you we also only passed through Mooreesburg. But if that bread place had been there I would have been there with bells on! I love my bread. Don't care for the low carb diet at all, life is too blerrie short!! My ouma used to bake soetsuurbrood. Absolutely divine! This bread looks just as yummy! Ek is so lus! Love the traporreltjie in the museum. I have no patience with a laborynth. I end up cheating and stepping over where I shouldn't.😅 I agree that there should be higher dividing walls. Oh the station building is just heartbreaking! This is a sad station. Those red steps, I can still smell cobra wax and heat the floor polishers going. Aha! A church to cheer me up. 😊❤❤ And the old motto ex unitate vires....still my motto and the country has much to learn thereby

    Hi Sonia and Curtis,
    Geluk! Hou so aan!

Another town where some of my family use to stay. My one uncle was the station master at Moorreesburg, his house was next to the station platform but to the Cape Town side of the station building that you saw. In the fifties we normally visited by means of the milktrain. In those days there even was a bioscope in town, I saw the other day that the building is still standing but now used for something else. Sometimes I wonder what happened to the blond girl that use to stay at the back of the bioscope..lol. My family used the name Samou for Moorreesburg those days but I still could not find an explanation. .

Hi you two! Thanks for this trip into the wheatlands. The town is wonderfully neat, lively and still growing after its looong history. Your chat at the bakery was very interesting. So was everything else that you showed us - the museum, the schools, the Municipal Building, churches etc. etc. A beautiful place. Thanks again. I'll be waiting on the roadside to be picked up next time. Until then, keep safe!

Thanks for the video! My grandparents had a wheat farm near Moorreesburg. My father and his siblings attended school in Moorreesburg. He is the youngest child and is now 90 years old. A few years ago we went back there with my parents and took photos of my father in front of his school.

Agreeing with all here - lovely town. I used to bake my own sourdough bread when my boys were growing up and had a starter going all the time. I enjoyed the explanation of the owner of Moorrees artisanal bakery, and what you both were eating looked so yummy. I can never find sourdough in the Netherlands but am not going to bake it just for my husband and me. Hope you took a loaf home too. Jealous 😊

So tiger Oats het so ontstaan in Moorreesburg gehad. Die beeld voor diee stadsaal was onthul met die 1938 gedenk trek. Die wa wat hiervandaan getrek het is die Johanna v d Merwe wa en staan tans by Voortrekker monument.
