    "Become a super Moa."
    "Become a model."
"Becoming an actress and also a model and not only is active in Japan. "
    "Become a singer. "
10 years later we have witnessed them becoming the people they want to become.
And the " SAKURA GAKUIN Height Battle" will continue forever... XDDDD

The "guy" going crazy during Babymetal is the famous "white tshirt guy". He's actually going crazy through the whole festival. He's a HUGE Suzuka Nakamoto fan, and if you watch him carefully, you'll notice he ONLY looks at Su and tries to follow Su's dance moves. In order to help boost the attendance and get SG noticed, he invited and bought tickets for his friends to attend with him. He still attends Babymetal concerts to this day.
Also masks have ALWAYS been used in Japan for several reasons; pollution, allergies and to stop spreading germs. It's normal there. Lol.

Apparently he was a Karen Girl's fan, and followed Ayami and Su over to the new group when Sakura Gakuin started.
I heard he bought a bunch of tickets for his friends to try and make sure the first Sakura Gakuin performance was a success.

The teacher scolding part actually presents the difference in cultures between East and West. Japan has a perfectionist type of culture and the girls are well aware of that and they take it as normal. But, on the bright side, the girls are not easily offended, instead they take all criticism and scolding as a motivation to improve and perfect their craft. With that in mind, we wouldn't have the BABYMETAL we know today without Sakura Gakuin's rigorous training program. What the teacher said may sound offensive to Western fans, but the JP fans find that normal and thus do not make a big fuss about it.

🌸 🏫 I'll take any excuse to rewatch that Sakura Gakuin 'SMILE' documentary, but it was fun watching you watch it.
That's their choreographer and dance sensei MIKIKO at the 23:00 mark and again later in your reaction.
She has zero compunctions about making little girls cry. : )
I've seen worse footage with more crying from later years.
Those were both between performances though, not in the middle.
They often did multiple shows a day.
MIKIKO is well known for her work with Perfume as stage director and choreographer.
She's been working with Su since her Karen Girl's days, and she creates the choreography for BABYMETAL.
She also has her own dance troupe, ELEVENPLAY.
All of the groups had both a club description (like Heavy Music Club) and a name (like BABYMETAL).
The Baton Club was Twinklestars, the Cooking Club was Mini-Pati, the Newspaper Club was Scoopers, etc.
Sakura Gakuin is a school-themed Idol group.
Every member was also attending a real school while they were in Sakura Gakuin.
They don't teach any academic subjects like Math, History or Japanese.

What I like most about this video is that it really shows that y'all have truly bought into Babymetal (and their cohorts). There are quite a number of reactors out there that know Babymetal reactions will draw attention to your channel and bring in a nice windfall of likes, comments, and subscribers to help grow it. A lot of those guys showboat and "pander" to the BM fans for the attention. They don't really buy into the band they're watching as much as they buy into the views, likes, comments and subscriptions it gets them. The fact that you're willing to sit through a 2 hour "movie" of this for what will ultimately end up being the same amount of attention as any other 3-5 minute video you could've done for the same result....that shows that y'all have truly bought in, which helps give new meaning to following along with y'all on this journey down the fox hole.
    Looking forward to more.

The most grown up looking Miyoshi Ayaka is only 1 year older then Su. (well, 1 and a half year.) At 2010~2011 when the video was taken she was 14~15 years old.
The two tallest girl, Miyoshi Ayaka and Matsui Airi alone with former Karen Girl's Mutō Ayami were the 3 "oldest girl" in Sakura Gakuin, all born in 1996. Su was born at the end of 1997.

    • @mthsu
      @mthsu 3 года назад +1

@@chrisharris1522 Yeah, isn't it? I almost think Amuse is not good at doing solo singer. Even though they has so many great actors/actress.
Many idols who ends group career for solo career has a hard hard time. See Yamamoto Sayaka for an example. She was one of the most promising singer in a top group, not that she is doing bad now, but not fully to the expectation. And Sayaka is even a matured grown up and very well prepared. Or Suzuki Airi, too. They had such strong fan base back in the group, but still struggles.
For Ayami's case I kinda think she hits a wall early on after Sakura Gakuin, spiral down a long way at the end of her Amuse career.
Hopefully she can get back step by step.
And well... Being a artist in the independent market is not a bad thing anyway. She has her supporters and is still fighting. That is all matters. Would love to see her do well in the independent market.

