That was an excellent video. The lighting was good, and the explanation was thorough and logical. I feel more confident attempting the install on a 1980 262C Bertone Coupe with Intercooled Turbo. I guess the poor lawtowngirl doesn't know that Volvo's run forever.
Excellent video and really helpful when fitting similar to a 1988 240 GLT. VG English and I love the description of the location of the relays ...."behind, far away". It sums up the way relays on a 240 are scattered all over the place with no logic.
Helpful video. I just bought a 240 wagon and plan on using the REC43T you used. Did you use the timed pulse setting for the outputs from the brain and if so did you need to adjust them? Also I'm thinking of avoiding pulling the glovebox and console and plugging into the relays by splicing into the keyed drivers key switch or the link rod switch. Then install it above the drivers footwell and avoid any wire runs except for the actuator. Any reason this wouldn't work? Anyway thanks for the video
So I'm guessing you already had central lock on the car before for all doors except driver door? I think my car has the same set up. It's a 1997 Toyota Tercel. Thanks for the video. Hopefully I'll manage to get the circuitry round without damaging anything.
Thanks for the great instructional vids - some of the best on the net IMO! After duplicating your work on my 89 245 I find that the MANUAL driver key entry no longer unlocks all the other doors - but the remote works great. Would you have any clues as to why this might be or a diagram on the wiring of the manual-unlock switch that is on the driver side door unlock peg?
I have a 1990 240 and just installed an alarm with keyless entry...i get up on morning and try disarm my alarm and all the doors open except the front door...i get in on the passenger side and try to open the door from there and nothing??? HELP!!!
How did you avoid the driver's side switch being pushed by the actuator and permanently applying power to all the other doors? That is why I gave up on this project.
1 - I did not adjust anything on the brain. 2 - From what I remember. Yes you can connect the brain to the key switch or rod switch but what about the driver door motor? You need to connect it to on of the other motors in parallel. So if you fish the relays you can just connect everything over there, brain and motor.
Is there a link somewhere for that diagram? The diagram I have for 1990 DL does not show like yours does for the drivers door lock. I thought I would be able to just add a keyless entry, but I'm glad I found this because I need to find a lock solenoid first. Thanks!
Hi , great video.I am planing to install a keyless entry in 2 of my cars. One of them is a volvo. Both cars got power locking. I am wondering how to determine if i need to install an selenoid on drivers door,. This point isn't clear to me on your car. You mentioned : All doors operates except from drivers door but on your video drivers door operates. Why did you need to install a selenoid? My car got 4 wires coming from drivers door lock but I see no selenoid. Do i need to install one? How to determine if I need to install one?
Well. The driver door lock operates but only with a key. There is no motor. All other three doors have motors except the driver. Once you open it you will see.
I got a 02 V70 which originaly had keyless entry however lost fobs, volvo original ones and programming would cost me more than the car is worth, I will try to do the same as you but not sure how this will work in conjunction with the car alarm for my model of car year, Any advice where to get any tutorials or information on my particular car model?
I just used this tutorial as a guide. Thanks a million for taking the time to make it!

Thats the cleanest volvo 240 in Canadas snow belt areas .... and good job.... love your vids :)
This is a very good video. I will likely use it to install keyless entry on both of my 240's !
Do it. I use it a lot. Very handy.
Awesome! This video was good and now i can do it my self!
This was fun to watch.
Range is great. More than enough.
Thanks for posting
I've just finish the job. Thanks a lot.

wow this instruction is good
Wow, excellent work. What's the range on that one?
Im thinking about buying a volvo 940 Tdi 1996, is the prodecure to install a keyless locking system the same on the 940 as in this video?

Good video
How about the 1988 760 Turbo, does that apply, also since the car when you activate the central locking, it also works the trunk, does that also work.

+Matt MuSi Interesting. But I don't think the remote system affected it. Did it happen right after installation?
Yes immediately after install. I'm guessing I may have loosened or perhaps broken a wire while wrestling/installing the driver side motor.

+Thomas Castle I have extra lock solenoid laying around. Do you want it?
I'm in the US so shipping would probably be a bit. You said it is reversible, so I could find one from a passenger front and use it for the drivers?
+Thomas Castle yes
volvosweden Awesome! Thank you for the information. I always thought the drivers door had an actuator like the others. Keep up the good work!
+Thomas Castle reversible. Yes
can you explain me what you do at 8:42 to 11:52 ?? because i want to install too ! thanks a lot!

thanks for your reply . does this chinese receiver still working after several years now ? how reliable they are in your opnion?
Works flawlessly!!! Still original battery since installing. And great range distance. I am surprised.
Great to know. Thanks a lot
