It should be in the by laws.
Other variables may be is there a successor coupled with a willing volunteer to step up and mentorship. Also the board may just want to keep him on.
There is a disconnect when it comes to the Black leadership pipeline. A lot of old heads are not changing and welcoming the younger audience 23-40 years old. And those people are starting those organizations.

As the leader of a well respected organization, he should easily articulate their mission and current programming. No way he would present himself this way on Good Morning America or Democracy NOW! He did not listen to the questions, he talked over you, and made the interview personal. You threw softballs trying to let the people know the work his organization is doing to shift the rise in anti-Blackness in this country.

He is so defensive. What was that all about??? This is why our people are so skeptical of other people that look like us. If you ask a question that they're not comfortable with they try to become intimidating. I can't believe in his leadership. We've seen so many like him over and over again. The website alone is full of trickery. If you have something that we can participate in, why does it have to be a "where's Waldo" maze.... he's a joke.

I listened to this conversation on your radio show. Having lived in New Orleans for a while and talking with people who've been around for several mayoral administrations, I wasn't surprised Morial reacted this way. People like him who've been able to have a smoother run in life due to their high social status (and not get caught for their corrupt actions behind-the-scenes) forget that only those in their bubbles see them as kings/queens. The rest of us have real questions needing actual answers.

13:58 Karen Hunter asked what does being a member of the National Urban League get a person? His answer: you get to be apart of a Civil Rights organization. Sorry, that answer is insufficient. None of the accomplishments you mentioned centered the people. To go from being over 500,000 to now 150 but don't bring the power off the half million in the room with you, when we think your advocating for all of us. Karen, thank you for pushing Marc Morial for answers on what exactly is the National Urban League mission, funding and accomplishments. Morial’s responses were so pathetic. He should be able to provide a list of numerous community programs and plans where they are working or have improved the quality of life for individuals. The fact that he considers building a headquarters in Harlem and attending conferences a achievement are major red flags. He’s appears to be just a figurehead gatekeeper collecting money with no purpose.
As a student at Dillard University, during the school orientation, I thought his father, Ernest "Dutch" Morial, was a white man until he opened his mouth. He spoke about being a NAACP attorney, standing up for justice, and filing lawsuits that helped dismantle segregation and Jim Crow laws and policies. As mayor of New Orleans, he called out the media's shallow reporting, which didn't discuss the city's real problems, and stood up to the police teamsters union whitemail strike against reorganization by canceling Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 1979. I was a grass root worker in the neighborhoods for his campaign registering voters and at the voting locations . Dutch was reelected in 1982.

This was really a great opportunity to build and collaborate. It requires some conversations that may not always be "easy", but isn't that really what it takes sometimes? This isn't a game or just some social "hobnobbing".
Karen was questioning him (as SHOULD be expected in an interview), and Mr. Morial really seemed triggered.
There seems to be an "old guard" that is so immersed in their own traditional thought, that anything that differs from that gets them anxious/defensive. We should be able to question groups that profess to represent us, so that they can develop and truly represent us...

If you are familiar with Karen Hunter and the type of questions she asks, there is no way that you should come on her show as the CEO of an organization and not be able to speak specifically about how the Urban League's programs and why someone should become a member. Also, as a non-profit organization, YES, your finances are PUBLIC. And why are you on this show not speaking face-to-face to Karen? Why are looking at his nostrils?

Just watched M.Moriel (Pretend)to be on Your show. He could and should have Canceled. I watched on RUclips and he made sure to leave an Awful impression. I hope the local chapter interaction is more upfront and engaging. Thank you for giving us a Birdseye view of how he responds to US PEONS. IF I was going to join, Now a Hard No!

Ugh, he was awful! Does the Urban League no longer have a broader vision for helping the Black community? The disrespectful interruptions and condescension was too much. Dang... Thanks for letting him talk as it was revealing! Urban League has some clean up to do because he left us listeners with a poor opinion of the current Urban League!

Whew Lawd!!! Sista Professor, your professionalism is impressive ...what an example! You could have DRAGGED him...he would have deserved it...but you did not.
He earned his degree in African American studies in 1980...he was REALLY proud of that...but he has no response for what the NUL is CURRENTLY doing to address education reform. I guess his degree did not teach him about advocacy.
When you asked him "what does fight look like"...he thought he was dropping gems. WE know it means to use your voice. His response lacked depth.
When he said the Black history he learned, he learned at home and referenced Ebony and Jet, it was at that exact moment that I knew he was out of his league. I obviously have no issue with either of those publications and what they did for our community...but what I am certain of is, this man is not equipped to be the leader of a reputable civil rights organization.
I loved your question about the fingerprints...and your follow up about the dense material on the website. His defensiveness prevents him from engaging in an intellectual conversation and ultimately prevents him and the organization from growth!!!
Is he a leader? Not for us. He said one thing right...there are Black leaders and there are those who are leading blacks...we know which one he is. How ironic. Members and affiliates of NUL really need to reevaluate some things.
    His arrogance is GROSS!!!
I will be sharing this interview in my policy class.

It gets me through my day as a law enforcement officer. His new name in my book is Mr. Rudeness. 😂😅😮❤

Already not a fan of National and some local chapters are much more together than others but wow his response regarding org transparency and the reasoning behind limiting it - I mean if you are working for black civil and economic rights/access, attacks against one's organization should be anticipated. PERIOD. His mansplaining and that microaggression aside, red flags really start waving hard when non profits make excuses that justify limiting transparency. Thank you Karen for pressing this issue.

Watching it after listening to it live gives it a whole other level of disrespect. I'm so shocked by this but I should bc it's a lot "Black Leaders" in these roles that's cosplaying if we're being honest.

I’m still upset how Mr. Morial undervalued underestimated and marginalized your show and the #KarenRebels by not answering your questions, stick to his soundbite talking points, and not even be camera ready for the interview. I hope the National Urban League board members see this interview and determine if his tenure as president should continue. Very disappointed

He came off as a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" which is fine, not really, but they could start with the kids. Get a bill introduced at the Federal level that gives federal money to any and all schools that have more than 30% African American student population; where it goes to that specific school and not the state to distribute.

I was looking so forward to this interview with Marc Moral. He truly disappointed me with the disrespect of the host and her audience. Marc Moral used to be a decent leader of the Urban League. I can't say that any more after watching this RUclips video. This has to be a 67 year old individual who knows better and knows how to interact with an audience of professional people, and to do this audience today like this was not only disrespectful, insulting and inappropriate it was totally disastrous for the Urban League. He cut off and turned off thousands of people who might have, not only renewed their memberships, but potential new members as well. Unbelievable!