Ayami left the industry not because she ran out of contract, but because she wanted to take some time off from the industry to figure out what she wanted to do in life since she had been active in the entertainment industry from a very young age.

I would love to buy their dvds and watch it with my nieces and nephew, I'm wondering if they have eng subs. They have this certain charm and lessons that can be learn and picked up by kids their age. Especially that Super Lady. I think the principal is right, only maybe because they are ending this year. I have a lot to say about this. The 12 girls in this video represent only 1/3 of the 36 super talented and adorable girls who have performed with Sakura Gakuin since 2010. If you choose to continue with this, you will discover many wonderful girls to fall in love with long after the three members of BabyMetal have moved on. Ayaka Miyoshi looks familiar because she is a top model who has appeared in many movies and television shows. If you think she also reminds you of somebody else, so do I. Ayaka always makes me think of a younger version of Band Maid's lead singer Saiki Atsumi. During Ayaka's stint with Sakura Gakuin she often exuded Saiki's ice princess persona. She was the coolest girl in class and she new it. Most of the other girls in this video have also achieved varying degrees of success in show business, as singers, dancers, models, and acting in television, movies, commercials, anime, and live theatre. Remember, all of these girls are still quite young. and have bright futures ahead of them in whatever they choose to pursue in life. Just earlier this month, Marina Horiuchi (the girl who passed her Mini-Pati scarf on to Yui) released her first solo CD. The Sakura Gakuin clubs, or sub-units, have changed members many times through the years, and over time new clubs were added as well. While many would argue that the quality of Sakura Gakuin has never declined, and although I think all who have followed are outstanding, I still feel that this original group will always be the best. If you continue reacting to Sakura Gkuin, a must are the Nendo Test videos. They are hilarious, will teach so much about the various girls, and show you just how fiercely competitive they all are. If you want to cry, then seek out the graduation videos. These feature the younger girls saying farewell to the older ones who are departing from Sakura Gakuin. Be warned though, these videos have been known to reduce grown, metal-hardened men to pretending that ninjas are chopping onions behind them.

The "heart" in the first "B" represents Moa (from her shirt at 46:25 in your reaction), and the "skull" to the upper right represents Yui (from her shirt at 46:25 in your reaction). There is also a "fox" in between "the B & the Y".

Wow, another video I thought I'd never see on RUclips. A few years ago this documentary was almost "hunted" by AMUSE and deleted everywhere it was found, regardless of the platform it was uploaded to.
Japanese idol groups always introduce themselves in shows and thank the audience for coming and listening, however short their time slot. A lot of them have chatch phrases and the like when there's time to introduce all members one by one, for example Moa always said "Motto mo ai wo taisetsu ni" ("cherish love the most"). It's what her parents wanted to convey with her name, which is written with the Kanji of "most" and "love" so she made it her catch phrase.
The strictness of the teachers and members on themselves is a part of Japanese culture. Teachers at school who oversee clubs that get to perform in competitions are the same (as are the members if they're doing it seriously). If you don't at least try to do it perfectly you shouldn't do it at all. Japan is an "only the strong survive" society, so if you're not up to whatever you (want to) do, you get left behind and either need to work twice as hard or quit. It's a normal thing in Japan they often get taught from early childhood on, so they're used to it and use it as motivation if it's something like in this video here.
It's probably a personal thing, but the more you watch of SG the less you think about "ah, these are the BM girls". I discovered them through BM, but only Moa makes my top 5 SG girls list these days. Mainly because it's way easier to follow the members after 2015 and get to know their personalities from their weekly shows.
To the songwriting you mention at around 7:20, some member(s) said that the songwriters took notes members wrote and used the general "feeling" conveyed in them for lyrics of some songs. But the members actively wrote the lyrics to the song Sakura Hyakunin Isshu. There's a special on a DVD that shows the lesson(s) they held to write them.
Ayaka Miyoshi has a fairly big role in one of the most succesful Asian Netflix shows of all time, Alice in Borderland, maybe that's where you recognize her from. She has also starred in some other nationwide released movies, like Leaving on the 15th spring in 2013, Dance with Me in 2019 and Daughters in 2020. She's also a pretty succesful model, together with the other tall girl in the video, Matsui Airi. They both did and do commercials and billboards for some of the world's biggest fashion brands (Dior, Gucci, etc). So both of their dreams certainly came true. Ayaka also was the first to have an "attitude" at the beginning, didn't do everything blindly she was told and talked back to Mori-sensei (their on-screen teacher). Nowadays the talking back part is fairly normal and makes for a lot of entertaining moments.

About Mini Pati, yes two of the three girls in the video, Marina and Raura, along with Nene were the first iteration of Mini-Pati before and during the first year of SG. They passed on their cooking scarfs to Moa, Yui, and Hana in a ceremony skit before the next class and they became Mini-Pati. Later Moa, Yui, and Hana, transferred their chefs scarfs to new girls. And so on and so on. Same with the other clubs.

Thanks for doing this, it was surprisingly blocked in my country so I had to use a VPN (greetings from the Czech Republic lol) When they were being scolded, by I assume Mikiko, please remember this is a professional group, they all have contracts and are being paid, so kind of think of it as like a pro sports team, if you are playing bad the coach will tell you so in order to get you to lift your game. The Idol business in Japan is ferociously competitive and success depends on building a fanbase. I hope now all the little bits of information about how SG is important in understanding Babymetal now make more sense, it is kind of hard to get reactors to understand how it all fits together and even more difficult to get them to watch.

A: Matsui Airi like Miyoshi Ayaka was aiming to be an actress but unlike Ayaka she was never trained nor an experienced singer nor dancer. So she was honest and you can see her struggle during her time in SG in their DVD (like doing school theme activities like singing, dancing, song writing etc.). Great reaction, I respect you. In Sakura Gakuin, A few members has graduated and new ones has come every year. Sa-Gaku unfortunately will be closed soon. Recently it is also good, but I like them during 2010-2014. Every members are distinctive and talented, have high consciousness. Besides Su-, Yui, and Moa, Mutou and Horiuchi are now singers, Miyoshi, Matsui, and Iida are now actors or models, Satou is a voice actor and so on. Sa-Gaku seems not to be the most popular idol group in the domestic Japan, but has unique concept and high level. In Japan, high talented idols are not liked so much, but fragile or uncompleted feeling idols liked.

1:44:19 My guess is it might have been over 2 days ?
As far as I could see they never pushed these girls so far that they were close to a breaking point.
SG has performed at an idol festival: TIF,, Tokyo Idol Festival. Lots of idol groups go there.
And there we can see older groups/girls perform worse than these younger SG girls. And that was in the early years of SG. Some 5+ years later SG focused even more on dancing and singing alone and they improved even more (as a group, despite individual members leaving and new members being added). I really do think SG are some of the best talented girls Amuse could find in Japan in that age range.

So the mask wearing during the one song, as they were in pajamas, is probably resembling those who wear mask during sleep for the dry air. Air is pretty dry in Japan, some peope wear mask or use a moisture adding machine during sleep to protect the throat etc. Their singers often do that during sleep to prevent dry air affecting their singing.
Also, people with hay fever often wear mask in Japan, too. So that is always a much ordinary thing to do in Japan. There are also people who wear mask just to not wear makeups etc. It's a different culture where you don't have to be very ill to wear a mask. The mindset behind mask is different.

In the early days of SG the girls helped write the some songs. And Babymetal has a song written by Yui and Moa as well.
20:35 The girls in SG have a very strong bond and it's a really great system for the girls to learn, etc. Yui and Moa have said Babymetal is also a way to promote SG, so it worked ;-)
Yes, Mini-Pati existed before SG, it was formed to promote certain food for the ministry of agriculture
    46:34 it's just a dance cover
56:04 they are still very good friends.
